  1. I have 2 for you steve...just clal me and let me know how to get them to you Adam
  2. From what I've been able to read, and talking to some Tulsa Alums....They have GREAT fans. Very football savy and don't have their head in the clouds. They know they are in for a tough game, but it could go either way. I think that we will be impressed with their fans attitude and hope that they bring a lot down to enjoy what will be a great tailgating day.
  3. Been waiting too long for this....if I am not there by 12:30 there is a big problem. Even if I just get to sit in an empty parking lot for a while, waiting for everyone. Superstituos about my parking spot. It's been working this long, why break the mojo?
  4. Gloom and Doom....."so sorry for them" blah blah.....this is crap every year teams win and lose just like this....nobody "hands us the game" heads up play and good effort by young players won this game. WE EARNED EVERY BIT OF THIS GAME... The better team won....let's let it carry over to next week.
  5. OK....wasn"t worried about you to begin with...but thenaks for the tip
  6. it is what is it... i don't feel sorry for them in the least. if they had earned it,,the score would have reflected it. They are the same losers they were the last 4 times we beat them. Earn my respect first...then and only then will i feel anything for you.
  7. Agreed......this subject has been beaten to death...but I love the new logo and a guy can always dream. If we were to keep the 'North Texas" on the helmet....might as well have stayed with what we have.
  8. My Turn....My Turn..... I will select Derek Mendoza.....I spent the better part of the first 3 games last year cursing this kid. I suppose I just wanted to see Casey or Spencer out there. As a Freshman he really came into his own, and made some important plays. It was great to watch him mature on the field and become a real force out there. I have never forgiven myself for being so hard on him (I mean HECK he was a Freshman). Now I have championed his NT career and he is one of my favorite players...Can't wait to wear my #51 Jersey this year. He's also awesome when I play as him on NCAA 2006 (PS2)
  9. A K State victory may turn a head, and Tulsa would be a nice blurb in the DMN, but a win over MUTS is expected and should give us no great thrill. The only conference game we have that will generate any good nationl pub is the Troy game. At least that game is pitting 2 bowl teams against each other.
  10. I think it is a great idea, but I'm not holding my breath. I have repeatedly offered pretty darn good money(upwards of $400) to several people in the department for just a helmet (not historic....just a helmet) and haven't got anywhere. Personally, I would go even higher on the scale for the final pieces to my collection. I just have to be patient and watch E-bay and hope.
  11. Pardon us MT....BUT we are the 4 time defending champion of this conference. Please excuse our attitude as we have consistantly shown the nation what a joke your pathetic school offers as a football team. I'm sorry that you have NEVER beaten us. It's terribly hard to take someone like you seriously, when you have never offered anyone, anything to make us think differently. I'm going to excuse your little jab as fun pre season banter....because there is absolutely now way you could be serious. Here in MEAN GREEN country we actually have games to worry about (LSU, Tulsa, K State) rather than re hash this old arguement.
  12. Trust me when I tell you...I would pay a lot!
  13. I'll take 2 as soon as they are ready to go!
  14. It got my blood stirring too Steve!! It was great to see a kid smiling his butt off, showing everyone his new UNT ID card and pestering me about times and locations of tailgatring events. Whatever they were saying in those orientation meetings was really working. I offered him $30 for the shirt off his back and he actually told me that it would take $50! ( and this is from a somewhat starving college student!! ) THAT is some school pride that I haven't seen in quite some time....North Texas or otherwise!
  15. This is a really great idea. I would certainly be up for something like this..... If this was around 7 years ago, the quote on my locker would have been...."Come on dude....cover the spread!" Now it would be something like "The only vacation I take is to New Orleans in December.....now go out there and gitter done!"
  16. I've thought about doing that a couple of times....I'll try and get some pics this week and put them up. I always promised myself that when I had the room to do it, I would have a totally Mean Green game room. Probably spent far more than I should to get some of these items. Bflan was a HUGE help completing the mini helmet set. I'm just lucky that my wife (a Baylor alum) has adopted NT as her favorite team, and let me run wild with my collection.
  17. My Mean Green room is my pride and joy..... I have fully dedicated my gameroom to North Texas items through the years. The Highlights 1) Full set of mini helmets from every NT team from 60 - present 2) Signed jerseys from Kennedy, Greene, Awasome (under glass) 3) Basketball jerseys from the late 80's (under glass) 4) game jersey from NT's own freshamn player of the year - LACROSSE - Cory Driver (My Nephew) 5) Game helmet from 96 6) Every ticket stub and program to every New Orleans bowl NT has played in. 7) A signed football from 04 NO Bowl from Johnny Quinn and Zach Muzzy. 7) Field turf from Fouts Field ( coming soon ) Of course I have 3 more jerseys coming in on this years order.....AND I am still looking for my personal "Holy Grail"..... Mitch Mayer / Troy Redwine Jerseys for the wall.
  18. I bought this CD 2 weeks ago off of E-Bay. It's pretty good. The quality is so-so but it's a live recording at the super pit, so I wan't dissapointed. Stebo.....you're right having pledges to sleep out for your tickets was a nice deal. Unfortunately Hallgren / Bubbles / Junior / Shannon.....myself and others were the one's doing the sleeping. Best concert of my life. Glad to own a piece of NT history! Adam
  19. From CBS Sportsline.com Sun Belt -- March 6-9/Bowling Green, Ky. Favorite Western Kentucky. The red towels will be out in force as the Hilltoppers host this tourney, and there probably is no bigger homecourt advantage in the league. A potential semifinal battle with top seed UL-Lafayette would be a war. Dark horse North Texas. Seeded sixth, the Eagles are dangerous because they have an assortment of weapons and play pretty much everyone on their roster. If they play consistent basketball, they could emerge at the opposite end of the bracket. At stake No one is getting an automatic bid this year, and only the Ragin' Cajuns have had a season strong enough to merit an NIT bid. Player to watch WKU center Nigel Dixon averaged a double-double this season and at over 300 pounds, is quite the handful. If he stays out of foul trouble, the Hilltoppers have the go-to guy necessary to win three games in three nights.
  20. As with many of you out there, I really had no idea that UNT fielded a Lacrosse team. That was until, my nephew phoned me up and told me that he was playing. I asked him "what the ?!%&$ are you talking about! Have you ever even played before?" He replied "No, but I get to hit people with sticks and knock the teeth out of a few guys from around the state" I have now been a HUGE Mean Green Lacrosse fane for several months, and I will tell you that it is a great sport to watch. Even more, we have an outstanding team! They have surprised everyone in the state and scored some huge victories over some serious talent. At 8-4 They have notched hard fought victories against Baylor, Rice, SMU, Trinity, UTA, UTD, Southwestern and TCU Fought hard and lost some tough ones to UT, A&M, and LSU (All ranked nationally) There are a couple of home games left, and it is well worth the time to go and wathc these warriors out there fighting for some respect in a little known sport. Oh yeah.....when you go and see #17 drop a guy like a load of cement....cheer hard for my MEAN GREEN NEPHEW (Cory Driver) Sometimes if you look real hard you can still see peices of the other guy stuck in his teeth! GO MEAN GREEN!!
  21. GreenEyedMonster = Adam Driver I graduated in Spring of 97 with my BBA in Strategic Management/Marketing. Working my way through school was the best 7 years of my life! (Damn that Stats class) I was president of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, a member of Alpha Phi Omega (Freshman year) and was blessed to work as a bartender at Tavern of the Green on Fry St. when it opened. I own an ATM company, and absolutely love it (Keep getting cash people...I want to retire someday!) I have followed Mean Green athletics since I was a kid, and made as many games as possible during my time in Denton. After I graduated is when I really had an opportunity to go to all the games, and am a Mean Green Club member for the past 2 years. Haven't missed a home game in so long I can't remember, and bust my tail to get to as many away games as possible. (TCU, UT, NO Bowl twice, etc)
  22. My Observations From the Game: 1) We lost 8-10 points in the second half because of missed lay-ups! 2) "ticky tack" BS fould in the first half put our best players in a foul crunch down the line, when actual fouls were occuring. My close friend from UT who attended the game with me, actually thought a ref blew his whistle before any contact had occured. (Use the force ref, anticipate the foul, see into the future) 3) Blount from TCU was absolutely HOT in the 2nd half. Every time he touched the ball, it was money. He single handedly brought that lead for them. 4)Unjel Masters has come a long way. Looks strong under the hoop, and played hard defense. Degrate, and Smith also played tough. 5) These were two very equal teams, that played a very physical game. Mental mistakes and missed layups cost us this one. 6) The band was great! Really helped the atmosphere of the game. 7) BRING THE FOOTBALL TEAM TO EVERY GAME!!!! I can't tell you the number of times we were laughing because of the football team heckling TCU. They were sitting right behind me, and next to Talons, and were actually having a good time. "Bring in Harry Potter" (he knows who he was) and other one liners made the night great. And who better to heckle with.....What? you don't like it? Here's my friend Booger...now leave me alone! All for now, See ya'll in Nawlins!
