  1. Looks more appropriate for Miami U.
  2. Maybe the guy who thinks that it's SO IMPORTANT to have "NORTH TEXAS" on the side of our helmets so everyone knows who we are should contact these people and inform them who we are. My point is that if we continue presenting an icon (helmets) that is so closely similar to NORTH TEXAS STATE then we are going to continue to have this problem. When we are referred to as NORTH TEXAS, it's really easy for legacy minds to fall into the NORTH TEXAS STATE phrase because it flows so naturally. We should be presenting ourselves as UNT. Hopefully we can get to a level of national exposure such that people will recognize us by UNT (similar to USC). With that said, I was in school during the name change and I have a hard time not referring to us as North Texas. I rarely use UNT, so I'm just as guilty. And no, RV, I don't want to change the helmets to say UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS. Put the d*** logo on them (either Mean Green or SOW) and refer to us as UNT everywhere.
  3. Nah, not me. I've got my sights set on something better than the N.O. Bowl!
  4. I like the uniforms, but HATE the helmets. Looks like a bunch of english peas running around. "Go Mean Peas!!"
  5. I walked into Apogee with my ticket in one hand and a water bottle in the other. Scanned ticket and waved me through.
  6. I didn't see a corn dog stand. Did anybody else notice one? IIRC they weren't at the first game last year either. Need to get my c-dog fix at the games, so I'm hoping they have them in the future. I got a coke and hotdog 20 mins before kickoff and there was almost no line. Price was reasonable too.
  7. And can be used as a beer funnel after the game!
  8. Or the opening kickoff return. I'd like to hear how loud it sounded during that run. I was so amped up, I thought I was going to pass out.
  9. So, can we now afford to buy GREEN uniforms for band? It'd be nice if they looked a little less like the "Black Brigade".
  10. Well, I'll throw in my $.02... I HATE the "North...Texas" and I think most of the alumni don't participate because of the 2 syllable "Tex-as" part. I think it just loses steam. I realize it works at UT, but that's a whole different animal. Moreover, since UT already does "Texas...Fight", it seems more important that we have something unique. I think we should do a "Mean...Green" chant. It's unique and it doesn't suffer from the 2 syllable momentum loss. BTW - I'm not a UT hater.
  11. If I ever win a $37M lottery, I GUARANTEE that I will contribute $1M to the UNT AD.
  12. I looked at all of the collegiate items they had at their site and most of them were just funny looking symbols (birds, tigers, etc.) or maybe a couple of letters (OU, WV, etc.). I just couldn't figure out what schools these symbols were for because they didn't have the name spelled out. /sarc
  13. Yep. we're lucky the helmets don't say "Univeristy of North Texas - Denton...Please Visit Our UNT-Dallas Campus Too", but I think they had trouble getting it to fit. Maybe RV can get some scrolling LED message boards installed in the sides of the helmets so he can post all kinds of UNT messages. Hey, I think I just stumbled onto an idea. [i now claim copyright to this!!!]
  14. I didn't think about it either. In fact, I don't even know if it's simply concrete or concrete with railing on top of it. I'll have to check some of the photos that have been posted. I was hoping thinking more about having the additional leg room and not worrying about screaming in someone's ear, so I liked having the first row. Also, I think the seatbacks will elevate things by a few inches which may help with the railing.
  15. Nice job on the pic. If the Athletic dept would have done this simple act, it would have save me about 3hrs of stressful driving and lost work time. I was going to do it over the phone but having no information, I got nervous at the last minute and drove up. The staff was *really* helpful and nice, but it sure would have been easier with a picture. BTW, when I arrived, there was a group (students?) being escorted around by Coach Mac. They all had on matching shirts and were taking a photo on the stairs in the main lobby. He seemed to be into it.
  16. I ended up taking the seats on the other end of your row (Seats 7-9) today at 11:30.
  17. We're going to the ROSE BOWL!!!!!
  18. I've never paid for a seatback since I sat on the top row of Fouts and leaned on the railing. The new seatbacks are AWESOME!!!!! They are molded plastic seats that sit a couple of inches off the bench. This example isn't exact, but it gives a rough idea of the kind of seat. IIRC, ours have a bit taller "base". There isn't any padding. I'm not tiny and it was cofy to me. I wish I would have taken a picture. Again, why doesn't the Ath. dept. provide this kind of stuff on the web site?!?!? It takes 10 minutes to take a picture and put it online. I also suggested to them that they take a couple of pictures of the seating chart and put that online. Even if they did a couple of updates a week, it'd really help people. They see the chart everyday and I don't think they realize that we have absolutely no idea how/where the seating is filling. At noon today, I was surprised to see how FEW seats had been taken. I expected a large portion of the lower sections to be gone. I don't remember the details, but I think only a small number had been selected in Section 103 for example. BTW, for anybody that's interested, the Letterman's section is the lower half of Section 204. Also, there were a couple of other areas blocked off. I think it was 209 or 210 had something like visiting recruits or something and there was another section but I don't remember what it was for.
  19. Thanks, you answered my (confusing) question. I'm considering either the lower bowl or section 205. I've always sat at the top row of lower level in Fouts in order to lean back on the railing and to easily get in/out. So, I'm thinking of the same here. But I'm also considering the row behind/beside the "tunnel" areas. I have no idea how much seating is left for my appt. tomorrow, so I'm trying to get all of my 2nd, 3rd choices lined up. This is the frustrating part about not seeing the seat in person in that you have no idea how much leg room, etc. is in any of the sections. Seems like they could have taken a few "choice" still shots over the past week or so and posted these online, along with an actual seat number mapping of the whole stadium. It's not like they don't already have the map created. Just publish it.
  20. Could someone comment with the information regarding how many seats are in each row, specifically for sections 104 and 205? I'm trying to figure out how many seats are split in the "tunnel" access part of the lower 3 rows.
  21. Wow. Just wow. Thanks for a great season and for giving us a chance to catch a game on TV.
  22. Okay, I don't get it. Other than the the guy with the mic at the end and the chunky girl in the red that was having spasms during the entire song, it just looked like band practice to me.
  23. Yeah, which of those colors represent "MEAN" GREEN and which ones portray "POWDER PUFF" GREEN??
