  1. Even before Fine got hurt, Utah State was playing with more heart. They are a better team, and they just want it more.
  2. I still have my concerns about the level of talent we are getting in the trenches. We have to get much better on both lines.
  3. What have our coaches been doing for the last 2 weeks? We look like the team that lost their coaching staff!!!
  4. I was in the pro C-USA camp, but have watched this conference regress over the last 6 seasons, I'm ready for a change. I have no faith in the C-USA leadership. I believe there are too many universities in C-USA that are not investing in their programs. We have basically no media deal. And, our bowl ties have diminished. I don't really want to be the only Texas program in the MWC, but if that is the route we have to take, so be it. In my opinion C-USA is a dying conference, with no plan to recover, and there really is not much difference from the old Sun Belt anymore. Sad.
  5. Wow. I guess they are working hard to insure their attendance will be lower then last season. Knowing this, I'm willing to bet this bowl willing be moving to a new city in the very near future. ESPN isn't doing much to make this bowl more attractive to Dallas.
  6. Utah State is a good ranked team. No other C-USA bowl team got a better opponent. The New Mexico Bowl is still better then being sent to the Potato Bowl, like BYU got stuck with. Don't really understand why the First Responders Bowl got Boise State. I know they have a good following, but they will not deliver the crowd size North Texas would have. I guess a local Big12 team (TCU/Baylor) will land in this bowl, and had no interest in losing to the Mean Green. I hope the First Responders Bowl has a lower attendance then last season.
  7. Agreed. Littrell would certainly be tweeting about the bowl, if he was planning on being there to coach it. Harrell looks to be the interim. Hopefully, he can hold this recruiting class together through February.
  8. Littrell could leave, but I do not think he will. He came to North Texas and said his mission was to "win championships and win bowl games". We have not done either yet. If he were to take the K-State job or another P5 offer, he would leave UNT without achieving what he set out to do. I don't believe the man could stomach that. I'm sure our fan base irritates him from time to time, but he can't deny that there is a core of fans that really care about this program, and he will probably never have another opportunity to build something from scratch again. Few coaches get to make a mark on a program like Patterson has at TCU. Littrell could do the same here at UNT, and he knows it. How much does Littrell like or hopefully love North Texas? We will find out soon.
  9. Could, but I doubt the win combined with a win over Northwestern in the title game would be enough to elevate them over LSU, or Oklahoma if they beat Texas.
  10. The BIG10 is tied to the Dallas Bowl this season. With Ohio State knocking off Michigan today, there should not be a BIG10 team in the playoff. The BIG10 has 9 bowl ties and 9 bowl eligible teams. If ESPN and C-USA don't horse-trade the bowl away again, either Purdue or Minnesota would be the likely opponent in that bowl. But, a lot can and will happen before invitations are extended. https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/01/college-football-bowl-ties-affiliations-tie-ins-college-football-playoff-conference-2018-2019
  11. Glad we won tonight. And, glad we have 9 wins again. But, anyone that wants to ignore the fact that this offense has issues, and overlook the fact that we've only beaten 1 FBS team with a winning record, just has their head in the sand. Until the majority of our fan base agrees we have a problem, I doubt there will not be enough pressure to get it fixed, and we will continue to struggle for long stretches of games against weak competition.
  12. My point is... if Littrell knows what adjustments need to be made, and Harrell isn't making them, then our head coach needs to step in and make the adjustments that will give our players a chance to win games. Not wanting to step on toes isn't a good excuse.
  13. If true, that's a terrible reason to let our players lose 3 games.
  14. Well if he knows how to adjust then why have we dropped 3 games we were winning by double digits?
  15. Have not felt this bad about a win in a long time. Our offensive scheme has issues. Littrell and Harrell have not figured out how to adapt this offense when defenses start shutting it down. We should not have had an issue putting away UTSA. I hope our offensive staff can develop some new wrinkles before our bowl game.
  16. Good job by Littrell and our coaches. They were creative and got the running game back on track. This will open the passing game again. Great to see adjustment being made at halftime.
  17. Littrell was interviews heading into the locker room about the first half, and he said they need to go in and make adjustments. First time I've heard him say it, and if they do make adjustments, we should be fine, and pull away in the second half.
  18. My sources told me the I-Bowl was interested in us, but our leadership seemed more interested in the New Orleans scene. That is all I'm going to say about last year's bowl. What's done is done. I'd rather focus on where we go this season. Bring on the Dallas "Life Support" Bowl and BYU.
  19. According to my numbers, we had 140,131 attend our 6 home games this season. And we averaged 23,355 per game this season. I believe both are records. Congratulations.
  20. I kind of agree. UTSA and their fans hate us. Hate is a powerful motivator. There is nothing for them after next Saturday. Our game will be their Superbowl. I think they will take some cheap shots at our players, and l expect flags to be flying the whole game. If we can keep from playing into their antics and be disciplined, we should dominate them in the San Antonio.
  21. Have both in the backfield. Line Quinn up 3 yards behind center in an offset a pistol, and Fine directly behind center 5 yards back. Quinn could take the snap or let it could go to Fine, depending on how the defense is aligned. Also, based on the defensive alignment, Fine could audible and send Quinn in motion, or have Quinn shift to adjust for picking up blitzes. I would not run this exclusively, just as a change of pace, when defenses are keying in and stopping our offense. Just a thought.
  22. I am very proud of how our team played last night. The players gave everything the had on the field. They were truly "Selfless, Tough, and (mostly) Disciplined". Hope the they can some extra time to heal and rest before zeroing in on destroying UTSA. The players have earned it. Go Mean Green!!!
  23. Ha! It looked better then the crowd for Toledo and Kent State. I thought Apogee looked good and sounded good on TV.
