  1. "The ambulance (Medic 3) involved in this incident was a 1995 Type IIIa ambulance body that was installed on a 1995 cutaway chassis with an automatic 7.3 liter turbo-diesel engine. The gross vehicle weight listed for the vehicle was 10,500 pounds." http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/face200305.html I believe I would defer to the firefighter on the weight of an ambulance. A police car weighs much much more than your normal production vehicle. They have heavy-duty suspensions, axles, radiators, etc. that all contribute to the weight. An ambulance is bigger, and has to have all of the medical equipment in it on top of all that other stuff. I'm pretty sure ambulances START at 6000lbs.
  2. start him as RB coach and assistant recruiting coordinator or something...
  3. I think HC is the only way to go, since he's an assistant HC at UT. It's the only possible move for him that wouldn't be lateral or a downgrade. I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned Chambers, though, as he remains one of the most underrated coaches in the state and a perpetual snub for HC interviews. If one were to going to make a case for the lack of minorities in head coaching positions, he's your poster child. The only difficulty would be prying him away from Mack Brown's hands. That, and should UT finally get to the promised land, he might start to get the notice he deserves.
  4. Why? I WANT better, but I don't expect it. This isn't the NFL. We're not gonna get high draft picks for being terrible. We're getting outrecruited in Texas by ULfreakingM right now, and you're worried about TCU? One thing to note, as has been pointed out here, and is a good indicator of why we haven't gotten a lot of verbals yet, is that many of our recruits have lists of: BCS BCS BCS UNT (offer) We'll get the ones that don't get offered by those BCS schools. That's how we recruit.
  5. 1) This list appears less accurate than rivals. Coffman is one of the top athletes in the state of Missouri. I think he's a marginal 3-star, upper 2-star recruit. 2) Did you really expect better?
  6. DD and RF both played QB at Div. 1 U's (sorry, I'm easily amused). Bruce Chambers. That's a name I'd want on my list. Graduate of Dallas Carter high school and North Texas ('82). He was a 4-yr letterman as a WR (also track and field). BIG-TIME Texas high school coach for 14 years at Dallas Carter (1983-1997) before moving up to the University of Texas, coaching running backs (1998-2002), tight ends (2003-2005), and has been a KEY player in recruiting (currently recruiting coordinator) for the Longhorns. He has also served as an assistant head coach and director of UT's High School Coaches Clinic. He'd be a tough pull given his current situation, but I think he'd be worth it. Hopefully we'd be able to play the North Texas card, and the fact that it would be a head coaching job with nowhere to go but up. Immediate upgrade in recruiting, and he's coached some very good running backs at a high profile job.
  7. Find where any of the "haters" said it would be peaches and cream. Of course, by some of your definitions, peaches and cream means having a team that can only beat the Sun Belt, in which case I'm pretty sure we could get "peaches and cream" enough years to make you all happy. It's easy enough to please the low expectations crowd. Some of us are willing to take a risk in order to move this program forward. If we can't win 50% of our games while playing in the worst conference around, we're only treading water. As for Davie, the only problem with him is that he was basically run out of Notre Dame. I don't necessarily think it was fair, but there's some animosity for him and a belief that he hasn't always gotten the most out of his teams, especially as an in-game manager. I think there might be some better bets for the price, if you can lure them away. Still, I think it's all a moot point. I don't believe Kansas State will hire Dickey.
  8. OR, you could make no mention of their talent level, especially if all you're going to do is lie about it in order to use it as an excuse.
  9. DD's offense actually had the option, though, which is about the only way to trick people if all you're going to do is run the ball.
  10. Except for the fact that their conference is actually considered TOUGH for their level of competition.
  11. What?! No way... that's unpossible.
  12. You have some pretty low qualifications for the words "success" and "progress." Hey, I decided to drop out of my regular classes and only take remedials. Now I'm in the 90th percentile of my class! I'm a success! And I'm making real progress, too! The first year, I couldn't figure out a bubble sheet, but neither could just about anyone else, so I was still one of the top in the class. Since figuring out the bubble sheets, though, I'm the best remedial student... at least most years.
  13. Dickey bitches because he's not a very good coach and lacks the ability to take responsibility for his and his team's failures. It's always "FIU is a very talented team," "we had a difficult situation," "our guys play with a lot of intensity out there, and I don't think the penalties are really a problem." If we are, as you say, at the same level with the rest of the Belt (which many of us agree with), then Dickey hasn't done LOTS OF GOOD for this program, because it's right where it was 10 years ago and nothing has changed, except for forming a conference comprised solely of the worst Div 1-A football has to offer. I will support my program how I see fit. If people like you were around when I was in school, we'd be happily churning away in Div 1-AA. Some people want better. But, fortunately for you guys, when DD runs this team back into the ground and we end up back there, you can talk about how awesome it is that we can beat McNeese State 7 times out of 10. By the way, you won't get the better stadiums, more tradition, better conference, more fan support, more donor support, more media attention, more loyal students/alums, etc. unless you start beating something more than the Sun Belt. Until then, you're treading water.
  14. Wait til you hear my head coach thoughts. That's one I actually DO have a specific name for.
  15. All other things being equal, I don't care about height. All other things are not equal, however. If we still ran the option... maybe.
  16. Darnell (their OC) did coach a pretty prolific New Mexico offense under Franchione.
  17. Example = Lee Fobbs - RB Coach, Texas A&M. I'm not touting Fobbs as the coach of choice, so all those who will immediately post negatively about him or how we wouldn't be able to get him or whatever can stow it, I'm merely providing someone with the type of resume I'd be looking for, if somebody would promote me from internet goon to AD. 2003: Texas A&M (running backs) 2001-02: Alabama (running backs) 1997-00: Baylor (defensive tackles/running backs) 1996: Minnesota (outside linebackers) 1995: Southern Mississippi (offensive tackles/tight ends) 1994: LSU (defensive ends) 1991-93: Tulane (wide receivers) 1989-90: Louisiana-Monroe (defensive line) 1985-88: Carroll (La.) High School (head coach/athletics director) 1975-84: Wossman (La.) High School (offensive coordinator) 1975: Grambling (graduate assistant) That's 29 years of coaching experience, including high school. Almost all of it in the Southeast. Familiar with our recruiting rivals and areas. Experience in MAJOR conferences with major teams, with some success (Alabama led the SEC in rushing in 2001, 2nd in total offense in 2002). Although it was only a year, coached at Southern Miss with RV and shares a familiarity with other coaching staff. That's the sort of thing I think we have to look for.
  18. All of this is still in the theoretical, since none of it's official, and I recognize at this point it's all wild speculation. Replacements: Well, first, forget any big names. While I may want change in the coaching ranks, you've got to deal with reality there. So here's what you look for: 1) Has to be a step up. So, for an offensive coordinator, you're looking for an offensive coach - RB coach, O-Line coach, something of that ilk OR for an offensive coordinator from a smaller school. Personally, I'd rather not delve into Div 1-AA unless I had to, so I'd be looking at the lesser coaches at bigger schools. 2) Someone with a lot of experience, and hopefully in the South/Southeast. We've got to get somebody familiar with the area of the nation we recruit in AND recruit against. Also, since in this scenario you're looking at a coach with a verty specific task, you want them to have experience at a number of offensive positions. You don't want someone who's ONLY coached running backs or offensive linemen or quarterbacks. 3) Someone with experience at BIGGER schools. While some of that naturally would come with their current position, I think there's a lot to be said for someone who's been an assistant at a number of BCS schools. They will have worked with great coaches, and you absorb something from what you're around. 4) A coach working in a school in flux. You're more likely to pull from a school where the coaching situation is a little tenuous. Unfortunately, ours is not necessarily stable at the moment. 5) Someone for RV. There are some who believe DD is protected from on high, and that RV is not able to put his stamp on the football program as he would like (I don't know, myself, so I'll leave that for others). Whether or not that IS the case, I would want/hope for our new offensive coordinator to be MORE tied to what RV wants than Dickey. It's got to carry RV's stamp. Then, it's up to them all to work together. Personally, I don't think this University can quite afford to get rid of DD just yet, as much as I hate to admit it, but I don't believe we will take the next step until we do. Given our situation, you want someone hopefully familiar with RV, or at least with coaches and people RV is familiar with AND (this is very important), the potential to be groomed into a head coaching position. You set yourself in several ways with this: a) It provides you with a possible replacement plan that would NOT effect long-term stability and Even if they move on to be a head coach elsewhere, it points to NT as a good stepping stone. While some may not find this ideal, it's a good way to get personnel in, and then it's up to us to keep them here.
  19. I like how the risk of injury is somehow the biggest risk to the future. Don't play him the last two games because he might get injured for his entire career. In that case, we'd better bench everyone who doesn't suck and isn't a senior or better yet forfeit the last two games so no one gets hurt. But, to be truly sensible, we should probably refrain from playing our BEST players until they're seniors, so as not to waste their potential should they get career-ending injuries. So we'd probably need to fill half of our roster with horrible football players we can use in the meantime until everyone else develops with the time we give them at the end of the last two games of their first three years. It's a BRILLIANT plan. That would be the best for the future. If players get injured, they get injured. NOT PLAYING a freshman with potential is much worse for the program. And, in turn, what he appears to be favoring is playing a just-recently-concussed QB who has not shown us a tremendous lot in his 9 games and, despite the many protests during the offseason, a huge injury risk.
