We have the highest rated environmental ethics program in the world ( know that for sure because that is a philosophy program). *EDIT: counseling program is also one of the best grad programs in the nation in counseling.

Oh come on man... It doesn't matter who is in there, the result will likely be the same. Besides, this isn't his first major action, he did play last year. He is a big boy and can take a hit. It doesn't matter who will start, both QB's will get playing time he just gets it first. The only way he stays in is if he gives a reason to not pull him out.

Football: Phillips to start for UNT against Texas Meager out with concussion 02:06 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer Matt Phillips will finally get his chance to start at quarterback for North Texas this weekend. UNT head coach Darrell Dickey announced on Tuesday that the sophomore will start for the Mean Green when they take on defending national champion Texas on Saturday in Austin. Phillips played in a reserve role behind starter Daniel Meager last season and threw for 448 yards and four touchdowns. Meager, Phillips and junior college transfer Woody Wilson competed for the starting job in spring practice and throughout fall camp. Meager has been suffering from the lingering effects of a concussion and missed several practices the last few weeks. Dickey said Tuesday that Meager would not play against Texas. While Wilson will not start, he will receive extensive playing time. Dickey said that the competition between all three quarterbacks would continue into the season and Meager would have an opportunity to compete for the job once he returns to full strength. I agree that this is something that should have been done WAY long ago. Yes, it is good that they are doing something with it. But think, they could have had so much more had they done this awhile back. i.e. the Arlington Cowboys.

I compare Scott hall to matt phillips... It wasn't Scott that they wanted to start his first year. but, like Phillips, he clearly moved the team better than the starter. The only difference is... eventually, they gave Scott Hall some starts toward the end of the year. They didn't with Phillips.

I am thinking a 3-4 win season with no wins coming out of conference. Finally the coaching staff get what they want...They complain that they have too many money games and need some more winnable ones....of which i understand. But, now RV has set it up to where it isn't like that and we will see if they can deliver. I do not think they will though. And what is my reason for this realistic expectation? answer: last year

My prediction... the same as last year. Maybe a one or two game difference. I have nothing to go on to think otherwise. Man, I hope I am wrong! You know what I think it is.... I think i am finally starting to buy what DD has been selling. He seems so apathetic, non-caring, and depressing about our program and it is contagious. I find no fire, leadership, "give 'em hell" attitude, "win-at-all cost" desire, or "going beyond the call of duty" effort. Hearing this same complaint from several others who have played all four years and started in several of those seasons under DD only solidifies my notions. After years of putting down the fans, program, and university it is hard to go into a season coached by him optimistically.

Yes, and yet... we continue to support him. Our athletic program is ok with mediocrity it appears. If it were otherwise then changes would be made. At the very least put a muzzle on the coach since he is the biggest debbie downer and quite the depressor when I hear him speak of UNT or how we will compare with our opponents (especially the texas' of the world).

I would be a sad sad camper if Dickey were to keep his job after a record like that. I seriously doubt i could continue supporting a program that allows for a sub-par performance coach to stay year after year that produces anything close to what we went through last season

I would say thats about right. They deserve this lack of respect and credibility that they are given. Last year was pathetic and it was no big 12 conference we were in. Here is to hoping they are wrong... that I am wrong.

I am with you silver. i am in a believe it when I see it. And I put my money on not seeing it. I wouldn't put my money on seeing much of anything this year.
