  1. Clearly the answer to a counter banner would be the original banner and a counter counter banner... It could be an arms race...
  2. The fact we celebrate not being in the bottom 10 even joking shows we have a problem with having a winning culture and accountability.
  3. Let me start by saying I like Canales, I like his energy and I like his perseverance. I still hold the opinion that we are 3 games into a second interim stint by Canales in a "dumpster fire of a season". I'm going to keep my powder dry on voicing an opinion on Canales as the head coach. He has been working on objections in his press conference talking about recruits on twitter etc, but I am still not sold. I can feel his passion and I like his appreciation for alumni support but I think we should see how the season ends up before we beg for Chico to take the job. Although he obviously brings a new energy and direction to the program I am still in favor of shopping the market. Lets look around ask the tough questions and maybe Canales is our head coach in the end but I don't think it hurts to look around for a bit and see how he finishes out the season.
  4. Well that's nice not that it matter this year but since their isn't a ASN affiliate in DFW.
  5. I personally have given more to universities I did not attend between myself and my company this year mainly entertaining customers.. This sickens me I would much rather support UNT and be more involved but I'm not going to up my giving till we see accountability and a desire to win..
  6. You can do some back of the napkin math on it.. How many folks on here stayed home for trick or treat over going to the game. If people that are this engaged with the program aren't going then the casual fans aren't going either.
  7. I just want to run onto the field and hit somebody..
  8. We won one game.. I like Chico, I like his energy I like that the players like him. That being said we won one game lets not start second guessing is he or isn't he. My preference currently is a big name that has recruiting ties.. But I would certainly take Chico over the loser we are probably going to try and hire..
  9. We got a good win in a bad season. Chico delivered this and deserves to enjoy it with the fans and alumni. I don't personally know John Williams but he supports the Mean Green personally and with his businesses in a town where you don't always find that. One of the biggest tragedies of the last decade has been the lack of young alumni involvement and as they get older older alumni involvement. A tip of the cap from us all and a game ball is just a little recognition for a business and its owner that's doing its/his part to build a bridge with young alumni. If out of those young alumni 5 or 10 become long term MGC members a game ball is a small price.
  10. The game ended and I was smiling and the usual symptoms I have felt after games of utter despair and depression weren't there.. This was a good win for us all a moral victory in a season with little to cheer for.. Glory to the Green
  11. I'm not partial one way or the other just offering up a potential reason. I personally could care less if we wear Tutu's and Hawaiian shirts as long as we win.
  12. I would bet we don't want to do it because it adds another element to the game. This isn't a special game other than the rivalry. If we add Halloween it's just another distraction. Chico is trying to avoid anything potentially distracting.
  13. “One-and-a-half years ago, when we were playing in a New Year’s bowl game no one was calling the athletic director saying ‘great job.’ You understand for most of the time what you’re going to get is the downside. That’s just part of the business.” I guess now we should call and thank people for doing their job at an acceptable level... I bought a soda at QuikTrip earlier the clerk rang me up and smiled, I'll call tomorrow to say 'Great Job'. 14. He had no recruiting ties to Texas.. Not an end all be all but if they haven't recruited in TX it better be a big name
  15. We could offer a solution of coaching by committee.. 5 of us coach every game.. I bet we could beat 0-7 or at least tie it and one of us could figure out how to schedule just 5 home games
  16. Not saying he's even a candidate for coach or implying anything but I think this is a test for whether Chico can get a team behind him..
  17. Harry I'm not sure whether to salute or just choke back a tear and say an amen. I completely agree, we are ready for a winning program a slow development of a program of well we are ready for someone who doesn't accept losing.. If we could get 3/4 of what we want I think myself and most of those here would be the biggest sellers of the mgc and season tickets.
  18. We don't have a winning program because the expectation and accountability aren't put in place. We were told in the early 2000's we needed new athletic facilities to recruit and win. We built them, then we were told we needed a new stadium to recruit and win. We built it, we just had the worst attended game since that facility opened and our 9-4 season of a few years ago is a distant memory. Accountability is what we now need, we need to demand and expect winning and we vote with our feet and our dollars, as much as it pains me to think we are setting a program we all care about very much if we don't our voices will not be heard. If we don't hold the program accountable as alumni and students the administration will not hold the AD and the athletics programs accountable. We need to stop kicking the can down the road and settling for a mediocre program and no culture of winning.
  19. The banner will receive attention and coverage.. Whether you agree or disagree with the topic. It will be a topic of conversation among alumni and students. It will most likely require far more attention and far more voices but every revolution starts with a first shot...
  20. Although large donors do have the ear of the administration. It is the generations of Alums that graduate and don't build that bond of giving and connecting with their alma mater that is the greater loss.
