  1. When people say college sports don't matter to a university. "Since Nick Saban arrived in 2007, Alabama's enrollment has increased from 25,000 students to 40,000 students. That's a 60% jump compared to a 10% national average. But the *type* of student matters much more. Alabama went from the majority of its student body consisting of in-state students to the majority now being from out-of-state. This is important because those students pay 3x more in annual tuition — $32,000 vs. $11,000 — and it means Alabama increased its annual revenue by hundreds of millions under Nick Saban." Source:
  2. All said, Memphis is beatable if our guys ignore their ranking and just play North Texas basketball. And yes, we have a brand and a style of play associated with it.
  3. Too many 3s down the stretch. Reminds me of... our program up in Denton at times. Still, the foul differential was 29-18 in favor of Memphis which translated to 43 free throw attempts for Memphis and 21 for UTSA. Hard to win when the other team gets that many free throw attempts and the difference is that lopsided.
  4. This game has been absolutely stolen by the refs. UTSA setup a beautiful screen to get a wide open dunk with 6 seconds left but the refs called an offensive foul for an illegal screen. It's been non-stop fouls on UTSA. So thankful we don't play Memphis on the road.
  5. Even if those two are, it doesn't mean we won't bring somebody else in. Players have continued to hit the portal. Like the JayD said, Rogers didn't commit to us until January 10th last year. I realize today is the one year anniversary of that but it really just shows it's still not too late.
  6. I don't even think classes have started yet. Still time for a transfer to come in and get those reps.
  7. Not worried because of the OL and RB additions. I know it's not the desired offensive scheme but it looks to me like the necessary pieces were brought in to make the offense as QB friendly as possible in the event that Stone or another inexperienced QB is the starter. Look at the size of the offensive linemen coming in and bully-ball is definitely on the table if needed. I know we're not Michigan but they just went 15-0 with McCarthy throwing an average of 22 times per game including zero passing attempts in an entire half. I'm more concerned about the defense.
  8. And none of them are recruiting any port neches guys except for the two I posted.
  9. Morris put up the same type of numbers Rogers did at ULM except Morris did it in the Big 12. His issue is staying on the field. If he stays healthy, he can do what Rogers did last year.
  10. Yeah the two with offers are offensive linemen and one is warm to Texas. https://247sports.com/Player/jackson-christian-46133748/ https://247sports.com/Player/aaron-wolford-46145738/
  11. Man, I didn't know if I was overreacting but it seemed there were some unnecessarily hard intentional fouls at the end of the game. I know they were needing to get NT to the foul line so they could get the ball back and try climbing back in but the full body checking was uncalled for.
  12. Don't know if this was a joke or not considering the championship game but per my 247sports research, from the class of 2024 to class of 2027 there's only 2 Port Neches Groves players with FBS offers and we've offered both.
  13. For some perspective... Rice is playing a home game at D3 St Thomas' gym.
  14. I agree with that comparison. He's got this twitch that he uses to create space and he knows how to take advantage of it.
  15. Edwards and Noland are great. Edwards specifically has acclimated himself really well to the speed of the game. He's played very well lately.
  16. I agree with both of you. I'm not the one who said Cedar Hill was a nice city and implied $500k to a kid from there wouldn't do much.
  17. It's still a mostly middle class city. $500k is life changing money for a kid from a middle class family.
  18. Feels good to start AAC play with a win!
  19. Just realized Cortes for Wichita State is Stone's HS teammate Bijan Cortes. Transfered to Wichita State from OU. They have a lot of talent. Wondering where UTSA transfer Jacob Germany is...
  20. Give Sissoko his flowers for this first half. 4 points and 10 rebounds. He's locked down the paint after allowing the early baskets off the pick and roll.
  21. We shoot 50% from the free throw line. Need to clean that up. Otherwise great start!
  22. I agree. This is where I'd like to see some of that pace we saw previous years where we clamp out down on defense and suck the air out of the gym with a slow developing offense. I'm not saying park the bus with 30 minutes left to go but let's just slow down a tad.
