  1. Is it safe to say that according to the FANS the S.M.U. series is the football rivalry? I realize the football faithful tend to see this issue differently than studentsadmin people.
  2. Harry you do a great job with this site. I appreciate the effort and quality product. It is obvious I am not the only one that recognizes this fact due to the active contribution of so many people. Thanks!
  3. Thanks! That makes sense. I realize I don't understand a lot, but the little pieces of knowledge help me understand better.
  4. Help me on this. Wouldn't the hurry up offense imply a faster, quicker QB (not usually tall)? I am getting lost following the offensive scheme and matching it to the players brought in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again for your help. I don't have the luxury of local media and events to gleen information.
  5. Blake (RS Freshman) was 15/23 233 yards 2 TD 0 INT. Do any of you know if UNT recruited him or UTSA Goree? Seems odd they split up?
  6. Thank you for the input. Gotta make hotel reservations, plan vacation, etc. Didn't know if maybe you heard something because you are the home team.
  7. Wouldn't playing lower division schools hurt bowl eligibility since those wins wouldn't count toward qualifying?
  8. I plan on attending the UNT - UTSA game, any rumors of a date change to accommodate tv?
  9. That's cool, I respect your passion for your team. I never got from other posts a sense of concession, just an insiders perspective on the program and it's state. It was never my intent to be dismissive toward UNT based on my past if it came across like that. I am certainly not saying UTSA will win in October, there is way too much change in the program right now. Honestly, I hope UTSA goes undefeated and UNT is one game short of that, but I'm afraid this will be a rebuilding year. If we can't represent C USA W, I hope you all do. Nobody wins when the conference isn't filled with strong teams.
  10. Regarding how to win. It is funny you would ask that question, this season and being a UNT fan, because I see this years UTSA-UNT game as an indicator of progress this year for the changes being made this spring. Understand, I don't work for and I am not affiliated with the team other than purchasing tickets, so I could be WAY off, but this is how I see it. This is going to sound cliché, but I honestly think if your D line (or any teams) is strong enough to exploit the O line (very young and inexperienced), you can pressure Blake (RS Freshman) and stop the run and make it a very long day as I have less than no confidence in the receiving game (although our receivers coach returned from Houston after the purge there). I said receiving because I think the QB talent is going to be very good. UTSA O line was just brutal last season, so hard to watch. This year, most of the O line graduated (FCS level recruits) and being replaced by legit D1 talent. UTSA also brought in a big time O line coach, who stated there is work to be done. Refreshing assessment. My point here is, we have a tough OOC schedule with new scheme, new players and new position coach, so I don't know what that will look like, but I can guess. The game in Denton is late enough in the season for the new scheme and players to hopefully gel, and being a G5 opponent, I hope to get a real gauge on progress. My fear is we have A&M and Baylor scheduled in the near future. My question would be (with fear and trepidation), how good is your D line?
  11. Okay, a home game is the differentiating element. I again appreciate the benefit of your knowledge. It's tremendous to have a forum to learn about programs and how they're built and run.
  12. UNT 90, help me out if you will. If one were to build a program, how do you balance a $ game with a big name for attendance, recruiting and program momentum? It seems it is the big names that are the money games? I am not refuting the point, just curious how an AD would do that.
  13. Does anyone have the contact information to purchase tickets for the game? Also, what hotel is conveniently located to the stadium?
  14. This would be so hilarious if it didn't hit so close to home.
  15. For what it's worth, UT did it 3 days after NSD.
  16. Growing up in Lewisville, UNT was the school we aspired to attend. I spent several weekends in the library in the campus library and competing in debate tournaments. I played football as well and never heard anything like that article. I move to San Antonio and read that...I even have family in Michigan I am steering there for music study. All I can think is what the !$#& is going on. I love this forum because there is a lot of good football talk, but to read stuff like that is nuts.
  17. Is that article real? UNT is in the top recruiting area in a top 3 recruiting state. The facilities are nice and there is tradition....what gives?
  18. Hardly. I was addressing error in a post. I don't need to justify anything to anyone. I was hoping to contribute to the forum. If I wanted to justify my existence I would say we are up 2-0 and Denton is (fill in the blank) and the people on the forum are (fill in the blank). The reality is I am neither a UTSA nor UNT alum and grew up in Lewisville, so I root for UTSA as I live in S.A. but follow UNT as the closest home town team to my high school. My impression is disappointing to say the least. The Mean Green reputation isn't demonstrated as of yet on this forum. There is a lot of elitist attitude but that's about it. Hope to see morebetter from here as my opinion of the school starting to change.
  19. Austin will be a Sophomore but Coker wants him at WR. Blake is easily the most talented Q.B. to date and will start. The Michigan transfer presumably will be in the mix Q.B.2 but wouldn't be in SA till the fall. 2015 Harris and Henderson look solid but word is they will red shirt with the first three mentioned. U.T.S.A Q.B. position was a disaster last year finishing with Q.B. 4 on the field due to O.L. and R.B. injuries killing protection. The new O.L. coach has 14 years successful S.E.C. experience and this is the first class of F.B.S. talent on the line. Hope that helps.
  20. UNT also has a better music program and debate squad. They're work with emergency management is also quite good. They are in the best recruiting area (DFW) of the state with access to Oklahoma.
  21. Stadiums on campus are inconsequential. Only scoreboard counts. Derp.
