  1. I really wanted to believe he wasn't senile until this happened
  2. This. So much this. This is also where I think Littrell's experience at Indiana and North Carolina will come in handy. North Carolina was in the ACC championship last year and almost in the CFP(barring other factors if they won), and still North Carolina is a basketball school first and foremost. Probably always will be. He was never at a program that kicked their feet up because there was always some other factors that had to be overcome. Mac was so old, and so senile that he thought "Dallas, Florida, Iowa, Heart of Dallas, Win, No try anymore, Head back, feet up, national championship, why not North Texas, recruiting, nah, collect paycheck" on loop over and over again. He thoroughly convinced himself one bowl win would solve every problem that North Texas ever faced in football. Littrell is not this naive
  3. I think Wheeler will be a key cog in generating pressure especially in one-on-one situations. The beauty of the 3-3-5 swarming/blitzing/attacking defense, from everything I've seen is what Ekeler is planning on doing, is that you don't have to have a Reggie White/Lawrence Taylor absolute dominant defensive end killing the tackles all day. Pressure will be multiple, and will come from different positions. So for me, Wheeler will be a "playmaker" but not so much as the scheme itself being the playmaker
  4. Sounds like you're head over heels in love with the guy if we're going by Vito's standards. It's as if major college programs can't be successful with smaller, mobile Quarterbacks.... http://www.uhcougars.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/greg_ward_jr_847107.html http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209397188 http://www.12thman.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=525 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Flutie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Wilson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drew_Brees I mean. Morris did play at A-L-A-B-A-M-A though. Did I mention he's tall? Edit: I thought I remembered seeing something like this last year: Kid is solid muscle. If Johnny Manziel can get hit in the SEC and be okay, I'm fairly certain Shanbour could take a hit in C-USA and be okay
  5. Article about the coaching job at UNT. Ranks us as 6th best in C-USA http://www.underdogdynasty.com/2016/5/17/11637408/north-texas-mean-green-cusa-denton-dallas-metroplex-ranking-best-jobs-utsa-rice-utep-unt
  6. So you're saying everything is RV's fault? #hijacked
  7. I was excited and am still excited for this staff, but it seems their social media game has fallen off considerably, which in the slow offseason is not a good thing. Willie Fritz was a name that many wanted as the coach here. He posted this a few days ago: Really hope Littrell and staff can step it up in the next couple of months
  8. I guess we like getting our asses handed to us on homecoming now "Thank you sir may I please have another" comes to mind
  9. Where the Hot local singles in your area congregate.
  10. Absolutely. Hoping Littrell will do the same for the football team. From everything I've seen and heard it seems to be moving in the same direction
  11. I think Jalie is gonna continue to improve every year until someone bigger scoops her up, I'm impressed so far with what she's done
  12. Rumor was he was the favorite to get the job when Jones left and then we pulled an RV
  13. The Maryak Marauder Mad Dog Maryak Maulin' Maryak I've decided your new alter ego has to be a wrestler. Perfect opportunity for alliteration names
  14. I agree with @untjim1995. In no way, shape, or form does C-USA have more upside. AAC has more money, better bowls, better schools, better programs, and is widely considered the best G5. The only G5 that would ever be considered in the national championship conversation
  15. 1)The Alec Morris experiment fails miserably by game 4 2)Quinn Shanbour leads us to a bowl year 1 of the Littrell tenure, 3)Mason Fine comes in and gives him one hell of a run for his money to start(Shanbour being a senior and Fine a RS Freshman) 4)North Texas becomes safe haven for midget quarterbacks with D1 talent 5)???? 6)Profit
  16. The main advantages of an air raid is it masks several deficiencies that any smaller football program has. In order to run the Dickey/McCarney three yards and a cloud of dust effective you have to have a mauling offensive line, good running backs, and semi competent QB/receivers to throw to keep the offense balanced. We have none of those outside of decent running backs(the jury is out on QB/receivers so far). So the air raid spreads the defense both vertically and horizontally. The problem with Dodge is his offense on spread the field horizontally making it one dimensional, this is why 4 verticals is such a staple in an air raid offense. It makes the defense respect the deep ball, allowing the shorter stuff underneath. The line has wider splits to allow for guys who are 280-290 but quicker to excel. Right now our line doesn't have enough of these guys to effectively give the QB the time he needs,as we still have maulers from the Metamucil McCarney offense. Maybe they'll improve over the summer/fall and get it together. Maybe they won't and Morris gets hurt the 3rd game of the season
  17. Looks like this guy is transferring, would be great depth and a dynamic kick returner. From Jenks, which isn't too far from the hometown of our head coach http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&ATCLID=210936488
  18. I don't hate Morris, but I don't think he's as good as most people are trying to hype him up to be(conversely Shanbour probably isn't as good as I think he can be). I think O-line will be a massive liability this season, and I would rather have a guy that can scramble than a guy that will get hit but "can take it" People also tend to forget that while DaMarcus was as inconsistent as they come, our offense really opened up when we started using the read option. If we aren't going to use Wilson in the traditional running back role(stupid move if you ask me) at least get a guy in there that has the ability to run so the defense isn't constantly in Dime packages because they know we're never going to run
  19. And most of the pundits are crowning a QB that can't run and escape pressure and makes slow decisions. But he did play at Alabama and is big
