  1. I would expect to see him in there against UT, I was just using the projected 2 deep after spring for both teams. He's pushing 300. I'm not exactly sure why he was left off the 2-deep... Another benefit of having such a strong offensive line is that the young guys on the defensive line will get tough competition in practice which will only speed up their development. GrayEagle, I'm right there with you on Coach Patrick. Really excited to see these guys perform under his tutelage this fall.
  2. THIS, THIS & THIS Now, it's time to get this fan base fully bought in and sellout Apogee #Hit6Sellouts
  3. Projected starters would look like this with 10 lb gains: 6'4" 261 6'4" 282 6'2" 277 6'3" 263 For reference, Jadaveon Clowney is 6'6" 249 according to Wikipedia.
  4. 5-10 lean muscle mass gains across the board would be terrific. That would get the average pretty close to where it was in '13. Thanks for that comparison DT90!
  5. Matchups crossed my mind as I was writing this, I think our O-line can handle them. Tasty, 30-40 lbs is not that drastic to me. However, you have to play with more guts (not size of dog, but fight in dog). I also believe they will add weight, as well as be "supercoached". The combo of these 3 is the key to victory vs their O-line. That's why I don't want to read about these concerns now. Read so much last summer from DT haters when all he did was go out there and play hard. I believe the culture that has been created will develop every player on our team. So eat, train, and eat some more. DirtySavage, keep it dirty! But...projected starters measure up pretty well.
  6. The point that there is a lot of time left and they can gain plenty of weight in 15 weeks. And the point that we have quality coaches who will get the best out of them. Love the passive aggressive start to your post though, keep it tasty!
  7. I keep reading references to our "small" / "undersized" D-Line so I thought I'd see just how we stack up against Texas and their "superior" / "big" D-Line. Referenced projected 2 deep after spring ball. Top 4 are projected starters: Texas: Malcolm Brown (not the HB): 6'4" 305 Desmond Jackson: 6'1" 305 Cedric Reed (D's best player IMO): 6'5" 258 Shiro Davis: 6'3" 249 Bryce Cottrell: 6'3" 240 Alex Norman: 6'4" 295 Hassan Ridgeway: 6'4" 300 Caleb Blueitt: 6'3" 250 Marcus Hutchins: 6'5" 280 North Texas: Malik Dilonga: 6'4" 251 Austin Orr: 6'4" 272 Alexander Lincoln: 6'2" 267 Daryl Mason: 6'3" 253 Jarrian Roberts: 6'2" 238 Dutton Watson: 6'3" 273 Sid Moore: 6'1" 267 Chad Polk: 6' 223 Andy Flusche: 6'3" 230 As a whole, our D-line is 208 lbs. lighter than Texas. About 23 lbs. per player. They also have 10 inches on us. Looking at the projected starters, Texas weighs in at a combined 1,052 pounds while North Texas weighs in at a combined 1,043. Talking about a 9 pound difference between 4 players...oh, and there's also 15 weeks left to increase muscle mass. While none of these guys probably won't reach the 300 mark, they all have an opportunity to add some weight. So let's put this phrase to bed for the rest of the summer. We are not that drastically undersized when you actually evaluate the numbers and there is plenty of time left to get bigger and better. I think this group is in real good hands with Kevin Patrick, John Skladany, and of course, Coach Mac. Like Wolverine once said, “They say that heroes are born, not made, babe! That’s bull! I’m livin’ proof! Bein’ a hero’s more than havin’ some sort o’ power! Look at Storm! Look at Captain America! They either never had powers or they lost ‘em! What keeps ‘em goin’ is guts! Without guts all the power an’ trainin’ in the world don’t mean spit!” It's going to take guts, and heart, to beat Texas. That's where I give our boys the edge.
  8. Every single person outside of Mean Green Nation will pick the Longhorns to cruise to a victory in their home opener. We got a little more than 15 weeks to lift, run, train, practice, get bigger, get faster and really put some Mean in the Green. No one knows what is coming, but I believe with the time, preparation, focus, intensity and desire that Coach Mac & crew will go into Austin with the best possible chance for victory. I ain't scared of no cows.
  9. I beg to differ, this got me pumped. Although it doesn't take much. Upon watching the second time, I wanted to answer "I AM MEAN GREEN MAN!" 16 weeks, 3 days #BeatTexas
  10. Thanks for the info, will have to take a break from work to go listen in my car.
  11. I believe he was a TE, could be mistaken, but that is the one position in football where height can be a big factor. Anyway, see ya in Austin!
  12. Mean Green must contain Malcolm Brown. That's what I got out of watching. My guess is Ash will be in the game and we will only see Swoops if injury occurs or we have a lead at the half and Strong feels the need to make a change. Our best chance is to run, run, and run some more. O-line needs to ball out and open up some holes. No matter who our QB is, I would love to see DW get in there to run some triple option just to see if we can get them on their heels. There will definitely need to be some trickeration in order to catch them sleeping. Obviously, Texas is bigger, faster, and stronger across the board. One dude was like 6'8". On paper, they probably win 99/100 times. But paper can't measure heart, determination and toughness. I'm with Green Crazy. Nothing is stopping me from being in Austin on August 30! It's going to take everyone's best, including the fans.
  13. I'm focused on going 1-0. If they accomplish that, what is standing in their way off reaching the first ever college football playoffs? Rice? UTSA? The Hoosiers? Ponies? Marshall in a potential CUSA Championship game? I ain't scared. As Mean Joe once said, "Bring em on, bring em all on!" McCarney's track record shows he is one who can maintain success. Last year was good, heck, great in my opinion. But he's not satisfied and neither are any of the coaches or players. I'd be shocked to go 6-6, every home game is winnable. If we (the fans) create a dominate home field advantage, 6-0 at home. My personal goal for this year is to #Hit9. Planning on travelling to Austin, San Antonio and Houston and attending every home game. If you don't think we "have arrived", let me remind you....
  14. The trophy is on a coffee table!?!?! Goodness gracious....
  15. What's naïve? The fact that we just had a great season and he should let people who are disinterested know that they are missing out on something incredible? In theory, Cotton Bowl should have been sold out. 200K alumni in DFW area? 15% show up? Less than that don't care to go to Apogee and when they do, they stand outside on the hill and drink the entire game away? LongJim nailed it, he has to say these type of things. He has to grab their interest. He even must exaggerate because they do far more exaggerating when they laugh about NT Football...and yes, it still happens! For myself, and everyone on this board. There are only two words that Coach Mac has for us. THANK YOU. He tweeted it yesterday, or maybe a grad assistant. I hung around to check out our new seats after the crowd left Saturday. Just hanging out in Apogee soaking in the beautiful weather. Right as we were about to leave, I saw Coach Mac come through the tunnel and take some pictures with a couple of young ladies by the Eagle statue. I ran to section 101 or 102, and right as he turned to head back up the tunnel I yelled, "COACH MAC!". He turned and saw Mean Green Man holding up talons and he yells back, "THANK YOU!". He is genuine. He appreciates all the support he can get. He wants more, and not for himself but for these young men that represent our university. His enthusiasm is contagious. And guess what? The media loves him. They will want to cover him more and more and that is only a good thing. Don't try to read into what he says or think if he says fan support sucks he is talking about you. It does suck. Apogee should have sold out last year. UTSA game was pathetic, seniors deserved better than that and the crowd was the reason we lost...I was surrounded by UTSA fans in the front row of OUR end zone. #BeatTexas
  16. Just on Saturday my friend posted on FB that he got season tickets. "How did you get to the front of the line?" "What'd that run ya? $50 for the whole season? Bahahaha" "Best $10 you have ever spent" "We got a football team?" All alumni from our time there when we were going to NO Bowls every year. These are the people Coach Mac is trying to reach and will keep trying to until he is blue in the face. What's pathetic is that he has to. All these guys are football fans, they watch college & NFL games. However, they can't be bothered to give a crap about their own university. Not even after the amazing year that was last season. Coach Mac asks even if you are the mildest fan ever, why not jump on board? I cannot answer that question. Makes no sense to me. He is building something special here. There are still detractors on this board, heck, even in this post. As Coach Mac once said during a radio interview at Rudy's, "let's take the negativity out of it"
  17. "McCarney expressly forbid the publication of injury info in the spring unless it was officially approved for dissemination. He did pull back the curtain just a smidgen. UNT has been without starting safety Lairamie Lee and backup Chad Davis who is out with a minor injury in addition to James Jones this spring. McCarney mentioned all three, and they are not the only ones who are not playing in that secondary." - Brett Vito
  18. I would have us first. Mean Green vs. Marshall in the CUSA Championship at Apogee. Bring the noise.
  19. I got the most important retweet I've had in my short history with Twitter. Came from Xavier's Mom. Upon viewing her profile, I notice right before my retweet she tweeted, "Plz remember my son is a 17 yr old kid when tweeting. This was very hard and emotional choice for him plz think of his feelings." @Apex_mom I hope this is mostly directed at the UH fan base. Was I bummed? Of course! But this young man made a decision that he felt was best for HIM. That's what all these college athletes do. Fan is short for fanatic, but you can make the decision to carry yourself in a respectful manner. X will talk to juniors who will become seniors and new prospects. He will tell them "I didn't go to UNT, but man, I wish I did. He'll list the many reasons why, and then either say "...and their fans showed me major respect even after I didn't go there". Or, "...but, I didn't go there and I got slammed by every Mean Green fan". Please be mindful that social media is a powerful tool that can work in our favor, or not. It's all a matter of how we decide to use it. As Coach Mac said on the radio show after my Facebook questions was reworded and taken entitrely out of context, "Let's take the negativity out of it." That has become my new motto.
