  1. We've had some over pursuit issues with our D line - Tulane for sure - but these last two games it has seemed like we've corrected them.

Last two? What about the MUTS game?

Grammar had over 100 yards rushing and over half were on pass plays were he had to scramble. Most of the scrambles were right up the middle to. He did it all game right up until Sed knocked his lid off.

  2. Last year when thins got bad they started this true freshman at qb.

Kid had offers from schools like Clemson, Bama, and LSU but things got disastrous. He completed less than 45% of his passes and disgruntled fans were criticizing his play, which ticked his mom off and this happened.

She ended up getting arrested at the game. Losing seasons are tough on everyone and we've been there. Putting in another true frosh this year shows they have nothing to lose. Teams with nothing to lose can be dangerous, but if you get them down their frustration can grow exponentially. Get em down early and often.

  3. Preach.

There is a certain faction on here that view any legitimate football strategy debate as a personal affront. Weird. It's like Coach Mac and his staff have 50 accounts on GMG.

So far, I've been accused of "wanting Coach Mac fired", being "disgusting", along with many other things from people who are either just plain juvenile or can't argue back with a football point.

    Kinda funny.

I've been accused of clinging onto Berglund and Trussell's respective jocks because someone didn't agree with me. Funny how personal people can get if they don't agree with your OPINION on sports.

This season has a chance to be a special one. Anything that prevents it from being so is going to frustrate the fans who really do care and don't want to settle.

  4. So what I say is correct, but you just don't like to hear it? Got it.

    Carry on .

Any gameplan that includes intentionally getting down by 2 scores so you can "figure out what they are doing" is a completely failed game plan in my book.

    But that's just me.

No, not just you. I don't agree with you about everything, but I do think it's ridiculous why you're getting blasted.

So would fast starts hurt our team because we wouldn't be able to "wear down the defense" by pounding our heads constantly into 8 and 9 man front early in the game? Especially on first down. We still only scored 21 offensive points yesterday.

We have this outstanding line that received as good praise as you can get from an opposing player, some dynamic receivers including chancellor and smith, and some darn good backs. Just because we are beating teams that are vastly (yes, vastly) inferior doesn't mean we should be satisfied with being down 10-0 late in the second and only putting up 21 points from our offense.

People keep saying "just win." Of course that's all that matters. But what results in an ugly, "just win" type win against La Tech could easily result in losses against teams like Rice and Tulsa. And for those who haven't seen those teams play, we should beat those teams, especially since Rice is a home game.

  5. 90s pot is spot on for the first halves. We continue to dig a hole for ourselves to dig out of. What would our record be if we weren't down 10-0 or 14-0 at the end of every first quarter?

Exactly. Just because we are capable of getting out of these holes we are digging ourselves in doesn't mean we should keep doing it. Rice, and even Tulsa are games that it will probably be pretty tough to get ourselves out of a big hole, should we dig one.
  6. I would say A. Johnson, Abbe close second

Kind of hard to tell since A Johnson was being redshirted his freshman year. Really wish Abbe had been redshirted so we could have him for next year.

He played o-line in high school so that year he could've really used a redshirt year while he was cutting weight and learning how to play defensive line. But, Todd Dodge was in desperation mode so he needed Abbe.

  7. Ohio improved to 5-2 today and Ball State improved to 7-1. They have to just be kicking themselves that they lost to us. Also, Georgia dropped their second straight game. Not a great season for those guys.

Saw someone compare our loss to Tulane and Ball State's loss to us. Big difference IMO. We outgained Tulane by over 130 yards, while Ball State was not able to outgain us (we outgained them by about 10 yards).

Regardless, our tough out of conference looks to have done a pretty good job of preparing us for this conference slate.

  8. That's a really weird reference. Did he mean he'd be looking for a fight, or he'd be worried about getting tackled while undressing? Awwwkwarrrrrd....

He meant that he would be looking for Orr hiding under his jersey, because he couldn't seem to get Orr off of him all day. Twas a very weird reference.

  9. Just FYI...my Ok St Cowboys found a way to win UGLY over TCU today in the early game...hey, where is Froggy these days? OSU benched Denton's J W Walsh in the first half after a couple of terribly ugly interceptions. And OSU fumbled the ball away on about the 6...but found a way to win ugly. UNT can do the same.

If we can hold on we'll have a better record than TCU and SMU. Best record in the DFW has a nice ring to it.

  10. Love it all you want but talking crap about recruits and our recruiting standards does nothing but help hurt our program. He and OUR RECRUITS don't need your subpar high school expertise or recruiting websites to know where he needs to be. It does however, hinder hinder relationships that these parents and family members form with our staff and our university when you publicly slander them. I know as fact that our players and our recruits read this forum. Please be mindful of that as you post.

As a side note: not all offers are exposed publicly. And if you're judging strictly on film I would revise past statements on SEVERAL RECRUITED PLAYERS THREADS.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Not talking crap about any recruits. Just stating that it's nice to have underclassmen pushing upperclassmen for starting spots. We've had upperclassmen starting by default in the past. We're seeing a lot of freshman making it hard to keep them off the field despite having experienced guys in starting positions.

Regardless of ranking and who was offered by who, it's good seeing freshman push for playing time like John, Fred Scott, Sed Ellis, and Darvin Kidsy. That shows me that our recruiting is improving, because we have the depth where we could've redshirted the guys, but they've proven too good to keep off the field.
