Interesting. You would think mom would want him closer to home. Maybe Claude Mathis can talk to her about it and sell Coach Mac to her.A source who is close to the desoto program, I don't know if its official yet so I don't want to say too much. Basically his mom wants him at LaTech but he wants to be at UNT.
Anyways, Moms are the second most important person to convince in recruiting and sometimes the most important. A running back from Florida named Alex Collins had his mom steal his letter of intent because she didn't want him to sign with Arkansas.
Hopefully if your reports are true then Howard and his mom can get on the same page. For the sake of everyone involved.

Where have you heard that?I've heard Howard Wilson is considering switching his commitment to UNT.

Nick Orr is listed as a soft verbal to TCU.

Also, as Cooley has stated, I would like to see us go after the cornerback from DeSoto, Howard Wilson. He's committed to La Tech but it'd be cool to see us flex our muscles and pluck one of their commits away.

They did. Both came into FBS last year. I don't know why they would be bowl eligible and UTSA wouldn't be this year. Maybe something to do with UTSA being a start up and having their first season just the year before last.Ok. For some reason I thought they had come in at same time

We're finding out what the big boys have known for years. You have to take care of your business and leave no room for the computers in the BCS to screw you.
-
We've got depth and will have plenty of star power back next year IMO. Don't know if we'll be as good as we are this year, but we'll be fine. What's going to happen to us???
-
Seems like Tulsa has no idea what they're doing at the qb position.

Even though they're "up-and-coming" I feel like UTSA will have a drop off next year with Soza graduatingSoza scares me. I think he's probably the best QB in CUSA

If FAU can't pull off this win then UTSA at home might be our best chance for Tulane to lose a game, besides when they play Rice.

Off topic, but for some perspective we are 4-0 at home this year in Apogee and 3 of those wins have come against teams that should be playing in bowls.
-
Oh, thanks! Forgot about Freddie! Big-time player who could be special if healthy.Warner was moved to safety, so expect him to push there. That is your depth and competition.
Davis should stay at CB.
Really need to do their best to pick up a big JUCO DT. Doesn't have to be a top guy, but it will be hard to replace this year's version of Abbe with 260 lb guys. Someone as good as Atkinson would be fine.
I agree about picking up a JUCO d-tackle. We usually give Dodge a hard time for burning Derek Thompson's redshirt, but man I sure wish Abbe could've redshirted while he was learning to play defensive tackle as a true freshman back in Dodge's last year. If only Abbe was a redshirt junior. We're really going to miss him, but at least he's given us a senior year to remember

With USM, UTEP, UTSA (without Soza), La Tech, and UAB in our division that should be 5 conference wins right there. Rice on the road could be pretty tough, but they're losing a lot too.I like our team next year.
There will be growing pains early but still a 6/7 win team.

There's quite the demand for a game-breaking return man in the NFL. He's built stocky enough too, so won't get decleated by a kicker like a pure track guy like Trindon Holliday.

I think our defense will be a bit worse next season, some of those defenders will need a moment to play at the level of this years seniors, but overall the defense will still be ok. I also think the offense might not be better than this season, because chancellor will certainly be missed, and whether any of the QBs is actually better than DT has to be seen. What I do fear though is a steep regression in special teams. I think our incredible depth and of course Brelan have a load to do with our awesome special teams play this year, and BC will be gone and depth everywhere will be thinner nex year.
Right. Defense will probably regress at least a little. The thing is that there is a good chance it won't regress a huge amount. That's all we need.
As far as offense, as long as that line is back we can do a lot on offense. DT has been a lot better, but he is still 12/11 touchdown to INT ratio and not much of a running threat. I wouldn't count out Berglund. The kid has been in Mac's doghouse this year but he still shows up everyday and works his butt off. Also hard to count out mini Mac and of course the coaches still like Dajon. Either way should be fun to watch our offense add that dimension of a running qb.
Receiver may have a drop off, and so may special teams but I think our special teams are good as a result of coaching. Although having Brelan sure helps.

Redshirt Freshman Syd Moore and true freshman Shaq Jackson could crack the rotation. Jackson has looked pretty dang disruptive for DeSoto this year.I'm not concerned about the back 7 in terms of starters or depth. I am concerned about the front four. I'd really like to see us nab a big bodied DT. We need weight and added depth along the line

Davis is bigger and a better tackler/harder hitter. Not saying he'll translate perfectly, but he hits well enough and he's still just a true freshman.I would like to see Whitfield moved to starting safety. He seems to make good plays on the ball when he sees it leaves the qb hands vs one on one coverage with his back to the qb.
Davis is probably the worst person for safey. He is a cover corner and unt safeties are hitters and run stoppers.

I know it's a little early for this, but one of the things I took from the game last night is that our defense looked as deep as it has all year, especially on the line where we saw a steady rotation. There is a lot of concern about the void the current seniors will leave, but at least a on defense we will have a lot of experience, even if we lose 6/7 starters.
Here's an early look at our starting defense for next year, or at least what it'll probably look like heading into spring.
Defensive tackles: Austin Orr, Alex Lincoln - neither start but both had sacks last night and have looked pretty solid, despite being undersized
Defensive ends: Darryl Mason, Chad Polk - Mason is a co-starter and Polk has been in the rotation all year
Linebackers: Akunne, Wallace, Sed Ellis/Fred Scott - Ellis has been seeing the field a lot lately, not just in mop up duty and Scott has been good too. Wallace was good enough to not redshirt at Oregon, which I like. Our other successful BCS transfers (Trice and Pegram) saw the field as true freshman.
Cornerbacks: Jones, Buyers - Jones has become a star and Buyers has been as consistent as it gets. Whitfield can make plays from the nickel.
Safeties: Lee, Evans/Shilleci/Chad Davis - Lee stepping up as not just a playmaker but also a leader will be big. Evans has experience but Shilleci could make a push and I could see the coaches bumping Davis to safety for added competition.
Guys like Orr and Abbe will be hard to replace, but we have a lot of guys getting experience and they could be capable of keeping this defense going strong. Especially with new guys coming in and potentially JUCO guys.

We would really keep that offense in check with Gurley and Marshall out. They've really sputtered without those two backs, who we contained well ourselves.Give us another shot at Georgia, we would win.
-
Second game in a row where we faked a handoff and Jimmerson leaked out of the backfield and caught a pass downfield for a touchdown. That play can take some time to develop, but the line gave DT all the time he needed then some. The three headed Eagle was a great play and kept Rice off guard once they started using it, it was the formation that got JimJim wide open for his TD
Really like how we can use our backs.
-
Lol, I didn't credit us with number 6 because it was on there because of the spectacular catch, not so much the James Jones tackle. Although it was pretty solid coverage, just an amazing catch. We had three at one time.
The James Jones tackle was # 6
Brelan's 65-yard return was #3
and Trice's pick was #2

Reminds me of the reaction by the Ball State fans after that game. I feel like both those teams/fans went into that game feeling like they were superior and after losing they felt like it was because they played a bad game.
I am biased, but I really feel like we beat Rice and Ball State and made them play their "worst" game of the year because we are better than them.
Always fun to frustrate opposing fans and beat them so bad that they think the sky is falling.

Lol that's a good thing! Likes are probably at an all time high on this website. Great day to be Green!I'm so disappointed I can't give you a plus one as I'm out of votes. I'll definitely need to watch the rerun.

We had the #3 and #2 plays for the night. 3 was Chancellor's punt return and 2 was the twice batted pick that Trice ended up with.

They were good and we beat them. Game did prove to be a good barometer. Nice callexactly. UNT plays well at Apogee. Ball St. will come in expected to win. This game will be close. Can UNT dig deep and win? This game will be a key barometer.
