  1. Someone asked why he was a risk. Size is why he is a risk. He and his coach both talk about this freely. its really not controversial. Hopefully it pays off big for us.

Did I mention I like this commit?

I argued that he isn't really that big a risk. His size is a hindrance, but for what we are going to ask from him I don't think it will pose much of a problem.

If we had him at qb it would be a risk, or if we had him at running back his size would make it very difficult to run in between the tackles. But his one job is to be dangerous when he's in the open field and our coaches are going to do what they can to get him the ball in the open field a few times a game. Mainly on returns at least to start out his career.

  2. When you play the #9 team in the nation that sports a Heisman-quality RB and you play another team with one of the best QBs in the nation, they're gonna put some yards on you.

Not to mention Murray was in basically the whole game. It wasn't like they pulled him one drive after halftime because the game was in hand. He was throwing all game and often.
  3. High risk, high reward recruit.

    I like it,

I don't think he's a high risk. If we were bringing him in to play qb then I'd say high risk.

We're bringing him in to contribute which I think he will do. Return specialist to start his career and later could be a guy to get a few carries and/or a few catches a game.

As we saw last year when Jimmerson and Chancellor went down, you need to have a few playmakers to spare.

  4. He'd be a very good get for UNT. Doesn't have long speed, but is physical as hell and gets off the ball well for a guy who isn't gonna blow you away vertically.

He would have an offer list similar to Tee Goree if he was a definite qualifier. Goree will likely wind up with a couple BCS offers.

I was wondering, since Rutherford seems pretty big, if he could be a guy we pack some weight on and move to tight end as a pass-catching threat like we did with Marcus Smith.

Also, you seem very in the know with regards to East Texas football. Keep us updated with these East Texas kids if you can. Very much appreciated.

  5. Certainly worth the positive PR in my neck of the woods. This will pay dividends. Joey McGuire (Cedar Hill HC) tweeted "they are smart. Kid is amazing".

Wish I had 1 more course in posting tweets!

Yeah, me too. I wanted to post that tweet by McGuire as well. Also, our linebacker commit Jalen Montgomery from Mesquite tweeted about how good White is after the news of the offer broke. White is well respected in the area.

White is dangerous with the ball in his hands, no matter how small he is.

  6. We have to keep this commit at all costs.... guy is a certifiable stud.

He has not committed to us yet.

I hope he commits as well, but I do have my concerns. Having seen him play three games in person, he is a completely different when he's going against a good player.

He looks great going against average to below average varsity lineman, but I saw him play against Katy and against Allen. He got completely worked all game long by Bobby Evans of Allen. Evans is a junior who is already committed to OU and he made Washington look like a completely different player. Evans at 6'5" showed why Washington's height is an issue and he hasn't received more offers.

All that being said, I hope we get Washington and we can develop him. He has potential, but he has a long way to go.

  7. Rice held on, 18-14. Mchargue was 9-27 for 66 yards, no tds and 1 int. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of RS sophomore Driphus Jackson from Cedar Hill, maybe to the point where he is starting by the time they play us. They'd been rotating him in a little bit, but they didn't today. Not sure if he was hurt or not.

Either way, Rice has not been very impressive this year outside of maybe the A&M game.

  8. Kram has a point, but 90, armyofdad, and UNTfan23 are completely right. I get that we should put last season behind us, and I have tried very hard, but I just have no clue how we're supposed to just forget that happened and look forward to this year.

Some are saying that we got rid of some attitudes that caused the downfall of last year's team (TM13 and PJ to name a couple), but who's to say that none of these new guys will cause some locker room discord? Not to accuse guys who haven't done anything wrong yet, but it's a very realistic possibility.

I want to be excited for the year, but looking at things realistically is making it hard to do.
