  1. He plays at a 3A school (formerly knows as 2A), but they have pretty nice new jerseys and helmets.
  2. Lol. Yeah, the thing about Tee is that he's coming from a school in Carthage that was great at football, but being a 3A program I can guarantee he didn't have the weight program that some of these 5A kids had. Plus he played basketball, baseball, and ran track so he wasn't like some of these other kids who were football year round. It's hard to bulk up when you're doing the extreme amounts of cardio that basketball, track, and even baseball require. He'll put on enough good weight naturally, but like GMG24 said, his job is to get open and make plays. He's already pretty good at that.
  3. Thank you. Just about to post something to that tune. People are always overly concerned about these WR's weights like they're going to be running in between the tackles. Another interesting thing to note about Tee is that he's only 17 currently. He'll put on plenty of natural weight in his time here. As for Pegram, he's a big back. He never had speed like Jamario, but he's an effective big back. We have other guys to be our speed backs.
  4. We may not be overlooking the talent over there, but the fact that other schools do is what makes East Texas so good for us. The lack of exposure those kids get, compared to DFW kids, makes it a lot easier for us. Plus, a lot of out of state schools that recruit Texas focus on the big areas (DFW, Houston, SA). Getting guys like Tee Goree and Sam Miller is huge. But could you imagine Tee Goree playing for a school like DeSoto or Southlake, or Sam Miller playing for a school like Coppell or Arlington Martin? They had about 10 offers each before committing to us. They would've easily had at or over 20 had they been playing for schools like that. Maybe we still would've landed them but it would've been a lot harder. Still plenty of talent in DFW for us, but East Texas will be huge for us going forward.
  5. Commits WR Rodney Bendy, OL Chett Munden, and DE Sam Miller made the super team. Uncommitted players on the super team who hold North Texas offers are Lufkin OL Erik McCoy, Longview OL Broderick Washington, and Frankston WR Kendrick Rogers (Junior). http://etsn.fm/2014-etsn-fm-preseason-east-texas-football-super-team/
  6. Not sure if this is still Baxter's intent, but if he does commit tomorrow I'd think we're in pretty good shape. He's visited at least twice including last Friday.
  7. Pretty sure Bingham has two different scout profiles, but he's now rated a 3-star on scout.
  8. Visited. Very similar to Mcwhorter. Big defensive ends who likely project to 3-tech DT in our scheme. Both have identical offer lists (us, Colorado State, and Texas State).
  9. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Bingham start at corner along side Whitfield, or someone else, next year and see Buyers move over to safety.
  10. Yup. Both our safeties were at or below 190 last year and they were a junior and a fifth-year senior.
  11. He's a verified 6'3" 224. 6'3" is too short for offensive tackle. 224 is way too light for o-line. Asking this kid to gain 70-80 lbs is not going to happen. We're likely taking 5-6 high school offensive linemen this class. Those guys will be the linemen we ask to take over in the future. If anything this kid plays defense. If he's on offense, he's playing tight end.
  12. I was thinking we'd take a good blocking tight end this class. Like a big kid who looks almost more like an offensive lineman, like Andrew Power or Wylie Reinhardt. This kid isn't as big as those guys, but he could be that blocking-type tight end. If Caleb Chumley (who is grayshirting and will come in as a QB), ends up moving to tight end, then you'd have a blocking specialist and a receiving specialist at tight end. If you look at our roster, our tight ends are very top heavy. The scholarship guys are all seniors and juniors except Wylie Reinhardt. Tanner Smith is a senior, and Cooper Jones, Marcus Smith, and Chris Loving are juniors. If this kid and Chumley redshirt next year in 2015, then in 2016 all those guys would be gone and they'd have a great chance at playing time.
  13. Yeah, there isn't much on him. For a kid who plays for a school that won a 5A state championship in 2011, (when Smith was a freshman), he seems very under the radar and under-exposed. Although they did go 2-8 last year. I don't think I've ever seen a team win a state championship then go 2-8 just two years later.
  14. Why does everyone think local schools need to play in certain cities in Texas to get exposure there? Baylor doesn't need to play any games in DFW to recruit well here. Waco is an hour and a half away. It's not like their some school from across the country who kids over here have never heard of. Same with OU in Houston. They don't need to play in Houston to get exposure their or to help with recruiting. Every recruit in this state knows who Baylor and OU are. They don't need to schedule out of conference games in the two biggest cities in this state for recruits to know who they are. They just need to win and they get to compete for the top kids in the state.
  15. Those are his sophomore highlights. Here are his junior highlights.http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1576935/highlights/109098375
  16. Appears to have committed. http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2014/07/looks-like-unt-picked-u
  17. 6'3" 224 lb (Sparq verified) athlete out of Dekaney high school in Spring, Texas. Plays tight end for his high school but is listed as a linebacker in some of his recruiting profiles. 18. I'll be honest. I'm grateful for the job the coaches and RV have done, but I want more. I try not to be too greedy, but with the state of college football changing drastically soon I don't want to get left behind. If there were guarantees in the stability of current conference structures longterm, I wouldn't feel so hasty to win like we never have before so suddenly. Without getting into an argument about conferences and conference realignment, I wish the goal would be to build off last year and start getting in position to get an invite from the smallest P5 conference/the P5 conference with room, and the P5 conference in our region. The Big 12. As great a job as Coach Mac has done here, 6-9 wins a season over the next few seasons will be very good for us and be one of the best runs in school history, but where would that put us? If plans for major change happen, we may stay stuck in the G5 despite solid seasons, and G5 will be almost like getting sent down to FCS the way P5 conferences may be in position to take over. Now if we could win 10+ games every year, who knows? I think last year proved Mac can win without a bunch of 3-star kids with double digit offer lists. I think he will this year as well. But as good as he develops the kids we have, I think our potential is so much higher if he could pull in the Zach Orr's, Tee Goree's and Sam Miller's with more regularity. I am grateful for everything Mac has and ever will do for this program. CUSA has been great for us. But truthfully I really fear that getting a bunch of underrated kids and overachieving in the CUSA may not be enough to prevent us from getting left behind in these impending changes in college football. But if anyone can do it, Coach Mccarney and his staff can.
  19. Spot on. I give more credit to the evaluators, but other than that I agree. Also, I'm concerned that our commits will not be re-evaluated. Very few of our commits were re-evaluated last year and most were ranked on signing day the same as they were ranked at this point last year. Even the kids who had break through senior seasons. Like you said, not having subsites on the recruiting websites gives the guys from the recruiting websites little incentive to re-evaluate our commits. But as ntmeangreen11 said, we aren't improving much as far as winning recruiting battles. But it honestly has not been that surprising. Good recruiters are not relying on winning seasons before being able to win recruiting battles. Hopefully our coaches can be good enough recruiters, coupled with their exceptional developing abilities.
  20. 1st team all CUSA last year and newcomer of the year, after transferring in from JC. Averaged 17.7 points/game and 4.3 assists per season last year.
  21. I know. I was posting it to confirm that OU wasn't going to UH's new stadium. Cougar King said possibly OU, and that tweet was the news that the OU game wouldn't be at their stadium.
  22. Rice's stadium is 45K capacity, not 70K plus. What about Houston? If you're going to say "why play UNT when you could play SMU or TCU?" Then why place Rice when you could play Houston?
