  1. Not bad since Middle Tennessee, ECU, and FAU would be in the east division and it would slide S. Miss and Tulane over to the west division. A division with Tulane, Tulsa, S. Miss, UTSA, Rice, UTEP, L. Tech and UNT is light years better than where we were.
  2. I'm with you. A steady rotation of TT, smu, TCU, Houston, Baylor, Texas State, Army, Navy, and Air Force would do nicely. It's hard to get excited about playing teams that have people asking "Where are they located?" type questions.
  3. CUSA is the perfect place for us right now. Regional rivals = higher attendance. With UTEP, UTSA, Rice, Tulsa, L Tech and smu (2014-2017) on the schedule our attendance average should jump by 5,000. I would like to see Texas State on the schedule every year rather than a MAC team. Some form of rotation that would bring Baylor, TT, TCU, and Houston here would be even better.
  4. Yes, but let's not panic. I still think Captain Dan can save our ship.
  5. Well, since the title was "..." I just thought "_ _ _ ..." was the appropriate response considering the topic was posted in football. (Morse code)
  6. My posts were just making jokes following a joke. However, after watching some of his videos on youtube all I can say is he's no joke. It's like watching Hunter Lee and Michael Stojkovic in the same video. So I'll ask the same question I asked after watching Hunter Lee. How is he getting passed over?
  7. I also noticed in 2011 he rushed for 1,154 yards on only 105 attempts for a 10.99 average. So obviously he must really be able to stiff arm defensive players with his short 400 lb bench pressing arms.
  8. At 6' 1'' and 210 with a 400 lb bench... obviously his arms are way too short to be a DB.
  9. The guy who stands 10 yards behind the QB in a victory formation.
  10. You have to stay optimistic even in bad times by remembering better times...like watching Baylor getting trounced at Fouts...or watching students haul off a goal post after a win that gave UNT a Sun Belt championship... or watching Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas run in the years they won national rushing titles...or sitting in the rain with a few other fans watching Lance Dunbar set the all time career school rushing record with a 313 yard game...or sitting in a packed old gym screaming "welcome to the pit" with a bunch of crazy friends...or just watching Steve Ramsey throwing any pass. It can get hard for fans to stay optimistic if they don't stop to remember all the good stuff they saw over the years.
  11. A true fan is one who is still in the wagon cheering after the wheels have fallen off and the horses that were dragging it died. Who said it would be easy? However, I agree it's best to keep your legs crossed while onboard the UNT wagon. GO MEAN GREEN!
  12. What does Savannah St. have in common with Sam Houston, Grambling, Florida A&M, LaLa, Northwestern State (it's in Lousiana), L. Monroe, New Mexico (twice), James Madison, Western Illinois, and Missouri State? This year they were all home games at Big 12 schools. The Big 12 loves homely.
  13. Exactly the point I was trying to make. We can ask the prettiest girl (UT) to the dance (not a chance in hell she says yes) if that satisfies everbody's ego, but as we work our way down the list to more realistic chances, it may get down to the homely girls (Texas State, etc). You can put 2 bags over her head and one over ours (just in case) if it makes everybody feel any better. However, she might be an ok dancer and have a great personality. It's just a date. You don't have to take her home to meet mama. Bottom line is if we want to fill the ballroom we need to stay with local girls. The past shows it works. Texas Southern drew 22,259 this year and they don't get any homelier than that.
  14. Why are you setting your sights so low? What about UT/A&M/Baylor/TT/TCU? We all would much rather play them home and home. However, will they play us home and home? Home games against Texas schools along with Army, Navy, and Tulsa have drawn our biggest crowds. Even Texas Southern drew 22,259...this years biggest crowd. Some people would rather play Idaho or a MAC team than UTSA or Texas State. Can we develop a rivalry with Idaho or a MAC school? Will they help turn out a bigger crowd than UTSA or Texas State? My point is let's start with UT and work our way down the list until we have 6 home games that are in our best interest. TT or Baylor might even play here just to see the new stadium.
  15. Highest attended home game of each season. 29,437 Baylor.......... 2003 last 8 years 22,259 Tx Southern 2012 28,075 Houston.......2011 23,743 Rice ............2010 23,647 Army............2009 22,785 Tulsa...........2008 26,012 Navy........... 2007 25,231 smu ............2006 23,112 Tulsa.......... 2005 I had to piece it together, but I think it's correct. Who draws the largest crowds? Think about it.
  16. What happens when the big BCS bowl carrot is gone after next year? $$$ become a huge issue as they dry up. Houston's attendance fell last year as they reported tickets that were passed out (27,286) not the real attendance. smu's attendance is....well...sucks an egg. smu's nose is too stuck up to ever admit they made a mistake or return to CUSA. However Houston might look for a friendly place to land. Our disdain for UTSA or Tx St drives me crazy. What about building regonial rivalries and filling stadiums? How about a CUSA that looks like this: West......................EAST UNT..................... Marshall Houston................UNC Charlotte Rice.......................Old Dominion Tulsa..................... MT UTEP.....................FIU UTSA ....................Southern Miss Lousiana Tech ......FAU Tulane or Tx St......UAB You want something bigger and better for UNT? Can CUSA be a stepping stone to that place? Then we need 2 things on a consistent basis: wins and an always packed stadium. Do that and other conferences will notice.
  17. Under the "it won't happen but wouldn't it be great if it did" category...If UH and smu were to rejoin CUSA it would look like this. West......................EAST UNT..................... Marshall smu.......................UAB Houston.................UNC Charlotte Rice.......................Old Dominion Tulsa..................... MT UTEP.....................FIU UTSA ....................Southern Miss Lousiana Tech ......FAU The west division would be a great place to be. It would have rivalries galore.
  18. CUSA should try to get up to 14-16 teams ASAP. Power in numbers. I would love to see the west division with UNT, UTEP, L Tech, T St, Rice, UTSA, and Tulsa. We could end up with some fun rivalries and a good schedule.
  19. So let's recap. UNT fan's have TCU envy and some of us secretly have purple hanging in our closets. We are preoccupied about other schools and their recruiting. We are angry at UTSA for a number of reasons. Mainly because they played an easy schedule and went 8-4. They did lose to all 4 bowl bound teams. UTSA is our most important game next year, If we lose to the Roadrunners we replace the coach, the AD, and the mascot. (Scrappy the Eagle must endure the humiliation of wearing a Wylie Coyote costume as penitence)
  20. I'm worried about next years UTSA game. When we play the Roadrunners I just hope we are not calling plays from the Acme playbook.
  21. I predict if we lose to them next year heads will not roll in Denton. They will explode.
  22. What would happen if you recruited only jucos? Would you end up with scholarships that you could never use? At 25 per year would you run into a numbers crunch mess? McCarney did what he had to do by recruiting and redshirting so many freshmen in order to get us back to full scholarship numbers and develop some depth. Dodge left him with his hands tied from a scholarship standpoint. He is having to weather that storm. Is McCarney the greatest on field coach? No, that coach lives in Boise, Idaho. However, he is going about rebuilding this team the right way. Give him some time to recruit and develop young talent. At that point some of his "bad calls" will start to look like "good calls" because he will have the talent, experience, and depth to make them work.
  23. It worked when Coach Gennero brought back Paul Blake.....Was that too obscure?
