  1. I don't believe that genre of information needs to be leaked out to the public prior to the first phase of the stadium being completed.
  2. There's already a set of plans for it from HKS in the Athletics building.
  3. Don't forget another 15-20 suites on the visitors side would divide the lower bowl and upper deck on the expansion. An additional 4 suites would be added to the ends (2 each) on the current press box/suite configuration.
  4. Glad to see North Texas at least make a run at local players. Guyer has a pipeline of FBS talent going.
  5. Question for you fans out there: If you're Georgia Tech, and your consistently competing for ACC titles across the board, you have a large Atlanta fanbase, and you're on ESPN every football game; what do you gain by going to the Big 10 (16, whatever it ends up)? I know the revenue sharing in the Big 10 is lucrative compared to the ACC, but I think the ACC is a good league that the Ramblin Wreck can be in the upper echelon of, while maintaining status as a good academic institution. Does the cost of sending your women's golf team to Minneapolis, Ann Arbor, Columbus, and West Lafayette get covered by an extra couple of million dollars you gain from revenue sharing?
  6. I am not worried at all about this matter. In fact, I know most on here don't like 'stealth' recruting, but at this point that's what our coaches are doing and it seems like their asking kids to keep quiet. Can you blame them? I mean almost any other school in the country can knock North Texas to a recruit while talking on the phone, sitting in the high school or living room, whatever. So, our coaches offer, tell kids to keep it hush. They do. Come early February, we're sitting here with 10 verbals or whatever that we don't even know about as a fanbase. Look at this year: Chris Bynes (WR Coffeyville CC via St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Florida), DeAndre Wood (CB New Mexico Military Institute, via North Carolina-yes Tar Heels...kid won the 5A 100 meter dash state title as a SR), Mike Miller (DE California JC who was an all region player), Jamize Olawale (TE/H Back California JC via Long Beach Poly HS). These are a few examples of kids we didn't know about who are VERY good athletes and solid recruits. Now, going forward as we improve, get into the new stadium, start playing on TV and winning conference titles in C-USA I think our staff(s) can afford to publicize things and other schools (besides OU, Texas, aTm, OSU, Ark, etc) won't say a whole lot about it. That's where I want us to get, and by golly, we're on our way!
  7. So baseball (lack thereof) is going to put is in 3rd place. What a shame.
  8. I'm most worried about #2 DeAndre McDaniel, who's arguably the best defensive back in the nation this fall. He could really change a game. Also, we need to make sure and block #93 DaQuan Bowers, who was the #1 high school recruit in the nation a few years ago, and is now blossiming into a Top 5 NFL pick. Offensively, thank goodness Spiller and Ford are gone. I hope it rains that Saturday in Clemson and slows them down (ie TCU this last season).
  9. I believe UCF is North Texas fast forward 3-4 years.
  10. There's hope for improvement in all areas. The schedule is tough, but I think the quality depth at many positions, and bona fide offensive playcalling will alleviate a lot of mistakes/close losses that happened last year. There's a silver lining, and I'm excited. Keep it respectable at Clemson, hell upset them! Keep the fan base intrigued and morale positive. Then come to Fouts and kick Rice's A$$ (hopefully)! If that happens many people will be drinking the kool-aid and there will be a buzz surrounding the program.
  11. Great find. These type of things make searching for games, results, etc. much easier.
  12. I believe this deal's going to shake out sooner than most people believe. It will be interesting to follow the snowball effect.
  13. I believe we'll see Royce Hill starting at CB as a returning 2 year player. Mike Miller will see immediate time at Defensive End, and don't be surprised to see Jamize Olawale fit in at TE along with Chris Bynes at WR. Wishing Tobe nothing but the best!
  14. I agree with this on for sure. There are no excuses for this team in 2010.
  15. Love it! Hilarious. Or maybe he can just throw another tax on the wealthy programs? So teams like Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC will have to re-distribute their massive earnings to lesser programs like UNT? I like the sounds of that as a NT fan, but the problem is that in real life nObama is re-distributing what I and many others have worked so hard for. Won't go any further with that, but your post was hilarious.
  16. They wouldn't strictly for that reason alone. That money is more money than any other sports program can produce/gain in a scholastic year. Though football is a small piece of the puzzle, OU and texas would have a tough time garnering the type of money and accolades they currently do in the Big XII.
  17. Please explain how that is ridiculous? A lot of folks who live in the Big XII geography are disillusioned and believe the Big XII is on par with the Big 10, SEC, and PAC 10 when it comes to conferences. It's staggering how un-real that truly is, and this article is somewhat of a testament to that.
  18. Florida State and Miami will never be in the SEC. Florida has so much power (a lot of the public has no idea about this) in that state and conference that they will not allow that to happen.
  19. Great point! Texas and Oklahoma would not be happy with their results on the football field going to the SEC. They'd be in the upper half of the conference, but not at the very top year in and year out like they are in the Big XII. On that note, hopefully Nebraska continues to be on the up and up and improve the league.
  20. I'd take them both in a New York minute if they're motivated to work enough to get on the field somehwere else and not just use a scholarship to get a free ride. "Quitters" is a term way overused by the majority of the Mean Green fanbase and needs to go by the way-side. Why did they choose not to return to Texas? The article states playing time, but the reasons could go a lot deeper than that. Texas is one of about 5 or 6 schools in the country (Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State) where the depth and recruiting is so far above other programs, and good "3 star/4 star" high school athletes could never get a chance for a number of reasons. Programs like North Texas can benefit tremendously from athletes like these two in particular. These "bounce back" players tend to bode well for almost every other program in the country, including some of the big programs I listed above (see Colin Peek the TE from Alabama this past year, was a 'bounce back' from Georgia Tech) and these players are everywhere. We certainly have welcomed Tyler Stradford and William Cole with open arms (though Cole was on his last rope academically) and why not welcome as many as possible? Unless there's unspoken off the field baggage that the AD would find out ahead of time, take a chance. What do you have to lose? These guys are probably bigger, faster, and stronger than anyone on the North Texas team at their respective positions. As someone mentioned, Troy does quite well with them, and why can't we?
