  1. North Texas is 3-3 all-time against Boise St. 1994 Boise L 20-24 (1-AA Playoffs First Round) 1996 Boise W 30-27 1997 Denton L 14-17 1998 Boise W 21-13 1999 Denton W 17-10 2000 Boise L 0-59
  2. The first game I ever remember seeing was the 1977 Sun Bowl between Stanford and LSU... I was a huge Charles Alexander fan from that point on even though he never really amounted to much in the NFL... I am pretty sure I was also at the 1975 Sun Bowl between Pitt and Kansas (Tony Dorsett played in that one) though I don't remember anything of it... My father and I have been to every Sun Bowl game since 1977... He is 77 now and that streak may end this year as he is almost completely blind now and may not want to attend... Last year was the first year I took my son and he and I may have to start a new streak...
  3. I had a great time at Fox and Hound, though I only got to talk to a few people ( was a little shy to introduce myself)... I was the one with the injured 10 year old... LOL We are first time season ticket holders this season and are really looking forward to the rest of the season...!!
  4. This actually brings up a good point that is pertinent to this conversation... What a stadium is named and what it is called... No one named LSU's stadium Death Valley... The name of the stadium is Tiger Stadium and the name of Clemson's stadium is Memorial Stadium... Nicknames like Death Valley are born through supporter tradition and media inertia... That is why I love something along the lines of Villareal Stadium... It will be called the V almost by default and that is a cool name... Stadiums that have nicknames are the ones that are iconic... Like "The Blue Field Abomination" in Boise... Well, that one might have been coined by rival supporter groups...
  5. I love the FSU white helmets... Not sure about the whole white uni, but the helmet is great...
  6. I am a huge fan of the white helmet... I hate to admit it, but one of the best looking uniforms in college football are Oregon's alternate uniforms with the white helmet and green "O" and the all-white unis... They are on the far left of this picture: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/.a/6a00d83451c3cb69e20115704e3ef3970c-pi&imgrefurl=http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college/2009/06/oregon-changing-their-stripes-er-feathers-this-football-season.html&h=1024&w=1280&sz=572&tbnid=xZ5hWRujRGT6AM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Doregon%2Bfootball%2Buniforms&hl=en&usg=__WL7qiGk5Zu7DplI8EANAQJJl_KE=&sa=X&ei=zRw3TPXGM8P-8AaI-JmbAw&ved=0CCIQ9QEwAA
  7. I didn't really like the "down on touch" rule... I completely understand it, but I think it makes some of the plays really cheap... There is a big difference between touching a quarterback and tackling him... A number of big plays occur off of quarterback scrambles and it is pretty rare that a qb can't throw the ball away before he is sacked... I know why they did it, but I hate to see the qb not get a chance to make something from nothing...
  8. I agree that Hamilton looked really good in today's game... He ran really hard and changed directions very well... He and Dunbar are going to be fine... The sideline play to Tyler Stradford was also a standout... He caught the pass, turned outside and caught a serious extra gear to get about 15 more yards... Tune made some big league throws, but also had some wheels off moments in the pocket... Thompson seemed to have some trouble with his delivery at times... Low throws, etc... All in all I thought it was very encouraging and I can't wait for September 11... My son and I are officially season tickets holders as of today...
  9. My 9 yr old son and I are planning on attending the Spring Game on Sunday and I have a few questions maybe someone can answer... 1) Game time is still 3:00pm...?? 2) Will there be any kind of fan fest or something of that nature...?? 3) Will the ticket sales office have a presence there...?? We are planning on buying season tickets and I would like to discuss options with someone at the game... 4) Will tailgating be allowed...?? Any guidance with these questions is very much appreciated... Jeff Georges
  10. They did make the front page of ESPN Dallas, however... ESPN Dallas
  11. I have to admit I am one of those... Although I did attend UNT in the 80's (when we were still 1AA) I graduated from UTEP and have been a Miner diehard my entire life win (not that often) or lose (quite often)... When my wife and I moved to McKinney I was looking for a college team to support and since I had been a student at UNT it seemed natural... I only get to watch UTEP play in person in DFW once every other year in football and once every year in basketball, so that hardly meets my need for a sports fix... I have attended about 10 UNT games in the 11 years I have lived here, but with my 9 year old becoming a football maniac this next year I am going to break down and buy season tickets for the both of us and then again for the season to open the new stadium... I am exactly the kind of person that needs to be chased by the university marketing team... I don't have a large vested interest in the fortunes of UNT sports, but I have greatly enjoyed the games I've been to, have bought gear for my son and I and have been really made to feel part of something by the fans we have met tailgating, etc... That being said, any idea when football season tickets go on sale...??
  12. I worked security as a student for a Pat Benatar concert at the Super Pit in the late 1980's... Also remember my freshman year (1986) the Pit being unavailable and having to watch a game at the smaller gym that was used for rec sports... It was a game against Lamar who had a Charles Barkley clone as their best player... Ah, the days when all you had to do was flash a student ID to get in a game...
  13. We'll be coming in from McKinney on 380... Any suggestions on where to park...?? Usually in the past I have just trickled down to the campus and found something there, but is there a better way to go...??
  14. Tomorrow I will be taking my 8-yr son to his first UNT game... Are there any tailgates or fan areas where we can meet other fans...?? I attended UNT from 1986(NTSU!) to 1990 and moved back to the area with my family a while back... My son has gotten really into football and there is nothing better than a college gameday experience... So, point us in the right direction... We'd love to meet some fellow fans and introduce ourselves...
  15. Turner should have struck while the iron was hot last year if he wanted to be upwardly mobile... His Buffalo team this year is just a shell of what they were last year after the graduation of QB Drew Willy and the pre-season injury to star RB James Starks... His name won't be so hot this off-season as it was after that MAC Championship and International Bowl appearance last year...
