  1. When you consider UNT competes in 2 sports less than W. Kentucky and MTS the results are very good.
  2. Great, passion on the bb board. I hope you are right about Mitchell. However a point guard that averaged 12.2 points for a last place jc team and does not show in the top 10 in the conference in assists does not usually excite many fans. Downtown, I do enjoy your optimistic view; what is your take on Mike Jones?
  3. I hope I'm wrong too, but for a coach with a reputation as a great recruiter it beginning to look very suspect. With a last place team losing 3 starters the future doesn't look too bright. Recruiting seems to hinge on taking lightly recruited players and hoping someone develops or taking chances like the LSU transfer or JC transfer that had to set out a year.
  4. Hate to hear that Trout will not be able to play her senior year, she was one tough player. Disagree that losing the two freshmen will hurt the program. Three point guards in one class did not seem to make sense. Wish Ms. Brown the best and hope she finds a good school to transfer to. Two more ships available should greater help the team.
  5. I hope Watson's ranking is substantially understated, you are not going to build programs with the 59th rated player in Texas.
  6. From your post, you have the same question I do. Does Johnson have a 11/2 or just 1 semester of elibility? He was a jc transfer at LSU but has already used a redshirt year. Does anyone know?
  7. Actually, if you consider the Lady Eagles conference trends; they may by beating the worse team in the conference have met their biggest challenge. They seem to play much better against the top rank teams. Should be a good game again Western Kentucky. Go Lady Eagles.
  8. For making first team all conference for the second year. Considering the overall team performance, this is a great honor.
  9. Does not seem to be a lot of interest in UNT basketball. But with the lady’s game tomorrow what are the group opinions on their chance of success. IMHO they have proven they can beat any team in the conference but have certainly not proven they can consistently win. Winning four games in a row would be a challenge. However, because of the lack of a dominating team in the conference, I believe the Eagles have a good shot at the title.
  10. Beaten at home by a very bad team.
  11. Referees stole the game. Free throws SAU 35-48, UNT 12-17 How can a conference game be called like that.
  12. Don't disagree with anything you said. Trilli's teams were the worse I've see in 30 years, so I hope that is not any kind of standard. Again my concern is recruiting which has almost always been a problem at UNT. With JJ and staff's coaching ability hopefully they can develop the program without high profile recruits, but it is going to be more difficult.
  13. NT75, I am also concerned about the current BB staff’s recruiting ability. Based on the hype I expected at least to have recruiting at the early Trilli level. So far it appears that we are not competitive with the upper half of division 1 schools including the Sun Belt. Based on what has been reported; J. Green the best player thus far recruited had only one other D1 offer, L. Green did not start at his JC, both Thomas & Harris were not even the most highly recruited players at their high schools, Ronniger was rated the twentieth something best player in La, the highest rated Texas player was rated in the fifties, and Jones the JC player signed picked UNT over Southland conference schools. This type of recruiting has worked for DD, but it will be IMHO more difficult in basketball. BB players get so much more exposure than fb players it is less likely that you can be successful by getting only the second tier players. That being said I believe that all Jones’ recruits could develop into very good players and I hope that happens.
  14. They did and probably still give out a large number of academic scholarships. They are not only backed by the great UT system but also have been blessed with huge private donations. They have invested in academics and it is now paying them dividends demonstrated by the ratings. IMHO UTD will be UNT's main competition for academic prominence in north Texas not SMU or TCU.
  15. Interesting question. I believe Bobo could be better than Reades. IMHO Reades was actually better in her freshman and sophmore year than later. I don't think she ever fully recovered from her leg injury. Reades was good at distributing the ball and a great rebounder as a point guard. Bobo if she continues to develop could be something special. She could be better at scoring than Reedes and could be a better defensive player. She is at this point the best of the freshman players outplaying the more highly rated recruits.
  16. Lady eagles had an excellent game and made the predicted conference champs look slow. This UNT team is going to get better and better.
  17. Congrats CaraBear you did a great job singing one of the most difficult of songs.
  18. The UNT lady eagles just played the number 2 team in the nation and apparently very few care. Maybe 500 in attendence with 100 being LSU fans. The lack of support for UNT programs continues to amaze. The UNT lady eagles have got to be the worst shooting team I've seen since my son's 6 year old YMCA team. Although LSU defense is one of the best there were just too many missed layups and shoots from over 5 feet that didn't even hit the rim. Unforced turnovers were also plentiful. That being said the UNT team does have fire and fought to the end and actually had a substantial rebound lead. This team does have talent and with only a slight improvement in the offense, they should develop into a very good team.
  19. Awasom was on the bench but just joined the team.
  20. CUSA officials, hard to believe that we play 3 or 4 times straight in Fort Worth and then don't get to chose officials. I wonder who from UNT signed that contract. Disappointing game. TCU definitely outplayed UNT in the second half. There were some goods signs for UNT including Chris Davis offense comming alive in the second half and UNT out rebounding the Frogs. Crowd was also very disappointing. First home game against a metroplex rival and only an announced crowd of about 3,000 including maybe 50 fans from TCU. I guess the only consolation is that our announced 3000 crowd was significantly larger that the UNT at SMU annouced crowd of 4,000.
  21. Good win. Not sure it means anything this early but Weber State was rated no. 59 in the sagarin ratings.
  22. Kelsie scored 27 pts in victory over Arl. Lamar last night.
  23. Not sure anyone could have beat SMU with those referees. However, UNT got clobbered inside and as you said Rogers was about the only bright spot. I did think Ronniger also played well.
