  1. Life imitates art, Necessary Roughness style - except even the writers for Necessary Roughness didn't go so far as making Lucy the Homecoming Queen!

Michigan Girl Kicks Winning Field Goal After Being Named Homecoming Queen

Amat was already a soccer star at Pinckney High. She told her soccer coach she wanted to kick footballs as well. Head football coach Dan Burholder was impressed, so he put her on the team. Friday night was Amat's biggest game against Grand Blanc, who was ranked No. 7 in the state.

Amat got a note at halftime telling her to come out of the locker room. To her surprise, she was crowned homecoming queen during the game.

The Sun Belt Conference's University of North Texas Mean Green just last Saturday in the most modern on campus major college football stadium in the entire USA beat the Big 10 Hoosiers of Indiana.

Former Dallas Cowboy Super Scout Gil Brandt On North Texas' New Apogee Stadium:

"It's a Taj Mahal. It is an unbelievable facility. I think I've been to every college stadium that's ever been built and this is really, really something special. I came up here a week ago just see it, and the attention to detail is unbelievable.........

A Big 12 Conference Interim Commissioner Chuck Neinas Quote: " I would say based on what I know about facility construction, they are getting a [great] deal for $78 million. It will be a top-notch venue that will complete the athletic complex."

  3. I don't know if they still do, but back in the late '70s Indiana had a very good jazz program as well. The drummer a year ahead of me in High School went to Indiana. I actually found out about North Texas from him, as another drummer he became friends with transferred from Indiana to NT.

I hadn't thought about that for a long while...

They got a name for the winners in the world

    I want a name when I lose

They call Alabama the Crimson Tide

    MEAN GREEN!

Actually, I'll probably have one or two Shiners at most, and I certainly won't be driving.

  5. regardless of 4,000 or 2,000, how many nt fans would travel to houston? hopefully we will play them in a year or so and find out.

I hate to bring up the Rice fiasco of 2008, but we travelled pretty well for that game - and that was only a week after Hurricane Ike. Between those living in Houston who didn't go because they were still cleaning up, and those who didn't make the trip from DFW because of Ike, it could have been even better.

My wife and I watched the game with my parents on the TV and my mom said "WOW, I can't believe how many UNT fans there are at the game, they look like there is more of us than Rice."

Not close, definately more Rice fans than UNT. Sitting in section 304, it looked pretty full. But then watching it on TV there were a lot of gaps. While we were tailgating, Dr. B dropped by and said they expected between 1000 or 1500. I think that was a good estimate. Official attendance was 16885.

I'm in Sugar Land - I can't wait for us to play UH down here!
