  1. Those of us in Houston can watch it! Comcast Sports (CSS) is carrying it - ch 129. I didn't realize it starts at 6pm - I would have missed half the game if I didn't search the web to see if it was available in Houston.

I'll either be at the Sugar Land Ragin' Cajun restaurant - if they'll put the game on - or my friend's house (I have DISH, he has cable).

  2. Wow we won? I was in the Houston area this weekend and the crappy Houston Chronicle had us as four point losers. Big win!

I'm surprised that the Chronic-Ill had a score at all - that's one of the reasons that I no longer subscribe (there's plenty of others). Even if we're playing UH or Rice, it's hard to find a story, so it's the last place I would think of looking.

  3. I'm excited to see what promotions the AD is planning for this epic collision!!!!

It's the MUTS so... "Adopt a Dog" night, sponsored by KNTU :whistling1:

    Adopt a dog

    Adopt a big dog

    Unless you live

    In an apartment...

I don't think I've heard that PSA this year, but unfortunately it's ingrained in my brain and associated with Mean Green basketball.

  4. I agree that the "hill" is just fine the way it is, and makes for a unique tailgating experience. My main suggestion about the Hill is to have some extra paths put in, and paved, to help with access.

There also needs to be pathway put in from the east ticket area to the parking lot area adjacent to the Alumni pavilion.

Absolutely. I only made it to the pavilion once (the first game), and my wife wouldn't go at all, since it meant either climbing over the hill, or walking almost the entire way around the stadium. If you have a green parking pass, great, but otherwise... It made me feel all of my 51 years to make that hike.

  5. A guy in my office who lives in Katy and is up on Katy Football (at least, he knows who Mike Stojkovic is), came up to me today and said that he heard TD is going to be hired at one of the Katy ISD high schools. He was pretty excited about it. I don't know which one - I should have listened closer - but I don't think it's the Katy Tigers. There are something like 7 high schools in Katy ISD. I told him about the Marble Falls rumor.

So it sounds like TD has interviewed several places. It does seem pretty certain TD will be coaching at a Texas high school next year.

BTW, the guy's mom is a UNT alum, so I keep him up to date on the Mean Green.

  6. I just got this a couple days ago about the history of Jews and Chinese restaurants in New York. It's a pretty long read, but I found it immensely fascinating. Sure was nice to read something that had nothing to do with adjusted basis!

So I just have one question. Are the eight nights really all that Crazy, or was Adam Sandler just hamming it up?

Thanks for sharing! Wow, a scholarly paper on Jews and Chinese food! Wonder if they got a government grant? :P

Having grown up on Long Island, and with the rest of my family still living there, I offer this observation: No strip mall on Long Island is complete unless it has a Chinese take-out, a Pizza Parlor, and (at least since the 80's) a nail salon.

I liveed in Park Slope for two years before moving back to Texas, and in reverse-commuting to Long Island, used to pass this restaurant almost every day: Shang Chai Kosher Chinese Restaurant Never ate there (never was that curious), but it always gave me a laugh!

As for "Eight Crazy Nights", I guess it was crazy if you got

presents every night. I didn't, and I don't know anyone else who did, so no, it wasn't crazy. For better or worse, Chanukah is a Christmas substitute.

  7. Do you have a particular Chinese restaurant you'll be going to on Sunday?

There's some truth to that stereotype. My wife & I were married on Dec. 20th (25 years ago, in the University Ministry Center, which was then also used by the Denton Jewish Congregation - but I digress), so we were on our honeymoon during Christmas. The only restaurant we could find that was open on Christmas day was a Chinese restaurant. I still get a laugh out of that. I can imagine that most of the people there were also Jewish.

And, by the way... Get out your harmonica, it's time to celebrate Chanukah!
