  1. Any thoughts about the new chairbacks? I sat in the sample for a minute, and it is comfortable, but it isn't cushioned. At least it will be better secured, and won't go "crack!" when you sit down on it. And, it will be green.

I didn't even think to take a picture of it - can someone who's picking their seats today or tomorrow take one?

I wonder how much would it take (money) to install them permanently, at least in all of 105, 206, & 207?

  2. I picked my seats at 2:15 today. The seats along the aisle separating sections 206 & 207 were almost all filled about 4 - 8 seats deep, and Rows 9 - 13 of section 105 were filled with the exception of a few individual seats.

It's a matter of prioritizing. I decided that being closer to the 50 was more important than being up higher. My wife decided that she could deal with crawling past several people to get to our seats, if she could avoid having to climb the stairs to the upper bowl. So, we decided on section 105, row 8, seats 5 - 8. Being closer to the field is also is good for some of our friends who occasionally go with us who have eyesight problems.

BTW, The staff is cautioning that the first few rows in the upper bowl may have the view somewhat obstructed by the rails of the stairs (if you're not standing), but make your own decision.

I'm hoping that KingDL1 will be able to do another flyover before the season starts, and we can do a GMG seating chart like we used to have for Fouts!

I'm glad I made the decision to take a day off and drive up to pick rather than do it over the phone. There's no substitute for seeing the chart of what is actually taken / available.

  3. Texas women do not like to leave the state.

I should know, I have been trying to move one to Florida for about 13 years already with no sign I will ever succeed.

You know I love you, but please don't make me choose between you and Texas. I can love you both, I think. :thumbsu:

    I'm enjoying this... :P

Male announcer: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone.

Female announcer: The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the red zone.

Male announcer: [later] The red zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the white zone.

Female announcer: No, the white zone is for loading of passengers and there is no stopping in a RED zone.

Male announcer: The red zone has always been for loading and unloading of passengers. There's never stopping in a white zone.

Female announcer: Don't you tell me which zone is for loading, and which zone is for stopping!

  4. I am pretty sure that number does not include potential SRO tickets. If the stadium is overflowing, capacity should be somewhere around 31,500, or something like that. Students can be crammed in really tight, and those grassy areas in front of the scoreboard should be able to hold some people as well (if they choose).

Not to mention the observation deck on top of the scoreboard. It looks like they're starting to install the elevators now.

    April Fools! :P

  5. A pedestrian bridge scheduled to be constructed by the Texas Department of Transportation won’t be in place until 2012.

Really? That soon? I wouldn't have expected the pedestrian bridge to be built until 35E is rebuilt - and I haven't heard a start date announced for that.

  6. There's also a BBQ run by a Baptist Church in Huntsville, Tx that is excellent, or so I have been told.

That's the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. I haven't been there, but I hear they have incredible BBQ. From what I understand, the church runs the BBQ stand, right on the grounds of the church. I found a video on youtube (you can find a video about everything these days):

Located off of Exit 114 on I45 in Huntsville

  7. I promised two weeks ago to take my wife to "Ragin Cajun's" in Sugar Land for Mardi Gras, with the same expectation as UNTLifer that we'd be one and done (that has made the run even more exhilarating!). So I'll be in the bar watching the game, while she takes in the music. Good thing that the bar area is separated from the main room by the kitchen, otherwise I wouldn't be able to hear anything. Also a good thing is that they have free wi-fi, so I should be able to chat - at least as long as the battery in my netbook lasts.

If anyone wants to join me, it's near the Super Target at SW Freeway & Hwy 6, behind the Beck's Prime.

  8. It shows to be available on ch 129 on Comcast.

Is it PPV on Comcast? I have Dish, and it's PPV:

    CloseCollege Basketball

Episode: Sun Belt Tournament, First Semifinal: North Texas vs. Western Kentucky (LIVE)

    From Hot Springs, Ark.

    LIVE

    6:00 - 8:30 PM ESPNPPV1 (455)

  9. 03:30 PM

    BASKETBALL

    NCAAW

    Florida International vs. Arkansas-Little Rock

    Uh... No.

That's the women's tournament game. Look below that, 7pm EST:

07:00 PM BASKETBALL NCAAM North Texas vs. Western Kentucky (Semifinal #1) (subject to blackout)

Looks like it's going to be blacked out in Houston again - WHY???????

    Blackout Status

  10. This is interesting:

Respondent’s headquarters and planes must be based in Dallas/Fort Worth Area. All round trip flights must originate and terminate at Dallas Love Field.

All planes must be Boeing 737, with seating for at least 137 passengers.

That pretty much limits it to Southwest. I don't see why they'd specify Love Field otherwise - DFW is closer to Denton.
