No question, Dunbar if he can play. But that's not to belittle Hamilton. Unfortunately, they're both seniors. Looks like we're going to be relying on Brandin Byrd next year.

Follow-ups could use "The Blues Brothers" and "Men in Black" for themes.
Umm, on second thought, maybe not black... How about "Men in Green"?

finally got tuned in. no chat?

So, what does one do on Nigel Tufnel Day? We're not too sure, but we'd like to imagine it's a day to do whatever you normally do -- only do it a little better. Take a look at your regular chores, your job, your schoolwork, and crank your enthusiasm up to 11. Extreme elevenness, that's the goal. Oh, and play a lot of loud music, too.

Thanks to all of our veterans for their service, including those in the Mean Green nation:
- I know we have at least a few veterans on GMG (although the only one I can specifically remember is DeepGreen) - thanks to all of you.
- Thanks to Ryan Boutwell's dad, and any other Mean Green athletes who have family in the military
- Thanks also to veterans who have also been Mean Green athletes - I know that we've had both a football and a basketball player in recent years who were veterans.

It does make a difference, because it implies that the street name is "Texas Blvd", which is generic, not "North Texas Blvd", which is named for the university.

North Texas was slaughtered 37-14 two weeks ago during their last game at 7-2, 5-0 Arkansas State while Troy was slammed at 3-6 Navy 42-14 last weekend.
Being beat 37-14 by a 7-2 team is a slaughter, but being beat 42-14 by a 3-6 team is only a slam???

Coronworl Denton...oh yes know Coronworl Denton very well. Went to school there, mother and father live there, ah yes. Go many weekend parties and polo playing cards in blidge club. Belong many clubs in Coronworld Denton.

Shut it down and replace it with "The Hungry Heifer".

While "If you build it, they will come" may not necessarily be true, "If you don't build it, they won't come" is much more true. On the surface, it does seem suspicious. But Troy was able to upgrade their stadium within the past 10 years, and is surviving. Is Troy not under the same Board of Trustees? What about South Alabama upgrading their program to FBS - again, are they not under the same Board of Trustees?
What if UAB was in the SunBelt, or was FCS - would they be allowed to build a new stadium then? I know, there's no answer for a hypothetical question like that.
It makes me even more thankful that we finally have Apogee Stadium.

TT playing in Austin - that ought to confuse some 'horns

Bad for us, but SJSU & USU to MW and LA Tech & NMSU to CUSA would certainly kill off the WAC. I've heard the same thing about the UTEP/NMSU relationship, so it doesn't seem likely.
Idaho will be the biggest loser in realignment.

This is such a warlike thread. Attack. Killing.
Can't we all just get along ?
You must be a baseball fan. Just remember what George Carlin said:
...And finally, the objectives of the two games are completely different:
In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.
In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! - I hope I'll be safe at home!

Would recommend the Brickseller in Dupont Circle but google says it closed.
What? Say it's not so...
It's been 20 years since I lived in Bethesda. Even if I could remember the places I used to go (other than the Smithsonian), they probably don't exist anymore. Like the Brickskeller.

He may not care about capitalization, but if he cares about the average alumni giving rate, then I bet he cares about capitalization.
I'm thinking that wardly is a fan of e.e. cummings

Does this have anything to do with Scrappy warning us about pterodactyls?
Scrappy is a bird; he doesn't seem to be afraid of Boomer...

Last time we played UH in the Astrodome were you one of the pushers back then; that is, pusher of the amplifier carts.
That was 1980. No, I was on cymbals that year.
The synthesizer was featured on an obscure (even then) Barbara Streisand tune called "I Ain't Gonna Cry Tonight". And then the best part of the show - we did a "Best Little Whorehouse" medley!
I have a picture of the 1980 band in my gallery:
-
Why did they quit that thing where one band member pulled a wagon with a battery powered amp for either an electric bass or electric guitar? Yes, of course, another one marched in front of that one, playing the bass or guitar. I think this was in the early 80's.
I got Shanghai-ed to push one of those amplifier carts in 1982, when I was the equipment manager/truck driver for the band - they couldn't get anyone else to do it!
I think 1980 was the first year we had the synthesizer, and I think the bass was added in 1982. I don't know when they stopped using it. Why did they stop using it? Probably because the amplifier carts were so heavy, and were not very mobile. Each cart had a large Peavy amplifier with two 15" speakers, four car batteries, and an inverter. It likely also was that the synthesizer just became obsolete, and they decided to stop using it, rather than invest more money. And it also likely coincided with the drum line starting to do actual formations, not just marching forwards & backwards between the sidelines. That's all that the carts did as well (go forwards & backwards).
The halftime show in 1981 was fun - we did an arrangement of Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor using the synthesizer. A Bruce Hall friend, and one of the original "Zebras", Mike "Spunky" Brunone, was the keyboard player that year.
With all of the mallet percussion, tympani, etc. in front of the band, sure, why not bring it back? - without the marching!
-
I don't know about Glory Hallelujah but I'm fairly sure you'd get a warm response to a half-time civil war re-enactment.
We could build replicas of the Monitor and Merrimack, flood the lower bowl, and have a naval battle!

Like the pick-up. He looks like a 6'10" Seal. Wonder if Heidi Klum will show for the games?
Can he sing "Fly Like an Eagle"?
-
Heckling the visiting team: Yes - they should expect it.
Heckling the visiting team's fans: NO! I'd prefer for us to be like ULL, not LSU.
