Game listed on ESPN3 however for our Houston alumni it looks like the game is blacked out.
That means that the game may be on CSS on ComCast in Houston - that's what happened the last time. I'll have to check the TV listings.
Edit: Yes it is! CSS Sports TV listings That's 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central.

Yeah, I know it sucks for those in DFW (never mind those in Arkansas) because it would be a longer drive. And it sucks for those of us who have not had the opportunity to make it to Hot Springs.
But Biloxi would be great - beaches, casinos, and it's close to New Orleans. The Mississippi Coast Coliseum (and Convention Center) seats around 10,000.
We might only be going there for one year, anyway.

I knew the name sounded familiar. I think I recall them from when I lived in Austin between 95 & 97 Either that, or from radio ads for their shows in Houson over the past 15 years. So they've been around - they're not a bunch of kids.

How about The I'm Trapped and Can't Get out Conference?
Better than the "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up" conference - the WAC.

Why not? We could be the first conference to monetize our conference name. The Sunoco Conference, The Sunny Delight Conference, The Sunkist Conference. Since they won't give us their big BCS money, we can go grab a little cash from corporate America.
It could be done with SunBelt - the parent company of Little Debbie.

This is more of a statement than a question, but here goes:
Football: Assuming that we will have an away game at UH, and regardless of whether we are able to adjust the schedule to have 6 home games, I would like to see the Athletic Department / University / Alumni Association make an effort to get as many fans as possible to attend the game in Houston. When we played at Rice back in 2008 (never mind the game itself
), ther was a tailgating event planned, but unfortunately Hurricane Ike caused it to be scaled back. Still, there was very good attendance for a road game; provided we don't have another hurricane, I would expect we can significantly outdo that game, attendance-wise.I would like to see:
- Significant marketing of the game, as if it was an extra home game
- An event on Friday evening
- A large tailgating event
- The Green Brigade's presence at the game
I hope this will be considered.

I'm hearing our 2012 FB schedule is set in stone... not the best ever but we are paying for the sins of getting Dodge one of the cushiest schedules ever and getting Houston here for the Apogee opener in 2012.
5 homes games is not ideal but we will have a fun and makeable roadie at Houston. 2013 gets a lot better with the 4-year SMU series starting up.
We then need to make the game at UH into a virtual 6th home game. The Alumni Association and Mean Green Club should work together on this. Those of us in Houston should be able to help - I'll have to get in contact with Derrick and Rob.

Good read.
I know some people on here aren't thrilled with Benson...but, if for whatever reason we remain in the Belt, I like the way he is thinking and the way he wants to aggressively grow the conference.
For those of you who have a negative opinion of him...why? He says things like this:
"Everyone always talks about "Who is the next Boise State" and I can honestly say why not North Texas?"
He sounds like a politician, saying what he thinks the "voters" want to hear.
I have no doubt that he will do what is best for the Sun Belt, but that is not necessarily what is best for North Texas. If the invitation to join the Alliance (sounds like Star Wars!) is offered, there should be no question about accepting it. Benson will undoubtedly do his job as commissioner and attempt to entice us not to leave - we need to have a deaf ear to his pleas.
If we don't get the invite, and we stay in the Sun Belt, then I expect we will find him to be a better commissioner than WW.

So don't listen to these guys. Do want you want. Maybe you don't ever play a down, but become a great scout team player that helps the players game-plan opponents each week. That helps the team a hell of a lot too.
... You just helped the team. Whatever happens, you can say you did your best.

Do you really expect Netflix to still be in business in a year or two? They already have taken a big hit with their PR goof last year, trying to split the mail & online business, and to charge for both.
TIVO faded away once the cable & satellite companies recognized the demand for DVRs and started supplying them. I expect the same to happen with Video On Demand and Netflix.
And even if the cable/satellite companies don't have a monopoly, there's still plenty of competitors - like Amazon, and likely Google.
I'll throw this one out - how about distribution through Wireless carriers' 4G networks?

Just curious... You're obviously on the underwriting side, are you with an agency or a company?
I worked in insurance IT for over 20 years, for software vendors, MGAs, and companies. I've been working in the collections business IT for the last 6 - boy do I miss insurance.

I recommend the Smarty Jones suite in the Arlington. It's an older hotel with a great history and is (reportedly) haunted. The Smarty Jones suite was huge and fairly nice for an older hotel.
Are all of the rooms named for racehorses? I know that Oaklawn Park is somewhere nearby. Cool!

On Twitter, Brett McMurphy just posted "C-USA/MWC new league will include 18 to 24 members, semifinal and final conference games". Hopefully that bodes well for UNT.
Playoffs. I have this bad feeling that this may be the seminal event which causes the AQ - "Mid-Major" schism that many have been expecting to happen. The CUSA/MWC presidents might as well just invite all the SunBelt, MAC, and WAC schools to join, and call it the I-AA conference. No one will ever get near a major bowl now.

I remember the announcers on CSS last night saying something to the effect of "Isaiah Thomas got to know Tony Mitchell when TM was going to the prep school here" (in Florida), and "he (Isaiah Thomas) thought he would get TM to go to FIU." Wishful thinking, or trying to talk up his recruiting reputation? Either way, it was absurd.
