  2. This brings up another question I have regarding SMU being the highest paid G5 job.... How long can they sustain that? Will they just keep throwing all that money at mediocre results? At some point you have to have a return right? That has to be the worst ROI of any program in the country..... Kind of pathetic
  3. I hear what you're saying 90. Yes AAC is in a better conference and SMU pays a lot. But how many rungs better makes it worth a jump? It's a pretty weak rung to jump. I think we would all agree most G5 coaches want to get to the big time. Assuming that's Littrell's ultimate goal....I don't think SMU does anything to help him get there. It obviously didn't help Chad Morris. He won less the 40% of his games there. The SMU job didn't help him. The Clemson job did. What was Dabo Swinney's quote? "Knute Rockne couldn't win at SMU" The general consensus is that is that's a horrible job. That's why they're the highest paid G5 job. They have to be. If a coach just wants to make more money and that's his ONLY motivation. Sure SMU is where to be. But if you want to advance your career, you better have a resume builder somewhere else in your experience because "head coach of SMU from x to x" doesn't really add anything. I'm not naive enough to think Littrell wants to retire in Denton (although I would certainly welcome it if he keeps doing what he's doing) but I don't know if the SMU job is enough to get him to move. Even for $500k or $750k more. He's 39 years old....the money's gonna come. Plus He's gonna get a raise here anyway. But at the end of the day, we don't know what's in Littrell's mind....
  4. Chad Morris just proved that you don't really have to win at SMU to get a big job..... For whatever that's worth...
  5. So are there any of their recruits now in play? I have to think we've got some targets there....
  6. A week ago I was pissy about the potential of playing there.....now reading this thread....I'm pissy I'm not going.
  7. Definitely an easy walk to everything French quarter from there. The casino is right across the street
  8. I don't even know in what universe that makes sense.....
  9. That is a good point....and got me to thinking about him and Seth Littrell... During the CUSA Championship game, they put up a graphic of a "blind resume" of coaches and which one would you pick. It was 4 coaches with record before they got to their school, record now, P5 head coaching experience and P5 asst coaching experience One was: 2-10 pre them, 7-5 now, 0 P5 HC expericence, 4 years P5 asst experience Another: 1-11 pre them, 9-3 now, 0 P5 HC experience, 11 years P5 asst experience Which one looks better? LIttrell is NOT a smooth talker...which could actually hold him back. Sometimes real substance isn't what moves folks up. (Boy, what a perfect place for someone that advances due to political reasons instead of actual performance....great fit there on the Hilltop)
  10. I hear you and I guess that counts for something... But his actual performance on the field has been mediocre I know he's respected in coaching circles but he has a sub .400 winning % as a head coach. I just don't see a big program accepting that....
  11. Commanders palace? It's fairly upscale. We went a long time ago but it was a few hours...different courses, excellent wine. Be prepared for an event. I remember the pork belly....one of the best things I've ever eaten.
  12. The lines are out for the bowl games. Every CUSA team is an underdog except for FAU. Including us as a 6 point dog Got some work to do!
  13. I mentioned this in another thread...the charbroiled oysters a Dragos right there in the team hotel. They're fantastic http://www.dragosrestaurant.com/about/our-oysters/ For a nice dinner....Commander's Palace. Probably my wife and I's favorite dining experience of all time. It's $$$ but it's awesome. https://www.commanderspalace.com/
