  1. Well....to answer the question of "How many games did he play in front of 30.5K screaming UNT fans" He pretty much played in two of them. And his record book is not the only one being re-written. We broke the all time attendance record last year and then turned around and broke that record this year. In other words, we've never had as many in attendance for a UNT football season in the 100+ year history of the program as we did this year. (In I'll add..an era where attendance is going down across the nation) I'm going to say with Houston coming in next year, we'll push the attendance record again. I guess we haven't reached our potential (which is what, to sell out every game?) But I think you would agree we're getting here fast...
  2. And since we're left to speculate: I'm going to look at his answer: "I have made my decision to stay here no matter what. Given that last part....It would seem reasonable that the question centered around "Hey Mason, if Littrell went to another program, would you go with him?" In that case....of course it crossed his mind. And then he would have to make the decision to stay "no matter what" Which is what he appears to have done. But if you report that the question involved Littrell leaving.....it's not NEARLY as shocking of a report. It would be a much different reaction. But again Vito left that part out. So here we are speculating.
  3. So the first thing I thought was "why is Fine even talking about this?" Which leads to my first question: "What was the question he was answering?" Vito didn't provide that. So we're left to speculate. Shoddy at best, dishonest at worst from Vito.
  4. Vito’s words were misleading. Having something “cross your mind” (Fines actual words) and actually “considering” it (Vito’s addition) are two very different things. He didn’t report facts. He twisted Fine’s words and suggested Fine was more serious about it than he was. Then he goes on twitter and adds more of his own opinion as to Why Fine would “consider it” (which he never said he did) If someone asked me one time what I wanted to do with my life. It would cross my mind that I would quit my job and move to the beach and sell coconuts. But I would never consider it. See how that works? but I’m gonna guess his article will get loads of clicks. That’s the goal for the media today anyway. So you’re wrong. He didn’t report facts. He twisted words.
  5. overtime easily the worst performance of the year. We were favored by 19 in this game...
  6. I heard the radio guys say we haven't had a FG in the last 9:00+ minutes?!
  7. Maine ties it with 0.9 to go 60-60
  8. Maine hits a 3 UNT 59-58 8 seconds to go UNT at the line
  9. He's gotten enough attention doing what he's doing at UNT. If he's going to the NFL, transferring won't help him. Either he can drop a dime in the corner of the endzone and hit a receiver in the hands on a 15 yard out or he can't. And he can. I just HATE the way the media does this....(Unless I'm missing something that wasn't reported) Mason Fine's words were "it crossed my mind" because obviously if someone brought it up it naturally would. But Vito takes that and turns it into Fine "briefly considered" transferring. That suggests so much more. And Vito knows it...it's why he wrote that. F'ing media. They're all the same. Fine's only mistake was he answered honestly. And Vito turned it into so much more. And this is going to turn into more. And there's nothing to it. This is why athletes don't give any substance or answer questions honestly.... He should've just said: "I just want to give 110% and by golly win some games" over and over....
  10. Fine said Tuesday that game won’t be his final appearance at Apogee Stadium. The Oklahoma native briefly considered transferring to play his senior season at another school but quickly dismissed the notion. “It crossed my mind,” Fine said. “You weigh the pros and cons. I have made my decision that I will stay here no matter what.” Hey @Brett Vito can we maybe get some context here? What was the question he was answering? Did someone at another school reach out? Did someone ask him if he wanted to play for...Washington St? WVU? Name a school with a good offense that needs a QB. In that case, yes, if someone said "hey Mason, you could transfer to a P5 school and probably start." Then yes, obviously it will cross his mind because....he was asked the question. And of course you weigh the pros and cons. But did he actually CONSIDER transferring? Having it "cross his mind" which is what Mason said. And actually CONSIDERING it are two different things. You say "he briefly considered transferring" Give me a break. This is another school reaching out to Fine.....Fine going....interesting, they want me.....then 2 seconds later going, "yeah I'm good" But now we get an article about it.....can't wait until Twitter gets it. "Mason Fine thought about transferring." Then half say "wow, I can't believe how ungrateful he was....this was the only school that gave him a chance." The other half is "Yeah Mason Fine's too good for UNT anyway." This is media bullshit. Bravo Vito. Good job.
  11. I don't know.... I would rather play in front of 60K at the Cotton Bowl than 10K in Albequerque
  12. I'm trying to wrap my head around the accusation regarding UNT officials. Maybe I'm missing something. So on the heels of the Baylor controversy, with a magnifying glass on sexual assault (especially among colleges)...we're to believe that UNT officials got a complaint and in order to protect the basketball program (led by 62-95 Tony Benford) they led a cover up and tried to sweep this under the rug.... The question in the tweet above is actually a good one. Why would they do that? What possible good could come out of that for UNT? What would the motivation be to take the risk of a cover up and hang this victim out to dry? What's the upside? To keep this under wraps so our losing basketball program doesn't get hurt?
  13. According to Jeff Jacobs of Hearst Connecticut Media, “With 85 scholarships and so many expenses, football by far runs the largest deficit. It required a $7.5 million subsidy in absolute dollars in 2014 … And at well over $40 million a year, … UConn athletics is the most highly subsidized program in the nation.” http://dailycampus.com/stories/2018/11/15/editorial-uninspiring-student-led-drives-may-force-uconn-football-to-punt-away-its-future Uconn is in one of those rare positions where it has an elite non-football program being dragged down financially by a big ole money sucking football program. I know that most football programs are "money suckers" but UConn is a "blue blood" bball program. I don't know what UConn's bball revenues are but can they offset the football deficit? Duke, Kentucky, until this year Louisville had football programs that at least competed. Not sure about Indiana's football program. Is there another top tier Bball program with a worse football situation than UConn? I guess Kansas. But they get P5 money.
  14. https://www.ctpost.com/sports/jeffjacobs/article/Jeff-Jacobs-As-the-season-dies-it-s-worth-13365185.php I ran across this article (and it's not the only one on this subject) and it got me to thinking.....what would happen if UConn decided to drop football and just focus on basketball? (A lot of people think it would be a smart move....can't say I disagree) What would happen if there was a vacancy in the AAC eastern division with Navy sitting in a geographically mismatched AAC Western division?
  15. Maybe... I don't know if him being there under Tubberville would hurt him...
  16. Whether you're running a football team or running a business....having a Quinn Shanbour on the team is so huge and it's so rare. His value can't be measured. I hope he stays in the program and I hope he goes into coaching. The sport needs Quinn Shanbour.
  17. This is what worries me.....desperation causes ADs to pull the trigger earlier than perhaps they want to. "If we wait a year, Littrell and Brown won't be available" Fans aren't the only ones that think that way. See Morris to Arkansas. No way is Morris a good pick for them but they had no choice. What's going to happen as more jobs open up? If Tech fires Kingsbury....what is a better option than Littrell for their specific situation? He's got that combination of a tough, boot and jeans guy (which they'll love in Lubbock), recruiting ties in Texas and the Leach offense with a favorite son as the OC. I wasn't worried about TTech until they crapped the bed Saturday.... I think Kingsbury is gone.
  18. I hope we get the bowl in Dallas. That game vs UNLV was awesome from an atmosphere standpoint (at least on our side) If we could get a good matchup with someone that would bring some fans there could be 70,000 + at that game. Would be great for the team to beat a good opponent in front of a big crowd to get to 10 wins. Great cap to a good season.
  19. Watching my brothers kids today.... Last minute decided to take my 5 year old and his 10 year old to the Super Pit today. Good way to get them out of the house. Haven’t been in a few years. Looking forward to it.
  20. I choose to believe that Emmitt knew what he was doing there and his post motivated the team to get out there and prove him wrong. Well played Emmitt.
