  1. I'm the sports editor at the hometown newspaper of this guy. He and his teammate Tre Hamilton (also a UTSA commit) have made the circuit when it comes to camps - Baylor, UT, UH, etc. That being said, he seems pretty set on UTSA. The Roadrunners have recruited our area pretty hard. Atascocita had another WR sign with them last year (Greg Campell) and a QB in the same school district is going there as well (Kingwood Park's Jaylon Henderson). One thing I will say is that he took the first offer he got. He and Hamilton both visited UTSA in February and were the first two commits for UTSA. You always wonder if those types of kids should have been more patient.
  2. And this is why you have no credibility around here.
  3. Aaron Murray threw for 408 yards in that game (yea almost 500, huh?) Gurley ran for 91 yards on 21 carries -- the following week he was limited to 71 yards (44-41 win over LSU - played whole game) and he had rushing totals of 75, 79 (close loss to Auburn - played whole game), 77 and 86 (bowl game loss - complete game) later in the year. We all know you're bad/lazy at research but wow.
  4. I'm pretty sure Ben Gooding has created "bully recruiting" in his head. A quick google search will show you that nobody in the history of the internet has ever used that term before. Sure there's oversigning which has been a problem but the outcome of that has nothing to do with what Ben Gooding describes (converting commits to walkons). Plus -- as pointed out earlier -- Wisconsin hasn't participated in oversigning.
  5. I saw Davis play a few times in high school and in 7-on-7. I was never very impressed by him. I don't think he has the type of arm that fits June Jones' system very well, either. Will be interesting to see how he works out.
  6. To be fair, no where in that article does he say that he has no intentions of going there. He just says he hasn't been contacted about the opening.
  7. Thats a big blow for a program that has won a total of four games in the last three years.
  8. Dodge was getting 5,000 for his spring games -- at least that's what the athletic department told us. I don't think spring game attendance numbers are really a reflection of anything.
  9. UH's top two scorers / rebounders are leaving. Maybe we can scoop them up.
  10. I remember going to a Dodge spring game with about 500 people in the stands. They brought that cannon and shot it everytime they scored a touchdown. Well our defenses sucked back then and both teams were technically the good guys so they shot the cannon a lot that day. It still scared the crap out of everyone everytime since you could hear a pin drop in Fouts that day.
  11. I say we partner with Denton ISD and build a big indoor practice facility.
  12. I read this board every day and Andrew never even registered on my radar. I don't know if that means you guys did a good job or failed. Either way congrats on keeping up with the ruse.
  13. Yup I spelled it wrong. Good job.
  14. It won't help football. When we were winning Sun Belt tourneys, it didn't boost attendance at Fouts. They are completely different entities. That being said, I'm actually jealous of SMU for once and it sickens me that we've not only fallen so far, but continue to allow ourselves to dig the hole deeper. I enjoyed trips to Hot Springs and the electric crowd in the Super Pit more than any football game during my time at UNT. It's really disappointing.
  15. It'd be nice if we could leave them alone on twitter, too. That could be asking too much though.
  16. Why are they "investigating" this now? Couldn't they have done this when the schedule was announced? And what investigating do they have to do? Can't they just go to MeanGreenSports.com and look at the schedule?
  17. Lets just hope we don't end up in the Boca Raton Bowl. How is that even a bowl?
  18. Originally published: Dec 30, 2013 - 5:57 pm Three universities will be represented in Tuesday's AdvoCare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, La. In the gridiron matchup, Arizona will face off against Boston College at Independence Stadium. But at halftime, the Boston College marching band will share the spotlight with Northwestern State's marching band, who has been hired to fill in for the Arizona band, according to Fox 33 News in Shreveport. The university, which located in Natchitoches, La., south of Shreveport, is well-acclaimed and expenses for the band, along with additional support, will be provided by Arizona. "We are glad to have this opportunity to both showcase our band and help give the University of Arizona football program and its fans the best possible bowl experience, said Northwestern State Director of Bands Dr. Jeffrey C. Mathews. "Our band is excited about doing this. And we'll be dressed in cardinal red and navy blue on Dec. 31. We have been working with the staff at the University of Arizona to learn about their game day performances and what they do to support the Wildcats." Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31. Link: http://arizonasports.com/45/1688458/Arizona-to-rent-marching-band-for-bowl-game
