  1. Blake did learn about coaching from Barry Switzer so grades and honesty are going to be secondary to guns, sex and rock-n-roll. Not that I personally have anything against a little guns, sex and rock-n-roll! Blake started the “Troy is a racist” thing at the height of the Troy and friends against Switzer and friends battle. I vividly remember Nate Newton’s response: just count. There are 11 starters on a team and 3 are white. Troy isn’t going to yell at himself, although he did get mad at himself. Troy yelled went ANYONE makes a mistake. It must have gotten pretty bad in the Cowboy’s locker room. Blake was going to wait till after Superbowl XXX to take over at OU, but suddenly “he was immediately available.” Does he still weigh 300+? He had been pushing 400 when he was first up for the OU job and his weight was one reason OU hired Schnelly. He lost some weight before the next interview.
  2. You discuss everything in exective session, usually a number of different subjects. Then you have a quick vote when you come out. Or not, depending on how the discussions went!
  3. I was listening to Galloway just a few minutes ago and they were sending congratulations to Pat on the new job. And I certainly I not worried that we are not hearing exactly who has and has not been called for out job opening. You would not want that information to be very public. Some will leak, but the less that does the better. For one thing, I’m sure not every candidate is being offered the same financial package. You would not want the candidates to be able to compare notes! Another reason is some candidates I’m sure don’t want their current employers to know they are looking - especially if they don’t get/take the job!
  4. Well, it was not the owner of the dealership, but the manager who was fired. And, the NCAA didn't do him any favors at all - they sat on the investigation and could have given the kid an additional year punishment. Most 1A programs weren't will to waste a scholarship on a kid that could have potentially had 2 years of waiting and burning his 5 potential year before he could play. I think we can find common ground here. Bomar is a slimball who makes bad choices.
  5. You would be absolutely right, except the athletic department of a 1A school has been telling all of these kids since they were recruits if they do this they would hurt the school. Sorry, Bomar has no excuses. He's just slime. This not about a "poor kid" taking a few bucks. First of all, he's not at all a "poor kid." Spoiled kid used to special treatment as the coaches son, yes, I'll grant that. Not poor. Secondly, how can you think having multiple people punch your time card is fine? You can't possibly believe he thought that was fine. I can't believe he could be that completely stupid. No, Bomar is just slime. But, yes, he's probably a better QB than we have right now. We have not resorted to using slime before, and I don't think we need to start. There are equally good QBs available from high schools if we hire the right coachl.
  6. I don't know, but I thought you could only red-shirt your incoming year. I could well be wrong on that!
  7. The negative would prevent him from being a really successful hire! We're better than that here! (Start joke) Surely you thought Kathy Ireland could kick? (End joke)
  8. Either Snead or Bomar would lose a year of eligibility transferring. Bomar is a worthless kid with no ethics. We don't need that here. There is no the possibility of a chance than slimy kid didn't know he was committing fraud when he took the $5000 or so from than dealership in OKC. And you since him family has refused to release the records, you'll never convince me his fairy tail about it being a lot less than that is true! We can do much better than Bomar - certainly as far as ethics. There is a REASON North Texas is better than SMU! We don't want the Bomars of the world.
  9. There is the tiny detail that our womens' soccer team is pretty good. Don't we have women golfer's as well? We might not.
  10. If there are enough guesses, one of them will probably be correct!
  11. You’d rather go to Detroit in December than New Orleans? Actually you’d rather go to Detroit at ANY TIME rather than New Orleans? The idea of a bowl is a reward for a good season - not a punishment!
  12. I think the story on Scout is wrong. I think a bowl has to take a 7-5 team over a 6-6 team, unless there was a PRIMARY conference tie in to the bowl. I think Motor City’s primary ties are the MAC and the Big 10.
  13. There are a lot of good candidates who make great coaches out there. We simply have to look this time and not settle.
  14. Didn’t we just have a coach with health probablems?
  15. Yes, this is the kind of guy I’d love to have at NT. They are out there, but you have to look for them.
  16. Dennis Parker was a high school head coach at Marshal. Bob Tyler was head coach at Miss. State - at least I THINK it was Miss. State. Hayden Fry was head coach at SMU. I think that's it. I'd say we are 1 for 3 in hiring people who were previously head coaches.
  17. And he has experience at SMU. PLus, he'll bring along an OC who was a former SMU QB!
  18. I guess our victory of them did something - it kept them out of a bowl game! And Rice gets to go to a bowl for the first time since 1961. I think we all know how great it feels to finally got that bear off of your back!
  19. We keep saying CUSA is stronger than the Sun Belt. Tulsa won their division in CUSA, then they won their conference Championship. And then they won their bowl. Last year they actually were strong!
  20. Not Woody! We just had a “3 yards and a cloud of dust” offense.
  21. If you read closely, he's got Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas as part of 14 of his 32 accomplishments. Still, I'm willing to grant the program is now better than it was when he got here. Just the increased graduation rate and GPA average is a clear improvement. Thanks and good-bye!
  22. The coaches are fired. No one is going to do more than fire them. Relax. Let it go. Raging against the sunset is futile.
  23. Rick, I saw a lot of the Judson teams back when Parker was their OC. They were never the fastest or biggest either. The other San Antonio schools were always MUCH bigger and faster. And the same was true when he was at Marshal. But, his North Texas teams here were completely undisciplined. High school discipline do not seem equate. But, again, that's not to say TD can't find a way to make it work. His coaching is not what I'm worried about!
  24. I read that I think I'm completely wrong about the convention wisdom on Todd Dodge - that he need's some 1A experience in this century. And l look at MTSU who turned everything around in one year. Of course, then I look at Texas with David McWilliams or NMSU or Idaho now. If only it was easy to predict!
