  1. UNT going straight to a law firm shows they are concerned about liability. Period. This smacks of a hide the responsibility move by the administration, and it's upsetting. This is a criminal matter. The proper thing to do would be to not only say you will fully cooperate with any police investigation, but to actually DO IT. Running out and hiring counsel is an ass covering move. Extremely concerning. There he is. Defending the indefensible. There will be more. This wouldn't have happened if Smatresk had got off his ass sooner and fired RV, or if ANYONE at UNT had seen through the obvious charade that was Tony Benford. If that happened, maybe these girls wouldn't have been pimped out. But you are right, I'm obviously the problem. 🙄
  2. Lol. The "current staff" allowed this environment to continue. Protection mode for AD employees. Some things never change.
  3. If by family, you mean pimping out young females to make money, you are spot on. A sloppy program on the court is a sloppy program off the court. I doubt some on this forum ever learn that lesson. Good thing Baker let Benny mismanage this thing all the way through, isnt it? Can't wait to see the usual suck ups posting how this isn't Baker's fault. It is. He knew the element Benford brought in this last year and allowed it. I wonder if human trafficking charges come out of this mess. For those that don't know how the prostitution game works now-a-days, pimps find girls who have ran away from home, aged out foster care with nowhere to go, or have other circumstances that leave them with zero life options and zero support systems. The pimps pretend to be their boyfriend and promise to support them. It seems legit at first as the pimp puts them up in a hotel room. Pretty shortly after, the pimp asks them to turn their first trick. He manipulates if it works, beats them if it doesn't. The girls turn 20-30 tricks a day and give every last cent to the pimp. The girl gets a hotel room for tricks and food, and that is it. Food is often withheld as a form of punishment. The girls feel helpless and trapped, feeling the only dependable person in their life is their pimp, even if that dependability includes tricks and beatings.. This is the playbook of every ghetto pimp out there. Lets be VERY clear. This isn't college girls making extra money. I don't think anyone on this forum gets (or wants to get) how big this could be. It very well could be the final death blow to UNT basketball. And I expect this post to be pulled the second it is seen by mods. The law firm was hired to protect UNT and it's staff. They aren't investigating shit. That isn't the way this works. Thank you, President Smatresk, for allowing 5 full years of this.
  4. Seems like Cooley is reading my posts as his. 😂 My comparison to Forrest Robinson was pretty dead on, as was ppg averages and the prediction that the last staff could never develop Brice. And just like Forrest, Brice showed a distaste for contact and appeared more than happy to take the outside jumper. The difference is that Forrest was a far better shooter. Another big man that fancied himself a guard. Brice never developed an inside game and relied on a fade away jump hook inside. Terrible for a guy his size. Brice also was lost on the defensive end at this level, picking up quick fouls in many a game. He is 7', so someone in a lesser division will take a flyer on him. And Cooley, Someone who averages a double double is absolutely an impact player in CUSA. peace out, mofos.
  5. Larry Brown was the killer hire. He got SMU over the top. All Jank had to do is maintain it. And if SMU has a deep NCAA run, he can build on it.
  6. Well, too bad. UNT did this, not me. They could have fired Benford after year 1, 2, 3, 4, or during year 5 and kept my basketball fandom. THEY didn't and they lost it forever because of what THEY did. Do they care? No, because they have never cared about the fans of this program and proved it to me personally in spades this basketball season. THEY were perfectly willing to let this program go winless in conference. That was THEIR decision. Mine is to walk the F away. I like college basketball, and TCU is convenient, so tickets just make sense. Plus I get a HUGE upgrade in the level of basketball for $130 more a season. Not too shabby. Look, your a young fan who will at some time reach the point I'm at, that is if you care about winning. A lot of people have walked away throughout the years. People on here want to blame the fan. It isn't the fans' fault. They have been driven away by terrible administrative decisions. You think improvements are right around the corner. I don't have that faith anymore because I've seen about 4 "right around the corners" in my 9 years of re-association with this thing. And just realize that you and most of the others that criticize me on here haven't dumped near the amount of money into this disaster as I have. Doesn't make you less of a fan, but by definition it makes you less invested. Loving something unconditionally that you have no financial commitment to isnt hard. Remember that next time you want to criticize where I spend MY money/
  7. Oh, no doubt. He is the typical sleezy politician. It's all about personal favors and taking care of one another. Quite familiar.
  8. I found it interesting the Royce West credited Jackson with "doing what is best for Dallas and all of North Texas." Notice how Dallas is placed in front of North Texas in that sentence? Great description of Jackson's tenure here. I also noticed that the Chancellor's office is located in Dallas. Nothing says out of touch like an office located a county away from the flagship campus of the system... And he is the grandfather of the NTTA? The government hand that is perpetually reaching in citizens' pockets? Another reason to dislike the man.
  9. The biggest question is who the Governor picks to replace Dallas Lee. Chances it's a UNT grad? Next to nothing?
  10. I bash the new AD for lack of action. There have been zero major moves made since his arrival. He chose not to rock the boat by keeping around a guy that openly and aggressively campaigned for his job. He chose not to rock the boat by letting Benford coach out the season. This is concerning that he will ALWAYS choose not to rock the boat. Because, so far, we have seen nothing else from him. Zero. Zip. Zilch. That deserves criticism. If you don't want to end up with RVII, that is. Remember: It is North Texas...
  11. See, we can agree on things.
  12. To people like that, UNT will never be possible of being anything other than what it was when they were in college. And they are fine with it. When you ask for or demand improvement, they will call you crazy, unreasonable, or worse. It's the greatness of UNT fan culture. RV didn't happen by accident.
  13. You mean like the guys that would be sophomores on our teams now?
  14. I think every college fan knows that standard contract lengths are 4 or 5 years. So they would be left with the impression that Benford got extended a year without a winning season or that he was allowed to coach out his contract without a winning season. And college basketball fans are the ones reading this article. But you are right. It doesn't actually say it in the article. Notice how the article points out he was allowed to coach 5 years without producing a winning season? Then says "It's North Texas?"
  15. You are correct. But they did said he coached 5 years.
  16. A great 30/30 about UNT would be something titled along the lines of "Killing A Program: UNT Basketball's Demise and the Culture Behind It." Of course, it would need to be at least a 2 parter.
  17. Harper would be a average to above average hire. Problem is TCU and SMU killed it with their 2 recent hires...
  18. Consistent 20 win seasons and challenging for conference championships every year. Going to the NCAA or NIT most years. Unless you forgot how it was before Benford and have just excepted the new normal.
  19. Do you read? Or are you just trying to twist a narrative? Or are you trying to say an AD should be purely judged on coaching hires? ?
  20. Ole Benny. Not even above the personal manipulation of campus newspaper writers/students.
  21. Because he is in his mid 50s, just lost his dream job, and would view this as a retirement gig. This fan base. ?????
  22. I think Harper is a decent candidate. That comment was aimed at 23's lofty goal of .500 basketball.
  23. Cross isn't coming here. Don't think the Arkansas St guy will, either. It would be a lateral move to a far worse program. Harper, on the other hand, makes sense.
