  1. There is a full page add in the DRC titled MEAN GREEN? explaining his views of the situation.
  2. Yes, Dickey belongs in the North Texas Hall Of Fame. His 2001 trough 2004 seasons clearly earned him that honor.
  3. I have said this before... I would like to see Hayden Fry return as head coach for ONE YEAR with Todd Dodge as his Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach, with Dodge contracted to take control in 2008. The hiring would give North Texas tons of positive publicity. Fry is a master at putting together excellent coaching staffs and could work with Dodge building the best available. Todd Dodge could tranition into the Division 1 head coaching position, and would still have some time to follow his son's senior season at Southlake. So the choice is simple; we could either choose Obi Fry Kenobi and Todd Skywalker, or we could submit ourselves to another Attack of the Crones.
  4. The NBC affiliate in Austin had the best view from the back of the endzone and was the defining Zapruder film for this incident. Cash dove after a ball that was sailing out of the endzone, had both hands on it as his knees and feet left the endzone, and had the ball aimlessly rolling out in front of him when he got to the ground. You can see Cash looking frustrated by the missed opportunity directly before the official signals touchdown. Cash later admitted that he didn't think it was a touchdown, but he certainly wasn't going to argue with the referee. It was one of two very questionable touchdown receptions by UT that evening. Oh well, mistakes happen. They just look really fishy when those mistakes happen during possibly the only game in history that UT wasn't penalized a single time during play. (UT had received a dead-ball unsportsmanlike conduct penalty)
  5. Former TCU athletes Virgil Allen Taylor, Shannon Behling and Lorenzo Jones were charged last week with sexual assault. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Taylor is accused of luring an 18-year-old student to his dorm room Oct. 13 under the guise of repaying money she had loaned him to buy a hamburger. There, the woman told police, she was given a sports drink that caused her to pass out. The woman told police that she awoke briefly to find Taylor having sex with her. Taylor, a 19-year-old former TCU basketball player, told police that the girl was unconscious during sex and implicated Behling as well, the affidavit states. He also told police that he saw Jones, 20, a former football player, having sexual intercourse with the woman. Taylor and Behling are free after posting $25,000 bail each and have returned to South Carolina. Jones remained in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday morning
  6. Here is alittle inside info on Carson Coffman from www.wildcatdaily.com this August after 3 scholarship quarterback had left the team during the off-season ____________________________________________________________________ Also at practice, although not in uniform, was freshman Carson Coffman, who was officially added to the Wildcats' roster this week after Evridge's departure. Coffman is still rehabbing a shoulder injury and may not have full shoulder strength until mid-October, but could provide some depth at quarterback for the Wildcats late in the season. "Carson Coffman is a player we recruited in the last recruiting class, anticipating that something like this may happen," said Prince. "He's a terrific player with a good resume, so we're anxious to get him in here and working." Coffman, a freshman from Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.) High School, originally came to Kansas State as a gray shirt, which means he was paying his own way in the fall semester, but was expected to be put on scholarship in the spring. However, after Evridge's transfer, Coffman got the call from Director of Football Operations Sean Snyder on Friday morning, informing Coffman that he was being put on scholarship. Coffman shined at Ray-Pec during his final two years, throwing 42 touchdowns to only eight interceptions while leading his teams to back-to-back state championships. "The thing I liked about (Carson) is that he was a very accurate quarterback," said Prince, who mentioned another accurate quarterback he once coached at Virginia — Matt Schaub, who now plays for the Atlanta Falcons. "I'm not ready to put Carson in (the NFL Hall of Fame) just yet, but he was that kind of player on tape and that really excited me."
  7. Rick was hired at North Texas in April and the basketball coach had just been released by the University President (Pohl) and several players had left. Since, as SUE pointed out, the position must be open for a month before it's filled, Rick had to work fast to get a basketball coach in place before the summer signing period. Rick picked Johnny Jones whom he had seen be successful leading the team at Memphis and successful as an assistant at Alabama and LSU. Jones may not have been the best hire in the world, but he has been pretty good. He quickly resurected a depleted, horrendously bad team to being average. I'm not content with 'average', but it's a hell of a lot better than where we were with Trilli. Believe it or not, this will be Johnny's first season playing only his own recruits on the court, and several of the newer players were quite highly recruited. This season will be the year to determine if a Johnny Jones team can be better than just average.
  8. Is there any news on men's recruits for this signing period? I haven't heard any names even mentioned. With 3 seniors (Young, Watson, Davis), shouldn't we have 3 scholarships to offer for next year?
  9. Who needs a search committee when you have gomeangreen.com?
  10. I would love to see Nelson Barnes hired as our defensive coordinator. The man coaches with an enthusiasm and intensity that hasn't been seen in Denton for many seasons. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe his players always respected him and excelled under his guidance. North Texas alumnus Nelson Barnes
  11. Like Tim MacMahon, I am ready for some Dodge Ball in Denton.
  12. Everyone starts with the initial 15 clickable smileys. After you have achieved gmg-select status you'll get the other 35.
  13. I too feel that there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.............unfortunately it's an oncoming locomotive.
  14. Sad signing day Monroe News-Star story National Signing Day is going to be bittersweet for the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team. Normally, it's a time of excitement for teams as they add signees. The mood will be more tempered for the Bulldogs after learning Willie Baker Jr. - the nephew of Tech assistant coach Charles Baker - was killed in a one-car auto accident over the weekend in Little Rock, Ark. Baker Jr. was supposed to sign with the Bulldogs on Wednesday. "He was taking some friends home and he dropped the alst one off and aid he was tired and needed to get some sleep,'' Baker said. "He never made it.'' According to the Arkansas State Police report, Baker Jr. killed early Saturday when his sport utility vehicle ran off Interstate 430 in Little Rock. Baker Jr., 17, was driving north on the interstate at 2:29 a. m. Saturday when his GMC Envoy left the road and traveled in the air about 150 feet, according to a state police report. The car landed on Colonel Glenn Road, where it struck the overpass and caught fire, the report states. Baker Jr., was a combo guard from Mills University Studies High School in Little Rock and would have been part of Tech's signing day class. Tech senior guard Marcus Elliott said the team was stunned because they all got to know Baker Jr., during the recruiting process. "Everybody talked to him,'' Elliott said. "We've got to let (Coach Baker) grieve and mourn.'' posted by The News-Star at 11:22 PM
  15. Date Posted: Mon, November 06 2006, 18:43:13 Author: SUE Subject: The reason you FIRE DICKEY NOW....... Remember that stupid @$$ state rule that jobs like that have to be posted a month before being filled? So, if you wait until late November to can this incompetent boob....you're looking at late December before filling the position. Fire him now. Get started looking for replacements, ASAP. ******************************************************************** This is certainly relevant if a change is being considered. A new coach would require time to assemble a staff during the busiest recruiting period.
  16. Thank you 'Green Team'. Your drives in the second quarter produced 17 points and ate enough clock to probably have kept La Tech from scoring at least one more first half touchdown. Other than your unexpected heroics, the game script was almost identical to last year.
  17. North Texas certainly isn't in any position to be pointing fingers. Here's some figures from last season's game in Ruston. Both teams entered the game with records of 2 and 3. Louisiana Tech drove 58 yards on their first possession and turned the ball over on downs when they came up short on a 4th-down play at the North Texas 36 yard line. Other than that initial drive, Louisiana Tech scored EVERY SINGLE TIME they had possession in the first half; three touchdowns and two field goals. The North Texas possessions in the first half went for 8, 17, 12, 8, 17, and 5 yards. Yes, that was only 3 first downs and 6 punts: pure futility. Halftime score was 27-0. The game was already functionally over. In the second half Tech substituted so liberally that they were playing reserves that had duplicated jersey numbers. North Texas earned 12 of the game total 15 first downs in that second half and lost 40 to 14. The North Texas Athletics site proclaimed "Despite a second half rally, the North Texas football team fell short against Louisiana Tech" to sugarcoat the ass-kicking. Have things changed so radically for either team that we should expect different results? I hope so, but I haven't noticed noticed where the changes have occurred.
  18. This week should be an interesting case study. It's a chance to watch a Ramon Flanigan offense compete against what is statistically the worst defense in the nation. Let's see what happens.

  20. It's in the western sky? Our podcast crew of Harry, Rob, and Evan should be westward leading, still proceding to see if it leads them to Southlake.
  21. Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Dickey and his family at this time. Get well Coach.
  22. The team heads for the Athletic Center after the games. Having a car at Fouts probably allows the coaches to get back to their offices and get cleaned up before the team busses arrive. The Athletic Center is where all the team´s post-game activities happen. I think this is a non-issue.
