Unless we find some people that can catch, I wouldn't be so bold to predict a blowout. You do have to score to blow someone out. I'd love to see Powers become the second coming of Andy Blount, but until Chancellor gets some help with catching the ball, it could be a long year for our offense.

When I saw the line on that game, I knew it was going to be bad... On Friday, the line was 75. I've never seen one that lopsided...

Yes, it was a beating on Thursday. Yes, it looks like we have a long year ahead of us. Yes, we will probably get the shaft in yes another round of conference shakeups. Sure, it would have been nice to get it all with a new stadium, coaching staff, wins, conference, etc... but there is plenty to be happy about as an NT fan right now. Most of my excitement of next weekend is that we will FINALLY not be in watching football in a stadium that was more embarrassing than if family showed up to your house unannounced only thirty minutes after the sewage system filled it up six foot deep! The grass is always greener... I'm just glad that the facilities are now vastly improved, bigger donations coming in, that it seems we have a renewed commitment to athletics, and I'm excited about the future. The coaching staff now looks to suit an actual D1 program and I am sure that they will do their job... It just takes time to identify game-day weaknesses (they actually are different than practices, you know), try to coach the players, make some judgement calls based on how effective the coaching decisions were... the whole gambit. Give them time, because I will. Do I want a win against Houston? Of coarse I do. But if it doesn't happen, I'll judge the staff on what they do about handling it during and after... By the way -- did anyone buy a copy of the EA Sports NCAAF game this year? Is our stadium in it? Did they *finally* include the NT fight song? Did they include the blood curdling Eagle CAAAAAAWW! sound and cannon fire when we score? These are all important questions.

New proposal: Keep TD as an offensive coordinator.

I've been out of touch recently and I would love to hear what our current 2-deep looks like. If anyone can post it, that'd really help watching the game tonight.

Thanks, Lady... I like the ring with the emerald in it more, but I don't want to have to keep sending it out for repairs. I'll probably give the emerald ring one more try, but if it breaks again... I'll do the swap. Maybe with Dodge at the helm I'll be able to refrain from punching things...

I think there are two? styles of the class ring. I got the one that has the emerald on top, but I have a problem with it getting cracked/broken all the time. The emerald sits on the top and is exposed to getting hit on things. Especially when DD was coaching! Does anyone else have that problem? Does anyone know if I could get the other style without the emerald? Thoughts?

I can tell you what I DO know about Etheridge -- he is BAD. Really, REALLY BAD. He came from ARMY -- the losingest team at the time. Since he has been at NT, I've seen the national rushing leaders struggle to put up minimal production. AXE HIM. He is #1 on my hit list.

I heard the news on the way home from work with TIgreen01... our mouths dropped! We already went out and bought the celebration cigars and booze! I'm sad to see him go, but I know its time. He brought us conference championships and for that I thank him. I wish him the best -- but I heard the best quote ever before getting out of the truck --- after talking about how bad Dickey's year has gone by way of his health, I heard the quote after the announcement of the firing --- "...maybe thats why they are called the MEAN GREEN!"

I guess thats what is to be expected after last years rollover by our defense. Its time to make them pay for the lack of respect! Beat `em in the end half. I didn't see the offsides either that kept their drive going before half was over after they failed the 4th conv. I'm watching it and it looked like a bad call.

FFR, I read this board often, but probably don't post as often as I should. I realize that alot of people listen to your blather on this board and appear to respect it simply because you wear a pretty green firefighter hat. I'm tired of reading your posts that insinuate that you are a mean green fan. Lets face it, we were outclassed. They ARE the defending national champions and they played like it. They have a great defence (IMO, mostly thier DEs and LBs), but go back and watch this game. Don't blame the coaching for the gameplan or the 'non-imaginative' offense. I liked the playcalls -- the execution simply stunk. Stop blaming Dickey and the coaching staff. All in all I would say your post may have been the most anti-North Texas post I have seen in a while. I made the trip to the last NT-Texas game, but chose to watch this one on TV. I challenge you to go back and watch the game again -- the playcalling was NOT the problem. Sure its easy to throw the coaches under the (broken-down) bus, but take a realistic look at that game. The coaching was not the biggest problem -- it was the players performance. And all these people I see complaining offensively about our O-line (C,OG,OT) can go watch the game again as well. Their DEs and thier mobile outside LBs were what killed us offensively, not the interior lineman (or playcalling). Going into this game, I thought Phillips was the guy (I went to both spring and fall scrimages). I now know better. I'd say coming out of this game, we should be playing Wilson as QB, because of his mobility and overall athleticism at the position. We should see more of Henderson as FB and more I. Thomas on the Dline. Our TE play (mostly blocking) needs to be improved. Thats my .02 cents.
