  1. However, these are the same 10 coaches that picked FIU to win the conference, so what the hell.
  2. We are 7&5 against MTSU,lost 5 of last 10 games. I can't remember if we beat ULL last year, but we were 4&6 thru 2010,lost 5 of last 6 games. So I guess the answer is that we have never been better than Troy, have basically won every other year against MTSU,and ULM passed us about 5 or 6 years ago. And yes, I am one of 2 posters that don't think at this point we have much talent, along with the 10 Belt coaches that picked up to finish 8th in conference.
  3. Monkeypox, after watching MTSU beat WKU last night on the road I doubt that you and I were right in thinking we could play on the same level as Blue Raiders at their place. Also, as pointed out by another post, shows the gap between our talent and that of the top 4 teams in the Belt. Just takes time and solid recruiting.
  4. I stand corrected. As per the 2012 Preseason Sun Belt Coaches Conference Poll dated 7/18/12 :1]FIU 2]A-State 3]ULL 4]WKU 5]Troy 6]ULM 7]MTSU 8]UNT 9]FAU 10]USA. Looks like FIU really tanked,ULM took their top spot, and MTSU is playing well, beating Georgia Tech by 2 or 3 t.d.'s on the road.
  5. I am talking about the season as a whole, not one game in particular. We got out butt kicked by both Houston and MTSU. It happens. My biggest disapointment to date was the Troy game, one that we should have won but managed to loose.ULL was a very good win, MTSU a disapointing loss, especially after we pounded them last yeat at home. Also, if memory serves, the coaching poll favorites were ULM,W.K.,ULL, and A-State. However I am an old man with selective memory and limited computer skills who can't spell who doesn't remember the exact order. I'm sure someone much wiser than I can provide the exact pre-season pecking order. Finally,I have been supporting the Eagles since my freshman year of 61', have seen more missed opportunities to build the program than I can count, and never knew there were so many shades of green or shapes of eagles. In short, I feel your pain and frustration, and am glad that so many alumni are not just expecting, but demanding first class athletic programs to compliment our first class university. All I am trying to say is that it takes time to build a football program, and no one wants to win more than our coaching staff, our players, and me. Keep posting, and "Go Eagles".[sorry,I am old school, and have never taken to "mean green"]
  6. Monkeypox, that not what I meant and you know it. I would expect a 6&6 or 7&5 record next year, depending upon which teams we play in Eastern Dividion of CUSA. Unless schedule changes,we have Idaho and Ball U. home, and Ohio away. Both MAC teams are good, but as of now the only money game scheduled is at Georgia. You eat an elephant a bite at a time. It's just hard to win without much talent, which I feel Mac will be able to recruite.
  7. Goals must be reasonable and obtainable with a little pie in the sky. Anyone who projected more that 4 to 5 wins had unreasonable expecations based upon the pre-season Sun Belt coaches poll ,which picked us 7th, ahead of only FIU,FAU, and USA. Some of us need to get real.
  8. I think that Rick made a grave mistake in allowing Todd to bring his high school staff with him. However, when he was first hired ,I heard very few naysayers, and his first spring game had the largest attendance we have ever had. I also think he was allowed to stay around too long because we just could not afford to buy him our. With few exceptions, most UNT football supporters are " all hat and no cattle." At some point we must draw the line in the sand, quit looking in the rear view mirror, and move forward .Tulsa is the "best in the west" in CUSA. How many of our present team could start for them? Lets keep that in mind when making comparisons and referring to all this talent we suppposedly now have. In my opinion, the Golden Hurricanes should be the benchmark of our program, and how we judge our players and coaching staff in the future.
  9. Let me try again. With the exception of Chancellor, I see no playmakers on our team, and certainly don't see the amount of talent some of you keep refering to. We are not a very good team, and probably won't be for another year or two.Should be much better in Mac's 4th and 5th year. Just an opinion.
  10. I think when Sun Belt "All Conference" players are announced at years end you will see what little talent we actually have.
  11. My 36 year career was in medical sales and distribution. In sales, your cup must be half full instead of half empty. I have been posting for several years, and have never seen as much negativity in all my life. Constructive criticism is acceptable and if fact should be encouraged. However, too many of us "would bitch if hung with a new rope." Just an old man's opinion, class of 66'.
  12. No way we beat Ball St., Rice, Marshall or UTEP. In fact, I doubt we cover the spread. I just think we need to realize that we are in the botton 1/3rd of Belt, and will be in the bottom 1/3rd of CUSA for the !st few years. We are not a good football team now, but i have faith in Mac that we will be in the future.Just saying...
  13. Rice would kick our butts The only wins I would give us are FIU,UAB,SMISS,Tulane,UTSA,and maybe UTEP.If we are lucky La Tech is shipped East for a few years until ODU and UNCC get up to speed For the 1st few years in CUSA expect more of the same
  14. In Darrel's defense, he thought based upon his 4 conference championships he deserved another year, as opposed to Dodge, who had to be susprised when he got one.
  15. We are a middle of the pack Sunbelt team at best. We are a little above FAU,FIU,and USA,and on par with ULL and Troy. We certainly are not as good as MTSU,W.K.,La.Monroe, and probably A.State. It would appear we will be 3&5 in conference, which would put us where we were picked preseason,7th.W.K. and La. Monroe did not build their programs over night, and neither will we.The new coach at A-State inherited a good team from Freeze, who went on to Old Miss. Compare that to what Dodge left Mac. Our new stadium did not give us a recruiting advantage, but did level the playing field. We need to look past our last 2 years in the Belt, and first 2 years in CUSA,which probably won't be much better. This is a 5 year project. While we might not like it, we need to accept it,support the program, and if success comes sooner so much the better.Just an old man's opinion, class of 66'.
  16. I would not expect us to be down "for many more years", but at least another two. The only teams in the "New "2013 CUSA we could beat this year are FIU,So.Miss,UAB,UTSA,and maybe UTEP.Its going to take 4to5 years to clean up the mess Mac was handed.
  17. When the smokes clears in the next 2 years, I think Mac's offense might remind us of D.D.
  18. I think playing La. Tech in Shreveport every year could be a winner. Its a short drive, gambling, entertainment, etc.
  19. Attendance announced as 19,900. Five turnovers is a killer.
  20. Marshall does a lot of recruiting in Florida, and really pushed for FIU. Question:does LA.Tech's average attendance include A&M game in Shreveport? If so, they are not drawing very well in Ruston.
  21. SMU and service acadmedies sell tickets. Ball U. and Ohio don't.
  22. I have never heard of 9 turnovers in high school, let alone a college team.
  23. There was no box score in paper today, but I thought 1310 said UH had 9 turnovers. Can that be right?
  24. Its really hard to win on the road. I don't like our chances at W.K. or ULL, but MTSU lost their stud running back. USA is a win, but A-State could be either a loss like Troy or win like ULL. I put us at 5&7,6&6 if we get some breaks, which may not be good enough for a bowl. W.K. was 7&5 last year and stayed home, probably because they lost to a 1aa school. We just need to take care of business.
