I love the fact that 4 of the first 5 games are effectively home games for us. Has that ever happened before?

Of the 7 pieces of Mean Green gear I have in my office at work, the autographed, throwback Joe Greene jersey is my favorite. Although, the game used helmet from the 2014 HoD Bowl and the autographed, game used Dunbar jersey are close seconds.

I went yesterday and was easily able to get a Dunbar autograph and a Cal Ripken photo op. I got there at about 12:15 though. I went to UNT surplus on Tuesday and they had one number 5 jersey left so I got Lance to sign that. Fun event overall, but if you are not a hardcore Ticket P1 or a big autograph person it is probably not for you. I am very happy with the autographed jersey myself.

Does anyone know where to buy a Joe Greene throwback jersey? I found the ones in the links below, but I don't want to wear a moomoo to the football games, so I was hoping someone had another source. My other questions is, why doesn't the athletic department sell a throwback jersey of the greatest player in school history and one of the greatest players in the history of the sport? Picked up a #11 helmet today. Really awesome looking. I highly recommend buying one if you can afford it. The guy at the ticket office told me that the "premium numbers", i.e. 3, 7, 35, 93, etc., were all gone. I asked him and he said to contact Eric Capper about the throwback helmets. He said the throwback helmets were in storage and Eric had a list of the numbers that were left and could tell me how much they cost. I called him and left him a message this afternoon. Here is the collage. Specs for those that want one: used satin black frame with a double mat of Lawn green (C9896) and Ivory black (B8517). My wife designed the lower right image and I used the pic at the beginning of the thread. They floated the ticket on the lower mat so it wouldn't cut off any of the info.

I thought this was a great idea and ordered one from Michael's today. It was $98. I will post a picture of it when it comes in. Should get it by the 31st.

By that logic, the Lakers should not have fired Mike Brown, Andy Reid should keep his job, and Bobby V should not have been fired. Obviously those teams are just not as talented as people thought. Right? Nothing to do with coaching. Right? Sorry, but that just doesn't make sense. Coaches ruin very talented teams in almost every sport, every season. And now we are seeing it with this team. Awful.

That was me and a buddy of mine. We are in those seats every game and are more than willing to take it to the refs if need be. I feel like if more people would stop sitting on their hands and actually cheer/heckle/boo/make any kind of noise, we might actually have a home court advantage. I hate paying for season tickets and seeing tons of horrible calls in our gym. We can do something about that, but it will require more people to actually care. Perhaps that is a discussion for another thread. Of course, it could just be the hip-hop in me talking.

I just saw the latest EA Sports commercial that starts with regular people playing with Oscar De La Hoya, Steve Nash, and the Florida Gators. The commercial then shows multiple clips from NCAA 10 starting with Texas/OU. The next clip is number 22 from WKU getting tackled by number 13 from UNT at a packed Fouts Field. There are then clips featuring Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, OK State, and Baylor. Pretty cool to see UNT in an HD video game commercial!

I think I can provide a little insight on this topic. I have lived in Denton since I was 5, graduated from DHS, and then went on to UNT. I am now a teacher with Denton ISD and live in Denton still. I can tell you that most of the students that I have, not just the athletes, look down on UNT. I don't really know why that is, but most of them have the mindset that UNT is not a good school and they want to get out of Denton as quickly as possible after high school. I know that when I was at DHS, most of the other students felt the same way, so this is not a new problem. I think it is just a situation where familiarity breeds contempt. There are a lot of good athletes coming out of the Denton schools now and I wish UNT had a better shot at getting them. I hope that once we get the new stadium built and put a consistently winning program on the field, this attitude will begin to change. I'm sure the coaching staff went after some Denton kids, but they just were not able to compete with this mindset. Hopefully that will change soon.

I was wondering what it takes to get an invite to a better conference in NCAA09? I am currently in my third season of my dynasty. I am ranked 7 with NT and finished #2 in my first season and won the national title last season. Fitz won the Heisman my first season and the receiver I recruited to replace him won it last year. I have had 4 or 5 All-Americans after both of the first two seasons and I have never lost a game in 2+ seasons. I have NT up to a 4-star program. What did you guys do before you got an invite to a better conference? Should I expect one after I win the NC again this season? I don't know what else I can do. Let me know, because I would like to get into the Big XII and don't know what to do to get there. Thanks!! BTW, I don't play this game for realism. I see enough realism at Fouts on Saturdays. I play it for fun.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could download the alma mater, eagle cry, or the green brigade songs that they play at the football games? I found a decent version of the fight song, but if anyone knows of a high quality one I would be interested in that too. I am trying to make the home games in NCAA 09 sound like our actual home games. If anyone has any of the songs or sounds from the football games, please let me know. Thanks!!

At the Albertson's on University in Denton, they have North Texas wool caps and Wilson junior footballs. At the Brookshires in Denton, they have the footballs. Both are $9.99. The footballs look like this, only NT instead of LSU. The cap looks like this, only dark green and the eagle and words are dark green. I bought one of the caps and think the one at Albertson's looks better than the one at Voertmen's. Just letting everyone know since Christmas is coming up. Also, the more we buy, the more retailers will start carrying NT gear.

…soon to be former SMU coach Phil Bennett. Someone suggested this in another thread and like most of you probably did, I just dismissed it. That was before I did a little research. Most of the people on the board are screaming for a DC with some DI-A college experience. Bennett was a DC at the DI-A level from 1983-2001 at multiple Big XII, Big Ten, and SEC schools. From 1999-2001 he was the DC at Kansas St. During those years their total defense ranked 2, 4, and 3 nationally and their scoring defense ranked 4, 17, and 7 nationally. Also, he was the DC at A&M from 1995-96. I could not find any stats on those defenses, but I remember the mid-90’s A&M teams having very good defenses and sending multiple players to the NFL. Also, during his time as a DC he coached the likes of Dat Nguyen, Mark Simoneau and Terence Newman. All of this is in addition to the 6 years of head coaching experience at SMU. If that is not DI-A coaching experience, I don’t know what is. Another plus about Bennett is that he would bring any recruitment contacts he made at SMU with him. He would no doubt be able to help us recruit kids for both sides of the ball. Also, since he already lives in Dallas, he would have to uproot his family and move. This is one of the reasons we were able to get Dodge to come coach here, because he didn’t have to move. All of this is assuming two big things, however. One, that we fire Mendoza. Two, that Bennett would take the pay cut to come coach here. I think the second one is a bigger concern than the first. He made almost $500,000 dollars at SMU this year and would not make nearly as much at UNT. The question is, does a big time program want him as a DC or has SMU ruined his reputation. If it has, then we might be able to get him. If it hasn’t, then we are probably out of luck. He seems to fit everyone’s requirements and I don’t think we could do much better. What do you guys think? Would you want Bennett as our DC? Do you think we could actually get him?
