  1. The answer is 4. 4 replies before someone could tie a 2010 Defensive Tackle recruit back to Hayden Fry. This could be fun, I think I will start to track this.
  2. Correct, that was out dated info that was posted above.
  3. Because of the age distribution of the quarterbacks, don't we still need to take a high school quarterback as well (to redshirt and develop)?
  4. A very talented warrior-athlete. Will not roll over because they recruited at his position. Will make for a nice spring position battle (with Thompson as well).
  5. So he's not just a verbal, but a signed LOI? (since he's a Dec grad)
  6. I was excited when we hired that upstart offensive coordinator, and I was excited when we brought dodge in. Now I have higher standards, I will be exited when we win games..nothing less.
  7. It depends on where we want to be. If we want to be where Baylor (as an example) is now, then we shouldn't be going a walk on QB pans out. The bar should be higher for recruiting talent, and the bar should be higher for developing that talent.
  8. Beware of math in public, that would be a ~64% decrease...same point though
  9. I tink the loss by graduation of Victor Gill has been understated. He protected the blindside for what seemed like ten years. In the games I could watch this year, edge passers were bearing the right tackle, badly. So I am going to go with needing a left tackle through attrition, and a right tackle due to non-performance.
  10. Rangers aside, it was a bad week for UNT football (IMO). We had to fire another coach because we can't get past the 2-win mark. A good week in late October should be another sunbelt win; and some three star commitments. Not trying to figure out where out next stop on the coaching carousel leaves us. I am not saying that TD should have been kept; just tired of losing. Out of curiosity; how many football coaching hires does a AD get to make? TD was a a RV hire. Is this hire a must-have for RV's tenure here?
  11. It just donned on me that McCoy may not need a scholarship; because of the GI Bill.
  12. Sorry if this is old news, but the Rivals page shows that we now have 5 verbals; with Robinson being an addition today.
  13. So there is a person on staff who can be used as a personnel reference for someone interested in coaching here. Sounds like a perfect opportunity for RV to get a 2nd perspective on a candidate.
  14. Yeah! What about this guy, his current school's website had this to say: The offensive-minded coach has served as an offensive coordinator at Memphis (1988-89), UTEP (1994-96), and SMU (1997). He has also coached at Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and LSU. Should be more offesnive firepower than we could ever imagine. Just because a coach shows a tendency as a coach doesn't necessarily translate to how they will approach a head coaching job. As an OC, they don't have to worry about how long the defense has been on the field (for example). That is the difference between those coordinators who will always retain their coordinator mentality; and those coordinators that can transition to the responsibility of managing all three phases of the game.
  15. I find the Bower talk amusing, in that four years ago we all ' knew' that RV was going to male the safe hire by bringing in Tyrone Nix (a prior USM DC). We were all lamenting that we were overlooking Jumbo Fisher for a lower level assistant. And then RV swung for the fences by bringing in TD (high risk, high reward). (a hire that Bill Parcells had tried to make for the Cowboys high ends coach). So I will not be surmised if the next coach is not Bower, or even on this thread.
  16. Correction: You can't lay this at the feet of the recruiters. Talented kids still have to be coached to exploit all of their potential. That would be coaching the players both mentally and physically.
  17. Another recruit that can be chalked up to Canales. I think we are very fortunate to have him.
  18. The only way to figure this out for sure would be to put them both in the Octagon...a good cage match always solves things.
  19. Awhile back they said it was soil conditioning. They turn the dirt over, and wet it down...to prevent soil/foundation erosion later.
  20. Pretty cool for some publicity for Lance: Link
  21. If I remember right, that means that the school (athletic dept or somewhere else) kicked in some cash to balance out that cash flow. So it was a negative cashflow until the basketball program received those dollars.
  22. I wonder if the double reference to folks not being on a spring roster and then showing up in the fall is a reference to Cole?
  23. "dead or alive, you're coming with me" is UNT alum...
