  1. Barnes said USU was the first of three Western Athletic Conference schools — Fresno State and Nevada were the others — to receive formal invitations from the MWC earlier this week. But Utah State turned down the invitation, based upon a buyout agreement that the eight WAC schools forged last Friday

You know USU officials are hacked about this! That was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I cannot wrap my mind around why the MWC would want USU and not a myriad of other teams. USU would probably be one of the last schools I would think the MWC would approach to join their conference (over the likes of Houston/UTEP, or even Idaho/NMSU).

Is the Utah TV market that big of a deal?

  2. Can we have a Georgia State and UTSA W-L blog. Both have good non-high school coaches who will when more games in two years with new programs, than UNT has won in 4 years.

    when more games?

    About two weeks from today...

I love how this one simmered all afternoon, as if in a crockpot, until just the right time.

Congratulations to the 3 of you on this spectacular display of comedy. It was truly beautiful.

  3. A 3-4 look on Defense? Do we have big enough guys for a 3 man front? I think if I were any coach lining up against UNT's 3 man front, I audible to a run up the middle. We don't have the size for that. Although AK in that hybrid DE-OLB role would be a perfect fit for him. I doubt we'll see this look much, if at all during games.

  4. I think you may only be telling half the story though...this just in from Chip Brown:

Coker was unhappy with his demotion to assistant special teams coach...you know, considering he has more NFL players than any other coach...so he challenged Mack Brown to a knife fight, but came out on the losing end after Brown made a brave, 2005 Vince Young-esque flurry of swipes at Coker's right side...which was slowed, mid-fight, by a stroke.

    Coker is in critical condition.

    Just read on Bleacher Report:

Coker asked for a release from his coaching duties so that he could join the live music scene as a dulcimer extraordinaire. When Brown would not grant the release, Coker grabbed a replica samurai sword, swung it vigorously and wildly towards Brown, finally lacerating his own right side. Brown remained seated the whole time although conflicting reports say Deloss Dodds was seen fleeing the scene with what appeared to be a blowdart gun, or a sex toy.

  5. Admittedly the MWC would be a better situation but I'd want to see a guarantee that TCU stays (saving an invite from the Big 12-2).

With Utah and Brigham Young gone I'm thinking that the Mountain West has lost a lot of its allure for TCU. With less than stellar marquis names, and the distance involved, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Frogs receptive to CUSA once again.

Didn't Boise State just join the MWC? Football-wise, adding them makes up for the loss of Utah and (possibly) BYU combined.

  6. Nope.

Here are some other good questions that everyone has opinions on. Would you please divulge your answers?

Why did the chicken cross the road?

    What the heck?

You've got to ask yourself a question, "Do I feel lucky?". Well do you; Punk?

Why isn't UNT in the Big 12?

By the way, scientific studies have shown that 89% of Americans enjoy NCAA football over the NFL. Fact.

  7. The "if we were in Conference USA, we'd get killed" argument is idiotic. Could I buy that there is more talent across the board in CUSA? Probably. But...take Coach Jones & company, put North Texas in a Conference USA schedule with their resources at his disposal & the results would be similar to now in short order.

Still looking for a big bag of money to give Coach Jones. I'll keep ya'll updated on that situation.

    There's always this tactic:

    Unsuccessful Bank Robbery

  8. Hey, What are you guys' favorite memories of UNT athletics from the last 10 years?

I'll start: The game at Tech in 1997 was awesome!

Also, when the golf team won the National Championships in 1949 - 1952... incredible!

  9. Wow! I kinda used to think the anymosity was one-sided. There is some major douchery going on in that thread.

Even though there are 1 million + reasons why; I can't believe little ol' North Texas could be the envy of any smu fan. :D

The dude who said that UNT would be a sub .500 team in CUSA was my favorite.

Enjoy coach Doh and your sub .500 team smu fans!

at least there are a few people who understand basketball on there...
