  1. First team: Jaylen Smith, Sophomore, University of North Texas (Hamilton, Ont.) With dynamic special teamers like Jonathan Sutherland and Nolan Ulm already on the first team in positional roles, our kick coverage spot will go to Mean Green linebacker Jaylen Smith for a second straight season. The six-foot, 210-pound teams demon made five tackles on specials this year, while also seeing an increased role on defence. He finished the season with 15 total tackles and two tackles for loss in 14 games. read more: https://3downnation.com/2022/12/30/abbotts-2022-ncaa-all-canadians-defence/
  2. Jalen Guyton is a wide receiver for the Los Angles Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys signed him as a undrafted free agent after the 2019 NFL draft. Guyton has given modest performance over the years but will he rise through the ranks to become one of the wide receivers in the league? Here is everything you know about his contract details, net worth, personal life, and career. Net worth and Sponsorships The 25-year-old’s net worth is estimated at around 2 million dollars. Being at the growing point of his career he has a long way to and if he dominates the field and catches the media’s eye with his impressive show on the field, he will land high-paying sponsors which will contribute to skyrocketing his net worth and fame. His current numbers will increase by the end of his current contract. Career from early days to the league Originally from Texas attended Allen High School where his football career ignited. He was productive and efficient on the field making him one of the top-performing players in his class. Not much is known about his time in High school so it can be said that he was a star player with stellar statistics and received offers from top-tier schools in the country. Being a three-star prospect out of high school He committed to playing college football at Notre Dam University initially. Entering through the doors as a freshman at Notre Dame University he was kicked out of the program and later spent a year at Trinity Valley community college after which he transferred to the University of North Texas and became part of the North Texas Greens football program he wanted to dominate the field so he spent as much time as he could on the field and was hell-bent on improving his play. His statistics during his freshman, sophomore, or junior season is not known but he did really level up his standards in his senior season. read more: https://www.mediareferee.com/jalen-guyton-net-worth-girlfriend-cars-salary-contract/
  3. When do we find out who we play or do we play every team every season? I am interested in the Navy and Temple games. Also wondering if we get to play SMU at the Hilltop or back at home.
  4. New North Texas Mean Green head coach Eric Morris announced a handful of hires to his coaching staff in Denton on Wednesday, including the addition of Texas LonghornsDirector of High School Relations Chris Gilbert, who will serve as the associate head coach/tight ends coach. It’s the first on-field coaching role for Gilbert, who spent nearly two seasons on the Forty Acres serving as a key conduit to high school coaches in the Metroplex in addition to building relationships with recruits, especially during on-campus visits. A graduate of South Oak Cliff in South Dallas, Gilbert had a long and successful history as a head coach in the Metroplex. After playing college football at Angelo State, Gilbert had stops as an assistant at Dallas Carter, Greenville, and Bryan before taking over at his alma mater in 2006. Gilbert was able to quickly turn around the South Oak Cliff program, going 9-3 in his third season. read more: https://www.burntorangenation.com/platform/amp/2022/12/28/23529869/chris-gilbert-hire-north-texas-mean-green-texas-longhorns-recruiting
  5. Jelly is pretty special. How many more years of eligibility does he have?
  6. I am loving Coach Morris’ new staff, but have a concern that they are all very young. Doesn’t he need to hire an older but wiser coach that could help him with experience?
  7. Yes this! Would love to have us with a director of relations. That would help our recruiting a lot.
  8. No offense man but do you not understand that teams said the same thing about Houston and UCF and Cincy when they joined the American which was on the heels of the Big East walking away from football? They said all the good teams were leaving your league and so you suck etc... The truth is, Tulane is a top notch program in the top 20 and will likely stay there with Fritz at the helm. SMU is SMU but they have tons of money and history... UTSA could be big and they are consistently top 25.. UAB is stout year in and their basketball team may be the best in the league... I agree Charlotte and Rice are nothing special in football but each brings certain good aspects like Rice academics and Charlotte's location TV market... I think Memphis may be on the cusp of a P5 move.. You seem like you want to take away what the America has done which is propel teams into bigger leagues. They also are the only G5 conference that had a team in the playoffs which is big. Please stop trying to downgrade our new conference or at least be fair with your criticism.
  9. Arkansas is expected to host tight end transfer Jake Roberts for an official visit on Jan. 4. Roberts, 6-5 and 250 pounds, announced plans to transfer from North Texas and enter the portal on Dec. 20. He has since received offers from Arkansas, California, Baylor, SMU, Nebraska, Indiana, Oregon State, Rutgers, Tennessee and others. He was a consensus 3-star prospect in the 2020 class coming out of Norman (Okla.) North High School. He chose the Mean Green over offers from Air Force, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Memphis, Tulsa and Missouri State. Roberts is humbled that he has received so many offers since announcing his transfer. “It’s been crazy," he said. "It’s one of those things, I thought I would get some interest but to have the level I have right now, it’s pretty cool. I didn’t have that coming out of high school. I’m bless to be where I’m at and have to make a really hard decision. I know I’ll make the right one.” He had 28 catches for 394 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. He had 43 receptions for 542 yards and 3 touchdowns during his career at North Texas. Because he announced his transfer during the dead period, Roberts will have to wait to travel to schools during the Jan. 4-8 window when transfers can officially visit schools. “The timeline is so much shorter,” said Roberts, who has two years of eligibility remaining. “Only a couple of weeks timeline now. It’s lot different than it was coming out of high school." Roberts’ recruitment will be hurried this time around, so now he’s in relationship-building mode. “I’m just trying to build relationships with these coaches over the phone, and another thing that makes it hard is the inability to visit right,” he said. “If I was able to get on campus, I believe it would make it a little easier but we just have the visit window from the 4th to the 8th is have to try and decide which schools I’m going to see and make a decision based on that.” He said he’ll likely limit each visit to one day per school. “I think four or five (visits). With my location, I’m within driving distances to some places like Arkansas and SMU,” Roberts said. “It would be tough. I’m going to try.” read more: https://www.wholehogsports.com/news/2022/dec/23/transfer-te-expected-to-visit-hogs/
  10. SAN ANTONIO — North Texas men’s basketball junior forward Abou Ousmane scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Thursday night to lead the Mean Green to a 78-54 Conference USA opening victory over UTSA at the Convocation Center. Ousmane dropped 37 points on an efficient 15-of-19 shooting. It is the most points scored in a single game by a UNT player since Roosevelt Smart scored 42 at Rice on Jan. 13, 2018. “Give UTSA credit, because they kept us off balance early,” said UNT head coach Grant McCasland. “We traded punches with them early in the second half but settled in defensively and got some separation. But Abou was phenomenal.” Ousmane’s 37-point performance surpassed his previous career-high of 23 and is tied for the 18th most points scored in a game by a UNT player. “We were way more efficient tonight and Abou made the simple play and had about as good of a performance as we’ve ever had from the forward position,” McCasland added. As UTSA’s defense limited looks for North Texas’ guards Tylor Perry and Kai Huntsberry Thursday night, Ousmane attacked the rim and finished with finesse. Every time he went up for a hook shot, layup or dunk there was no doubt that it was going in. Even the shots that hit the rim took a good bounce and found its way into the hole. On Thursday, Ousmane got North Texas (10-2, 1-0 C-USA) its fifth straight win by getting off to a quick start. As UNT jumped out to a double-digit lead, Ousmane had nine points 10 minutes into the game. By halftime he had an even 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and was almost outscoring the entire Roadrunners (6-6, 0-1) team. The Mean Green early in the second half did see their double-digit lead shrink but between the 12-minute mark of the second half and the seven-minute mark, UNT went on a 17-0 run to put the game to rest as Ousmane slammed home his 30th point forcing UTSA to call a timeout and try to end the bleeding. Ousmane becomes the sixth player in the McCasland era at North Texas to score 30 or more points in a game. Perry scored 35 in the Mean Green’s 69-54 win over San Jose State on Nov. 25. Perry Thursday night finished with 13 points. It was the second-most points scored in the game. He made three 3-pointers on the night, the second of which was his 100th career 3-point field goal at North Texas. Thursday concludes North Texas’ four-game road trip. They return home Thursday Dec. 29 to host Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. CT. UNT fans and families can purchase one ticket and get up to four tickets free for the men's basketball home games on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31 versus FAU and FIU. Or for the women's basketball games on Jan. 5 and Jan. 7. This offer is for advance purchase only. Contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 for more information.
  11. Im sure he’s still upset about things not working out here and is mad he didn’t get a little more time. I respect him for that.
  12. Just watching his past games and teams it doesn't seem like he uses tight ends as much. That said, I didnt think Seth used them enough either.
  13. Thanks Jaydee! I am really feeling excited and optimistic about what Coach Eric is going to do with this class and future classes.
  14. Will miss seeing his mom at the games. Best of luck to him. Good family.
