With the AAC having already lost UCF, Cincinnati and Houston to the Big XII, there’s fear from some fans of the 14-football playing schools left that the league could see others poached, and the conference weakened. But with the Pac-4 not having a television deal solidified, the Mountain West Conference having an exit fee of $34 million per school, and the American Athletic Conference offering more TV money (more than $7 million annually per school) than the MWC, the chances of a school leaving the AAC for a league not named the ACC, SEC, Big XII or Big 10 seems unlikely. “I’m on the phone daily, making sure I have a full grasp of what is going on nationally,” Gilbert said. “Then I also am certainly keeping the chancellor abreast of what is real, what the discussions are, and financially, where everything is. I feel we’re in a good place right now.” read more:https://247sports.com/college/east-carolina/article/ecu-football-aac-jon-gilbert-conference-expansion-american-athletic-conference-214318419/amp/

Also not a small issue is Then there is the not-so-small case of the Pac-12 owing $50 million to Comcast due to overpayments. That will count against the bottom line. so if they made the Pac go bankrupt and joined the AAC would theybstill owe Comcast that money? That in itself might be reason enough for them to close up the PAC shop!

This could possibly create leverage to get the AAC to vote to dissolve the conference and get the majority of the schools to merge with the PAC

Does anyone have any interest in Head? Seems like he has disappeared. Makes me think he is still injured or something. -

What Will it Take For a Sold Out Stadium?
Tommy Gadberry replied to rojomojo's topic in Mean Green Football
How about the fact it was the same day Mean Joe got his statue honored and there were NFL Hall of Famers all over the place. And a new athletic center was christened. Just a super sad chapter and a perfect example of how this program has sputtered at the most critical junctures. -

For all of those panicked out there about the new look AAC, take notice. The AAC is better than given credit. Especially in basketball. But even in football, the AAC will be ok, and the revamped league provides Tulsa an opportunity for success. Yes, the conference lost its top three football programs in UCF, Cincinnati and Houston. But it didn't lose its best team. Try telling Tulane, which had been a middling AAC program until last year, that it is time to panic. Although picked to win the conference this year in the pre-season poll, the Green Wave wasn't highly thought of coming into the 2022 season. Tulane (12-2, 8-1 AAC) beat No. 12 USC in the Cotton Bowl to finish the season ranked No. 9. The Green Wave doesn't have to take a back seat to anybody. Tulane beat UCF in the conference championship game after losing to the Knights in the regular season, and defeated Houston and Cincy as well. They also won at No. 14 Kansas State. Tulsa (5-7, 3-5) can use that as a motivation since, surprise, the Golden Hurricane is picked 11th out of 14 teams in football this season in the 2023 AAC preseason poll. read more: https://tulsa.rivals.com/news/new-look-aac-provides-opportunity-for-tulsa

SMuT Boosters willing to buy into ACC
Tommy Gadberry replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Mean Green Football
Acting like a common whore and buying your way to the top is not attractive my friend. SMU should be ashamed. 200 million for no revenue. That is truly despicable.
