You have to admit, 23 seconds with no timeouts to tie it up... that's good football

Honestly, neither team looks that good today. So I'm rooting for the bottom of my beer bottle. So I can get another. Edit: By Gawd UTEP looks bad. I know it's oklahoma, but I think we gave them 216% too much credit this year

If Littrell beat SMU will you forgive his past sins?
Udomann replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
If we got paid nearly 2Mil a year to sin, yeah, that'd be great 😉 -
Now it just feels like you're trying to pick a fight when there doesn't need to be one. 2 good hires don't erase the history of bad ones, but maybe it starts a new trend and then yes, we are all excited to see where Seth goes from there. But right now SL has a body of work to overcome, not just a good hire or a good win, and dig himself out of. A 9 win season wouldn't erase the last several, and I don't think we should go throwing him extensions every time something goes right. I'd rather start seeing more go right than wrong, and until I'm confident that our coach can field a full package, I'm going to continue to be cautious. Give us consistency and something to look forward to and I'll be right back on board the Seth Train.

It would move the needle in his favor, definitely, but until SL shows us he's capable of putting together a strong enough offense/OC to consistently compete at the AAC level, then I really think we could still do better for that much money. Our defense and RBs are the only reason I think we have a shot in this game, both courtesy of Bennett and Cobbs
-
Just to clear the air here first. I'm about as big on ridding ourselves of SL as anybody is. I have no love for him as a coach (despite the fact he's generally a great guy). I'm down on this team. Down on the staff. Down on our QB situation. That said, I think we pull this off in a very tight game. 24-21 Mean Green. We have a game behind us, coming in off a strong emotional high and a win. I think the PBs defense knows exactly what to go after (apply the QB pressure, stay tight on your secondary marks). And I think our running game is going to wear out the younger defense of a new coach. It's going to be hard fought, but if Aune doesn't throw the game away (literally), I think we can pull it off.

Can someone explain why Phil yells so much?
Udomann replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
What a weird topic. In leadership, you establish a culture of trust. I tell my guys all the time that we are never there to push down but to build up, even if that includes some breaking down. How you take it is up to you. In a very high intensity and highly emotional sport, that absolutely applies. I feel that PB has earned their trust, and they have earned his to the point that these "breaking downs" can still be emotionally supportive. I imagine these defensive players are playing hard for Phil, and he seems to show a lot of love and compassion for them outside of game time. If you built the right level of trust and support, then this type of leadership can absolutely heighten the emotional drive and push the competitive nature. Or maybe they're a snowflake who chooses to see it as pushing you down. -

****OFFICIAL UNT VS. UTEP IN-GAME DISCUSSION***

All of that is on point except... This is UTEP. Arguably one of the worst teams we should face this year. And we are barely holding on. -

I'm coming prepared this year. Rather than guess/post the state of my drinking and/or mental state, I present the 2022 Whiskey Meter (Whisk-ometer). I'm cracking open the Whitehorse scotch as I post, let's get this going! Note to self: Buy stock in rubbing alcohol -

UTEP 31-17 Our offense doesn't find their groove until game 3. Defense does an admirable job but gets gassed for a 4th quarter beat down. -
Isn't that exactly why you go though? Not really the place you go to pop a polo collar and smash whiteclaws with a rent-a-date
