Sadly, this is not going to be a "wait until the conference tournament" kind of year.  I think it's safe to say at this point that we are no longer contenders.  Injuries may have a lot to do with that, but that's just where we are one way or another, which is middle of the pack.

I guess we’re officially middle of the pack, but the difference between #1 through #7 is so, so small.  There is absolutely no margin for error, yet we’re still competing against the best in the conference.

I would be interested to see a stat that shows how many minutes of each game each team in the conference has been winning.  It’s maddening how much we’ve been leading in most conference games only to lose in the end.  And I’d say missing two starters, or lack of depth, play a big part in that.

The ship already sunk….where have you been lately?

Honestly and no sarcasm here at all.  I love the fact that a 5-7 record with most losses by less than 7 points means the ship has sunk.

As a former coach once told me, “I’ll never apologize for having high expectations.”

it happens everywhere, though...watching the Kansas/Kansas State game last night (TP with 8 of KSU's 11 in OT...closer) and KU, one of the top all-time programs in the country, is basically on a 5.5 man rotation...had 3 players go 43 of 45 minutes (and had 2 starters foul out super late in OT).

it's very abnormal...if not entirely unheard of...to have 12+ players significantly contributing (waiting for @NT80 to say every team is using their entire bench except for UNT)

Agreed.  7-8 man rotation is what I’d think is pretty much the norm as far as players getting significant minutes.

  4. We lost to FAU on a buzzer beater, lost to UAB in overtime, and lost to USF by 5.  All of this while having key players out with injuries.  Had we been playing the weaker teams in conference during this stretch, we probably could have survived it.  Just happened to have to play the best teams in conference when the injury bug bites.

I don’t think you’re as accurate in your prediction as you give yourself credit for.

It hurt to watch this one yesterday, but we just got 'out-dude'd. Remember all those times that North Texas played tight games with opponents only to have Hamlet or Perry rip the opponents heart out at the last second? That's what FAU just did to us.

Don't exactly know how if happened, but FAU got real effin good, real effin fast. Props to them and hopefully we can come out on top next time

I don’t know how many times Davis had an answer after we hit a big bucket.  Several times in the 2nd half I was thinking, “I don’t care if they hit a 3, just don’t let it be Davis that hits it.”

And the game winner!?!?  He’s off-balance, it’s well defended to avoid fouling him…and still…swish.

That guy would be so fun to watch if you were an FAU fan, but it was maddening to watch him yesterday.

That being said, I thought we outplayed them and definitely proved that we belong.

Florida State loses 63-3 to Georgia tonight.   Georgia had nearly 700 yards of offense.

That says a lot about FSU's team, as it was not nearly the same team that played during the first half of the season.  They lost key players due to injury and others skipping the Bowl for other reasons (NIL, Portal, NFL).

    Yeah, tonight was FSU’s JV.

You are right, but getting beat by BC puts them towards the bottom of the ACC.

I want that to be true, but I honestly have no idea with bowl games being what they are (players opting out, etc) and with rosters changing yearly.

My expectation is that they will be somewhere in the bottom half of the conference…probably towards the upper end of the bottom half.

  8. I’m a “no” on playing TxSt.  We are above them in conference affiliation.  Even though we may be very similar to them, I don’t think we need to associate ourselves with them in any way.  I know that seems snobbish, but we need to do what’s best for us to elevate our brand.

Just reading the stuff that was officially reported my first reaction was/is "is this young man bipolar?".

Not sure why you got downvoted for this.  Would you get downvoted for suggesting he had diabetes, cancer, asthma, etc.  All are legitimate conditions that require treatment.

Whatever the issue might be, I hope he can get the help he needs.  If that enables him to help us in football, great, but my main concern would be for his future well being.
