  1. Nice run! 53-45 good guys.
  2. Mean Green radio broadcast is back on.
  3. Getting killed on the boards. That's a lack of intensity and effort. Turn it around boys!
  4. This is the worst we have looked in a long time. Defense has lost their intensity and key guys continue to make silly fouls. We look worn out.
  5. What are everyone's thoughts on UNT paying to play in the CBI this year? It is March 23-27 and all games are in Daytona Florida. Unless we get to the AAC finals, I don't see us getting an NIT invite after the home loss to UTSA. Obviously, we would all rather see us run the table in Ft. Worth and go to the Big Dance but since they changed the format for the CBI, it might be interesting. GMG!
  6. Someone mentioned it on another thread. Does anyone know if Rubin has another year of eligibility left because of COVID? I know he is listed as a senior but I thought it was strange that we honored him for being the winningest player last Sunday but didn't have any kind of senior night ceremony for him Wednesday night. I assume that Allen didn't want one since he is a grad transfer. Rubin was the only other senior listed on the roster. Would love to have him back since this year was wasted by his hamstring injury.
  7. Really hurt not having Walker to take on Davis.
  8. We got it from the same people that made the cannon for UTSA.
  9. FAU's Dusty May on playing the Mean Green in Denton Wednesday night: "they're healthy now. They've played extremely well with a full roster. They beat Memphis at home. And then they bring in Rubin Jones and CJ Nolan back from injury and they sputtered the first game or two. I think sometimes you bring a guy back from injury and you just expect him to work back in seamlessly. In reality, roles change, rotations change, it's not quite that simple. And as we know it, every game is hard to win and is a challenge to win. So they played as well offensively as they have all season yesterday vs East Carolina at home, so they're clicking with a full roster and we're very well aware of how difficult it's going to be to win and in The Pit."
  10. I didn't look at the calendar. The students are out the week leading up to Thanksgiving. They still may head out for the break and skip the game.
  11. It would be better for us if East Carolina won against Memphis and then we beat them on Sunday. We would catch up with Memphis. We would have the tie breaker with both schools.
  12. Hate that we always have a home game Thanksgiving weekend when the students are out.
  13. Are any of these games on ESPN+, or just the SEC network?
  14. Did anyone else notice that the times we were most effective on offense were when we scored in transition and didn't do the three men weave out front and run the shot clock down? I know that is our style to help limit and frustrate our opponents but when we are healthy, I think we can play more up-tempo. We are good enough to not have to muck up a game to cover for only playing 7 guys. We have bigs that can run the floor and that was how we played during the NIT run. I saw some of that at times last night. Hope we see more of it as the returning guys get back up to speed. Rubin excels in the open court.
  15. Defense has got to get back to holding teams around 60. We got outrebounded tonight and bullied in the paint. I wonder if we were so worried about staying out of foul trouble that we backed off our physicality. Edwards looks like it will take him another game or two to adjust to his off the ball role. It looked like he tried to go back to running the point a couple of times and turned the ball over. Defensive rotations were not good last night. Have to get that cleaned up before the tournament. GMG!
  16. How many scholarships do we get for basketball? It's probably 12-14. If that is correct, I'm fine having Stone getting one to be your 10th or 11th guy. We don't realize how hard it is to find guys that are willing to bust their butt in practice every day and not play. From what Grant said last year, the guys we have on the end of our bench work hard, are team players and don't complain. I'm sure the guys on the end of most college teams fall into that same category. I agree with you that I don't understand why we have some of these guys on scholarships if they aren't good enough to play but I also don't know what goes into building a team roster at UNT.
  17. To be fair, there are others on this roster that are scholarship players that don't ever see the floor.
  18. Two teams that are struggling right now. Need to get back to our shut down defense and shoot at least 35% from deep. Winning on the road is never easy but defense travels.
  19. We got to use to Hamlet and Perry bailing us out the past 4 years. This team needs to have set plays to run. That's on Hodge.
  20. Worst loss in several years and Hodge took the blame for not calling time out but he got out coached all day. Hopefully he learns from this. Lowest point of the season. Will be interested in how this team and coaching staff respond.
  21. Don't the afternoon starts have more time between games? If so, I'd rather have the extra rest.
  22. The only thing that may derail us in the tournament is having to play 4 games in 4 days. Hopefully with everyone back we will be able to go 9 deep and give some guys a little rest.
  23. Conference tournament is going to be wide open!
