  1. Just saw that the HS point guard from Arkansas, Taylor, has backed out of his commitment to us. I'm afraid to look at any UNT basketball story now. When will we have something positive to talk about? This is depressing!!!
  2. Other than Stone Earle in football, how many other guys have entered the portal and come back to their school? I haven't heard of many. These guys have a lot of voices in their ears. It's kind of like dumping your girlfriend because you think you can do better than you don't have the guts to swallow your pride and ask her to take you back.
  3. For a Coach and a system that asks guys to be unselfish, love each other and put team and others before self. It's going to be hard to get guys to buy into that for one year. He may have to change the philosophy. I don't think you will have guys knocking down the doors to come play defense. I trust Hodge will do whatever it takes to put a winning product on the floor, but I do think our system/style will be different.
  4. With all of the guards leaving, Moore may want to come back.
  5. It would be nice for Vito to interview Hodge.
  6. I'd give John Williams a call about sponsorship.
  7. Where is the Record Chronicle when we need them?
  8. I don't blame the players. I blame the system that has destroyed the era of "student athletes". Why should they have to keep a certain grade point average or pass a specific number of hours each year? We are starting to see more HS transfers allowed. How long until they can sign deals with Nike and Adidas?
  9. This isn't the professional world...well, I guess your right. With NIL it is now. Better start getting these young people agents to help them make smart decisions.
  10. We aren't the only school losing 5-6 players. This is what happens when you allow unlimited transfers and no NIL regulations. I really don't care if anyone from last season stays. It will be new guys every year.
  11. I would have liked for him to stay but he was a one-dimensional player and a streaky one at that. He can be replaced.
  12. I'd almost rather bring in kids from lower D1, D2 and JC schools that are excited to be at North Texas. Remember the passion that Javion, Tyler and Kia played with when they got here. You could tell they loved being at UNT. I saw the same thing from Buggs this year. I know that can change from year to year and I'm not saying don't try for the best players but get people that WANT to be here.
  13. From Final 4 to complete destruction of the entire program in two years. Just sad.
  14. Does anyone know how the NIL groups actually work? Are they private or public record? Can those who donate find out where their money went, how much money was collected and distributed to each athlete, ect?Since the money doesn't come directly from the universities I assume the athletes aren't school employees so we can't find out how much each one gets under their NIL deal.
  15. Kai was a D2 guy and that worked out well. The fact that OU is interested in him makes me think he may be worth the risk. He is also went to HS in Hurst so he is a local kid. Definitely have to do our research on him.
  16. Central Oklahoma (Division II) guard Jaden Wells: Wells was named a Division II All-American this season with averages of 21.5 points and 4.2 rebounds. He has also heard from programs such as North Texas, Oral Roberts and UT Arlington, per PDT Scouting.
  17. They just lost Golden, Rosado and Boyd along with their coach. We aren't the only school having turnover.
  18. What if we replace them with guys that are better? This program is on a solid foundation. Over .500 every year should be the minimum expectation.
  19. I think he should be able to go to whatever school he wants BUT if he goes to one of our conference rivals, I'll boo the heck out of him! I also don't think he is a legit NBA talent at this point in his career.
  20. I don't think we will hear any news of signings in the near future. I think it is like free agency, the big names will sign first with the Power 5's and then the others will filter down to the mid majors. There will be some really good players that will fall through the cracks. We will have to be really patient in this process. Make sure it is the right guy for our program. GMG
  21. How long until this gets brought up? You only have a handful of women college athletes that are making big NIL money. Clark and Reese in basketball and Dunne at LSU in gymnastics. This isn't going away and I'm sure lawyers are chomping at the bit to take the NCAA to court.
  22. We had better get used to it. That is the way it is going to be every year going forward with the current situation in place. Glad we have someone like Ross who has that Junior College experience of rebuilding a roster every year.
  23. This doesn't have anything to do with playing time. He is probably looking to play his final year in a bigger conference and make some money from the NIL. Don't blame him at all. He has earned that right and I wish he was staying but hope he finds what he is looking for. He can be a great role player on a top ten level team.
  24. Maybe we should all appreciate the years Ruben and Aaron have stayed here even more!
