  1. Yup... The D is showing good progress but the O is... where? Not in the game at this point...
  2. All true. You cannot FORCE dumb people to do what is good for themselves. Only throw your hands up in horror. Land of the free (to kill yourself etc) and all that! I guess my gripe here is that the Police and CSC staff on the bridge were more concerned with directing traffic than somebody with a medical emergency right in front of them, which is kind of nice ... NOT!
  3. Buses were running but people (Texans especially) insist on ignoring them... You can't please everyone. Agreed that you don't need to spend thousands to park at Apogee, but even $250 a year is too much for many "oldies". Kiddies who don't think Granny has a hard time are surprised when she can't really walk that far... a lesson well learned. My guess is that "sonny" was the alumni and granny was asked to come along ... I am sure it won't happen again! As you say, the program is now pre-pubescent ... getting better all the time.
  4. Just so you know... I have a son who is an alum and is now at HSC in FW and was studying until 4pm so could not get there any earlier. He and his girl friend (a current Denton MA student), drove up from Cowtown and tried to park at 5:30pm in Fouts ... NO WAY! They had to park way out to the east of Campus about half way to downtown. While they were walking over the NT BLVD bridge, there was one older person sitting on the ground with a walking frame and family assisting. Police and CSC staff were ignoring them. My son is a medical student, HE helped them and organized getting the woman with the walking frame under control and over to the stadium. They were told by someone else that at least one person had also fainted on a bus earlier in the afternoon. I had also walked over from Apogee to Fouts at about 3pm to meet with a friend who was tailgating in Fouts. Even though I was ok with the walk there and back, it was hot and I had have a drink once I got over there (of course), or I'd have been really pooped once I got back to my Apogee TG site. I am in my mid-50's and not too unfit... Younger NT fans are going to be ok with that walk - it'll be a non-issue if you are under 60 and fit, otherwise, not to be advised... Older (like over 65) and less mobile NT fans are not used to having to walk the distances involved with the new stadium, so will have to find alternatives if they are not up to the walk. Probably means they will stay home and listen on the MGRN, after all, if you have a fixed income, you may not be able to afford the club membership. I know that other stadiums involve this kind of walk etc, etc, but they are not UNT. We have lowered our standards to the level of the others "because they do it that way". My conclusion is that it seems that age and mobility discrimination is alive and well in Denton.
  5. Oh sorry... I thought that was the sound system itself, what with all the pops, crackles, feedback, rhythmic drum noises and so on... I'm sure it'll get fixed over the next two weeks...
  6. It's all a mindset if you have the luxury of a WINNING team. It's much more 'sensitive' to how things are going on the field otherwise. Officiating issues to one side, we were yelling and waving, standing and screaming right up to half way... Houston then finally worked out how to get things done against us as soon as they came out for the 3rd quarter. All the energy went away from our section... It kind of got obvious what the Oline was going to do... and how Houston were able to run us on 3rd downs. It felt to me as if a certain previous head coach had walked in and said "Option play only for the rest of the game and shut up all you season ticket holders, I don't care." So we did... sheer habit. We all have to learn to do this stuff right (it's been a long time, after all) just as the team do. The 1st half was much better from the noise point of view, because we were actually in the running ----- they need to be closer, not 20 or more points behind for that kind of noise!
  7. Guys, The alumni section is full of OLD people. Most have a limited amount of energy and need to see a close game to keep it up; we are older than students who think nothing of all night parties and such... It was also past bedtime for most of us ancients! I am over 50 years old and was there in section 205 with someone else in her 50's and another in her 70's. Don't expect us to keep up with those in their early 20's. We did however have the wind knocked out of us in the 3rd quarter and never got it back. Perhaps next time, we'll get it better - if the team can too, so will we.
  8. It's in Harry's post (the OP), at: Click for link to Brett Vito article
  9. I thought that was a pretty good summary from Brett. We were in it until half way. Yes, the O was actually here and there was a lot of the game where the D was doing it's job and not just rolling over and giving up. Chancellor has indeed been a bright spot and we can hope for more players like him. Correct that Dunbar is being "sat on" and we need to either find a way round that or find another outstanding player to use in that role. Don't know about Andrew McNulty, but he could be good if he is able to do what he did last night on a regular basis as it's more (score a TD) than many other MG players have managed over the last few years. I'm tempted to say that all this is such a change from the last few years; good job and keep up the improvement - even if Brett didn't actually wave the flag of hope quite that high. Remember that considering the opposition, the first few games were always - ALWAYS - going to be losses (sorry to say that, but considering the job Mac has on his plate, and the quality of the opposition involved, it's true). What we are seeing now is an NT football team in the process of rebuilding and even after the last two losses, this is a great improvement and a sign of hope for later in the year or maybe next.
  10. We drove out of the red parking lot and were almost overrun by people walking along Bonnie Brae - where were no street lights. All it'll take is for one young kid or someone who tailgated "too hard" to fall under a truck and it'll be a nightmare. They need to do something about that road and people walking...
  11. Not alone and frustrated by some of those calls. Guy next to me said that at times, it did kind of look like Houston were officiating tonight.
  12. Fred needs to restrict his comments to Fantasy Football. Fantasy cop shows are about his limit...
  13. If we win then maybe it will. BUT... For sure, if Lee (move UNT to downtown Dallas) Jackson gets his way then it will change.
  14. Got mine today too. Sec 205 Row 2. Parking is in the "Red" lot it seems from the color of the tickets... The large lots at the south/east end of the hall, should be easy to walk the TG stuff up to the hill at the east side of the hall. All assuming we get there early enough to find some space up there!!!
  15. You don't have a spouse who is a "Type A" controlling/planning freak, do you?  Yes, a LOT of people have started to plan, and as a MG Club member I have friends who know I am still involved at UNT and are bugging me all the time for information that they simply cannot get from the AD.
  16. Anything depending on how organized they are. Last few years, season tickets were available for pick up (along with parking passes for club members etc) at cook-off day. I think that THIS year, all the attention in the people who do this has been diverted from looking after fans to crowing about the stadium and not doing much else (like the job they are employed to do). True. My wife and her parents (who we buy season tickets for) like to have them as early as possible and plan for tailgating etc....
  17. Seen this kind of thing before... the "personalized" addresses are just alias entries on a system that redirects everything to just one page. It's a marketing ploy, no more than that. Your name may not be spelled properly in a student/alumni/MG club database (whatever it is they used) somewhere. Call them and raise hell!!!!
  18. I just spoke with someone at the ticket office and was told that football season tickets will be sent out sometime next week or the week after. MG Club members parking passes were something they had no idea about as they are coming from a different printing company. Huh? Did I get my math wrong, or are there just 3 weeks to go before first home game... Is this last minute stuff and disorganization (just see the posts about no tailgating info) a sign of things to come from UNT? I hope not.
  19. The AD seems to be confused about tailgating.... Not about anyone paying $$$$$$ to the MG club however, just about the stuff that fans enjoy... Cynical? Me?
  20. Yes there is... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mean-Green-Tailgating/211496652212474?sk=info
