  1. Is there a third kind of lineman catagory for that 11th signee?
  2. I agree. "Opening it up" is a lot different than "passes of desperation".
  3. I'm wondering why everyone thinks that Patton is so much better than Mr. Santiago. Last I heard, Texas football is pretty highly regarded, and Mr. Santiago was named to a Texas 5-A all-state team.
  4. I like the polo that the young man is wearing. I'd like to see ALL of the team wearing them when they do their walk-thru with the fans on game day. I also like the green "T's" that many of those people were wearing at the ceremony. Bold and simple.......classic.
  5. Is his "ship" part of the five that DD talks about?
  6. If it's his gallbladder, and if he has "band-aid" surgery (like my wife did), he'll be able to preside over spring ball. But he'll need to have it done this week. I am very sorry to hear about this. I am very relieved that it doesn't appear to be cardio-vascular in nature. He needs to stop smoking.......as does everyone who smokes.
  7. You know. It doesn't seem like it is destined for me to make connections with the organization. My wife and I decided this morning to go to the movies tonight. Timely announcements guys.
  8. As I've said somewhere else.....that won't work.
  9. No, I was thinking of Mercury Morris. MM couldn't have been any bigger than 5'8" X 190lbs.
  10. GO! FIGHT'N NUTRIAS!!!! http://www.nationaltrappers.com/nutria.html
  11. My source tells me that the Gainesville player (the all-state LB) went after his knees with his helmet......at the end of a very impressive multi-direction-changing-juking-darting run. My source also tells me that this years Gainesville players are known to make leg and ankle "adjustments" on opposing players, while they are in a pile-up. Anyway, my source tells me that Devin is a "ball of gristle" who can play D-1 ball and could (if developed) make some very big plays for North Texas.
  12. Oh my! Now, there's an image that people didn't need......... .......
  13. Waters will be called upon to help bring along the younger linemen. He has coaching ability? Hmmmmm........
  14. Well, I've certainly tried from time to time. Like the time I was harassing Cerebus on the sidelines at the ArkSt. game.
  15. idp054, do you live in Decatur? I agree about him needing to be paired with a good role model. Besides a good "peer" role model, kids from his situation (this is my area of expertise) need to have their support system close by (ie his foster/adoptive parents). That's why I hope that the coaching staff is not thinking about placing him at a JUCO. It won't work.
  16. I watched him play only one time, and that was the Decatur/Abeline Wylie game in 04. Devin had been hurt the week before, so he wasn't playing at 100% against Wylie. I was struck by how quick he was,...even while playing hurt. For those old enough, I would compare Devin's style of running and quickness to that of "Mercury Morris". Being 5'7" doesn't bother me either. I believe that there is a former Oklahoma Sooner RB who was 5'7" and is now playing in the NFL. I also believe that Ja'Quay Wilburn was about 5'7".
  17. I'm gratified that the coaching staff went after someone that they thought would help the program. However, I think that they should have better spent their time and energy on players that really wanted to be here, and were more........motivated. I believe that Scott Hall came here because he was motivated to succeed at QB, and no other program was willing to give him a shot at QB. I was re-reading an article recently in an old Texas Football about my favorite QB Jordan Case. Case was overlooked because he was injured in HS. He went to Sul Ross St and played one year there. He was either newcomer of the year or freshman of the year in that league. He then wrote a letter to the North Texas coaching staff, asking that he be given a chance to play at North Texas. I'm assuming that the coaching staff at that time was impressed both by his freshman showing (in a less than impressive league) as well as his level of motivation to be here. The rest, (for those who had the pleasure of watching him play) is history. Jordan Case was a player with outstanding talent, as well as an incredible drive to succeed. He was also a person of incredible character. To me, being able to assess/judge those things in a recruit is a very valuable asset as a coach/recruiter.
  18. I wish him well too. However, I think that we have enough viable candidates to work with for a few years.
  19. I called the hospital and they told me the same thing......no Dickey of any sort has been admitted to their hosp.

  21. Uhhh, are you both saying that Fouts was "crappy" from the day that it opened?
