  1. The tradition-steeped Rose Bowl is considered the “Granddaddy of them all.” But the hastily arranged Frisco Football Classic, which kicks off Thursday in the same stadium that on Tuesday hosted the Frisco Bowl, says far more about what’s driving the proliferation of postseason games.Yep The Frisco Football Classic was ginned up the week before this season’s bowl pairings were announced to solve a thorny problem that arose when 83 teams finished the regular season with at least six wins. That was one too many bowl-eligible teams for the 82 slots in the 41 preapproved bowls. So ESPN Events, which owns and operates more than one-third of the bowl games, huddled with the conferences that stood to lose out and proposed a 42nd bowl. With the NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee agreeing Dec. 2 to waive a deadline for certifying bowl games that had passed eight months before, a new bowl was born virtually overnight. read more: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/12/22/frisco-football-classic/
  2. I stole this topic from @PlummMeanGreen but did anyone see Traylor hat last night with the THSCA on it? Stands for Texas High School Coaches assoc. I believe. Anyway, is it just me or is this guy the Garth Brooks of coaching? I mean we get it that you think you are gods gift to coaches and all but damn man could you give it a break with all the gimmicks like Triangle of Trust and just coach your damn team? This guy is the biggest used car salesman I have ever seen.

  10. Two Pittsburgh Steelers legends will be dialed into Thursday's bowl game between North Texansand Miami (Ohio). Joe Greene, widely regarded as the greatest player in Steelers history, starred at North Texas before embarking on a Hall of Fame career in Pittsburgh. Ben Roethlisberger led the Redhawks to a Mid-American Conference title in 2003 before winning two Super Bowls as Pittsburgh's quarterback. Roethlisberger has placed a friendly wager with Greene ahead of the first-ever Frisco Football Classic. Here are the terms of Roethlisberger's wager: If Miami wins: Roethlisberger will receive a "Mean" Joe Greene autographed jersey If North Texans wins: Roethlisberger will donate to the Agnes Lucille Craft Greene Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was started by Greene in honor of his late wife whom he met when the two were students at North Texas. read more: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ben-roethlisberger-makes-friendly-bowl-wager-with-steelers-legend-mean-joe-greene/amp/

  13. South Oak Cliff quarterback Kevin Henry-Jennings signed with SMU, RB Qualon Farrar with UNT and DB Kyron Chambers with TCU. DALLAS - Signing day was extra special for some Dallas ISD student athletes. Football players at South Oak Cliff High School will head to a state title game this weekend, but some of the team's key players were focused on college as they signed letters of intent on Wednesday. Quarterback Kevin Henry-Jennings signed with SMU, RB Qualon Farrar with UNT and DB Kyron Chambers with TCU. The crowd also heard words of encouragement from head football coach Jason Todd, plus SOC alumnus and former NFL wide receiver LaTarence Dunbar. The SOC Golden Bears play Liberty Hill this Saturday at 11 a.m. at AT&T Stadium. For fans who are not able to make it to the stadium, the district is hosting a watch party at Ellis Davis Fieldhouse.
