  3. City asked to annex 3,400-acre ranch Proposal includes planned upscale housing and a possible UNT golf course 07:16 AM CST on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 By Cliff Despres / Staff Writer Homes, businesses, Loop 288 and maybe a University of North Texas golf course are headed for the expansive M.T. Cole Ranch outside Denton, where cattle roamed up to now, city officials and landowners said Monday. The Stratford Co. of Dallas has asked the city of Denton to annex its 3,400-acre ranch to make way for a master-planned community off Interstate 35W. Development could start in 2008 and finish in 2020, Stratford officials say. Dave Denison of Stratford, which owns the ranch with the Cole family, said his firm has a deal, in principle, to donate land to UNT so university officials can build a “championship” golf course near Tom Cole Road, perhaps in five years. UNT leaders did not confirm the deal Monday. Denison briefed the City Council on the project at a meeting Monday. Council members say Cole Ranch can add high-end housing, attract other master-planned communities and speed up road projects, such as extending Loop 288. “Large, master-planned communities are very valuable to a city like Denton. We have some control over what happens there over a large period of time,” said Mayor Euline Brock, noting that the city is trying to craft new rules to ease the path for such master-planned developments after past mixed-use projects failed to bring more than apartments. “We’ve been looking forward to a project like this.” First, however, the project must overcome some obstacles. Developers still must get utility service, address city concerns about apartments and establish plans for the golf course with UNT. http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...o.580d107c.html
  4. You'll probably hear something soon
  5. That looks like you wrote 30 inches. . . .
  6. The team looked really good in the first half. The final score was much closer than the game really was. If it weren't for a lot of showboating and goofing off in the second half, the final score wouldn't have been so close. Troy played tough though and fought back hard; I give them credit for not giving up and playing hard the whole way.
  7. ladies looked good tonight. they really controlled the game and played well.
  8. As many refs, players and fans will say, a penalty could be called on every single play during a football game. What it comes down to is whether the "penalty" affected the actual play. Was someone held clear across on the other side of the field from the ball? I have spoken to several refs who have said so and they try to focus on only calling penalties when it obviously affected the play. Another way to look at it is when Brandon K. was here, he got held most of the game, but the refs wouldn't call it every time it happened.
  9. they have completely fallen apart. talk about not being able to handle pressure.
  10. Yep, right here: He was second team offense and defense his junior year (first link) and first team defense/second team offense his senior year (second link).
  11. Actually, he was first team on defense.
  12. i think it's too early, but we probably need 20+ wins and a good showing in the conference tournament for an nit invite. if we had won at a&m, i would think that 20 would probably have gotten us into the nit.
  13. Hmm, listed as WR and LB here. Looks like an athlete to me Click Here
  14. Craig seems more like a TE or DL according to this site Click Here
  15. I find this post hilarious So if we beat SMU, does that mean Methodists are not holy? Or does it mean Methodists are also rooting for UNT in this game?
  16. Fantastic game. Here's to hoping Vince decides to enter the draft; he looked unbelievable in that game and should be a top 5 pick.
  17. Football: North Texas fills holes with JUCO signings 08:24 AM CST on Thursday, December 22, 2005 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer North Texas set out to fill several holes in its lineup a few weeks ago with midterm junior college recruits. By the end of national signing day on Wednesday, UNT defensive coordinator Kenny Evans felt like the Mean Green had addressed all but one of those voids. UNT has received national letters of intent from offensive lineman Trent Stanley and defensive back Roy Loren of Coffeyville Community College and tight end Brian Carlson of Kilgore College. Coffeyville quarterback Woody Wilson said Wednesday that he had signed his letter of intent, but was still in the process of forwarding the paperwork to UNT. http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...ls.13a3bf8.html
  18. Football: UNT picks up JUCO OL Stanley 09:31 AM CST on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer North Texas’ pipeline from Coffeyville Community College paid dividends again on Tuesday when the Mean Green landed their biggest and possibly most decorated player thus far in recruiting. Trent Stanley, a 6-2, 290-pound offensive lineman, confirmed Tuesday night that has orally committed to play for UNT. Oral commitments are non-binding. Junior college players can sign binding national letters of intent beginning today. Stanley was a second-team NJCAA All-American in addition to being selected first-team All-Jayhawk Conference. He is the third Coffeyville player to commit to join UNT’s 2006 recruiting class. http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...up.6515b37.html
  19. We didn't particularly look that good most of the game. It's just that Angelo State played that poorly. Also, we gave up 45 points in the second half. Granted that it was pretty much garbage time, but that's not the kind of defensive intensity that's going to help us win against better teams. Still, a win's a win. I'll take it and be happy about it.
  20. I think the focus is on a CUSA team to maybe build up relationships that might be helpful in the future. . . .
