  1. Everyone has different tastes. Siam at Carriage Square if you like Thai food. Green House on North Locust. Hannah's just south of the square. Three Finns just off of I35 and the Loop for seafood. Frilly's on Denison just north of University for Cajun. Chinatown Cafe on West University is popular for Chinese Buffet. Sweet Basil is also popular for Thai and is located at Denton Crossing. Burgundy's ($$$) for Steaks is just west of the square on Hickory. Bari's is near campus on Oak for Italian.
  2. Additional comments on Rausch. http://www.theoldcoach.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=45324
  3. Did anyone else see this? I will try to link it if I can find it on the WFAA website. It was the 10 o'clock newscast.
  4. He played at Ft Worth Christian until his Senior Year. The SMU poster said he had seen him recently and that he had grown bigger than he was in high school and also said he may be a diamond in the rough.
  5. A post from the SMU board says Trevor Ashlock (starting safety from Southlake in 2005) decided not to play college ball and went to Arkansas. It says he has transferred to UNT and will walk on this spring. Anyone know anything about him?
  6. Great press and a good story on a quality person. Talked about his service in Iraq before playing college ball.
  7. Since our last game is Feb. 24 and the SBC Quarterfinals are March 4, is there anyone else who thinks it would be better to play a home game on Feb. 28 to start the tournament and avoid the layoff of 8 days? I want to win out, but I am not sure a home conference tournament game to start would be such a bad thing.
  8. You make very good points, perhaps your paranoia may prove to have a basis in fact. You clearly are keenly aware of past late season collapses and are not willing to jump on the bandwagon to quick. You sound like a man who will evaluate matters based on past performance and hold a coaches feet to the fire.
  9. What about these North Texas Defensive Ends: Tony Elliot the 3rd pick of the 5th round by New Orleans in 1982; Reginald Lewis a 3rd round pick by Tampa Bay in 1979; or Mel Davis a 15th round pick by the Steelers in 1976. Is he better than them?
  10. Better than Cedric Hardman (the number 9 overall pick in the 1970 NFL draft and a pro bowler in 1971)? If he is anywhere near Cedric in ability he will be great.
  11. I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!
  12. Now for the Sun Belt: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Belt_Conference.
  13. Here are the numbers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_12_Conference.
  14. They apparently recruited him as a running back. The official roster is http://navysports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...footbl-mtt.html.
  15. I did not see him on the Naval Academy Roster. Did he attend the Naval Academy Prep School and play there?
  16. I would guess either: (1) Headley from Wyoming (Freshman from Grapevine) or (2) Ponder from Fla. State (Freshman from Colleyville) This is pure speculation.
  17. First game in person was October 30, 1971 vs. Drake. The first time I ever watched NT play was a televised game in Dec. 1970 vs. Tulsa.

  19. The stands are closer to the field, the press box etc. is newer and nicer, and it would be easier to bulldoze than Fouts, but I certainly hope that when we build our new staduim we will do a lot better than that. It was not my intent to focus on the stadium in the above post. I simply think that our campus, our facilities other than Fouts, and our proximity to home make us much more attractive to recruits from Texas than a school in the WAC that is over 1000 miles away.
  20. Maybe he visited Nevada Reno. I spent a week at a seminar on the UN campus a few years ago and I was not very impressed. Their staduim is an erector set facility, and Reno itself, though not that far from Lake Tahoe, has little to offer other than gambling (Vegas it ain't). Not to mention that other than La Tech and NMSU, every other school in the WAC is more than 1000 miles away.
  21. How does Arkansas Pine-Bluff, a 1-AA member of the SWAC, end up as our only competition if he is rated as highly as has been claimed?
  22. Is number 30 Fred Hunter the son of one of our former players?
  23. His son also played at NT, he served on the Board of Regents in the late 70's, and I know back then he did some promotional work for NT. I think it would be worth the effort to seek a donation, but I don't think you could expect anything really big.
  24. UALR lost to Tulsa. I knew of the ULM loss to SMU and it did not take long to discover the UALR loss. I have not checked the rest. Why don't you check all the schedules again and update us on this.
