I am a graduate of North Texas and for obvious reasons am a little frustrated with the performance of their athletic programs as of late. I am a local guy, have been my whole life, was accepted to your institution out of high school, chose to go elsewhere, then ended up at UNT somehow. Anyway, I want to start by saying that I am not a bandwaggoner, a fairweather, or any other cliche term for a bad fan. I don't mind supporting a losing team every now and then, as it makes success that much sweeter. That being said, there are a few reasons as to why I am officially announcing my "jumping off" of North Texas football. Personnel moves, my relationship with the AD, etc, has led me to do this - not just their on field performance. We would be a mid-tier talent on the Div 1AA level and it is truly sad. SoAs I said, local guy, almost went to your school, have been following you already for a number of years, and I want to support a local team. I came here also because there is no way on God's green earth I would ever support SMU sports in any way. I do plan to buy season tickets next season by the way. So answer me Frog fans - Can I join you?
  2. PGA SUper store with locations in Plano and Frisco. They have headcovers for drivers and putters, towels, tees, etc all with mean green logo.
  3. Happy Festivus! Can I say that without being suspended?
  4. I will be watching Georgio on TV, won't be able to make it out to Denton. I wouldnt' expect a big crowd either, holiday season doesn't usually bode well for our attendance numbers. Sad. Will look like ass on TV. Can I say ass without getting suspended???
  5. I'm sure it will be. In the past over the holidays they have had an intern or assistant run it while the admin staff is usually on vaca.
  6. Hate to be Debbie Downer, but I will believe it when I see it.
  7. And someone finally gets it. Thank you.
  8. I think a big test of our abilities will be the game @ Arkansas. It will be roughly the midway point of the season, and will show us if we have the game to play with the big boys. Especially big boys we could possibly encounter in a round 1 or 2 tourney game.
  9. Yes this is the only board I visit because there are not many things I care about enough to take the time to read about. Also, you guys crack me up sometimes. Third, I actually work at my job and thus have little time to surf.
  10. No one. You can just always count on a "know it all" to have a smart ass remark anytime you ask a question on this board.
  11. Thank you for the very nice response. I didn't realize that Galbreath was a JUCO. He was before my time as well. I wonder why they are so hit and miss.
  12. Just asked a simple question. No need to be a smartass. God I hate this board.
  13. I didn't know Weathers was a transfer. He was there before I got there. Fair enough, thanks.
  14. Way too much to ask. We would have to double our win output over teh past two seasons. I just don't see it happening in 09, but soon I hope.
  15. It seems that currently, and in the past, we have been very high on JUCO transfers. It seemed like every year Dickey signed someone from Coffeyville CC in Kansas or some other crazy ass JUCO. I ask you this, Mean Green fans, and there is probably an obvious answer currently skipping my mind, but here it goes: When is the last time a JUCO transfer really panned out for us and put in a quality 2-3 years? Has it ever happened? If it has, I know they have been few and far between. Please MG Fans, shed some light on this for me...
  16. Thanks. I needed a laugh this morning. Hilarious.
  17. The Super Pit employs and staffs their merchandise people and ticket takers. Take it up with them.
  18. Yes, that is all I have to offer. It seems half of my posts are deleted, but we shall give this one a shot. I don't know why people think our students should be so gung ho about our program. They spend their lives watching Big 12 and SEC action on the tube, wearing UT, A&M, and OU gear to school, etc. Then, they go to college. Perhaps for monetary reasons, academic reasons, or specific interests, they end up at UNT. They go to meangreensports.com prior to arriving on campus to check out the sports. "I think UNT has a football team, lets check it out" Upon arriving, they see are dismal record and basically horrifying rap sheet over the past 4 seasons. Said student then begins to wonder, "should i even go to any games" His buddies drag him out of the dorm for that first home game. Excitement fills the air for the first college football experience. Three hours later, we lose by 40 to Tulsa. Three months later, we are 1-11, 2-10, take your pick.. The student is demoralized. Over Christmas break while enjoying a few beers and sports talk with his pals, his buddies that went to Tech, UT, OU, OSU, hell even Baylor give him shit for his football team. Already only a casual observer due to the fact that he may have gone to ONE game after that home opener beat down, the student shruggs it off, throws back on his OU shirt, and is forever not a fan of NT football. Unfortunately, said student is already so beat down by football, he doesn't even bother attending a basketball game. This is in no way my college experience, so save your jokes. What I am trying to say is this: Here at NT, the strong survive, the other stop caring. It takes a true fan. You either are you aren't. Stop making threads such as this that question people. More than likely, if they are takign the time to read this board and shed their opinions on things, they don't need to be questioned. As far as non-students go, people give what they can. Times are tough, so don't call people out about donations or brag about the one you are able to make. People do what they can. No need to plea and beg them to be fans. If they want to support their alma mater by attending a game or making a donation, or even listening to a radio broadcast then GREAT! FANTASTIC! If they don't, then who cares. I won't lose any sleep over it and neither should you.
