That’s the whole thing….. Can they or can’t they. Right now there’s NO deal.

However….be careful what they wish for. If I’m ESPN, I see the money going out (current contract) and I know I’m not going to have the same money coming in (the 3 best and most visible programs left) so I might WANT to renegotiate. The question is, do the PAC 4 leftovers make more money for ESPN than the top 10 programs and CFP challengers that left. I would argue maybe not….

So are you saying any AAC or MWC teams they add get a piece of that $430 million?

If you’re one of the Pac 4 (specifically Stanford) what’s better for recruiting? Being independent? Or being in a conference with perceived lesser schools?

Highly recommend that article....good info. Something that stood out to me (and something I didn't think made a lot of sense) This notion of "they fit the academic profile so they're a fit in a conference." That's such crap. Yeah presidents claim it matters....right up until adding that team takes $5 million out of their pocket....then screw academic profile. Never agreed with that argument.

If we could what? Tell a conference that we’ll pay our own way in if they’ll please let us in? And then they still don’t want us? We’re supposed to be jealous of that? If you would be anything but extremely embarrassed by that….then you’re just as pathetic as your school. I would want everyone fired for making the school look so pathetic. WOW

Funny thing. When you say “modern era”. You’re not talking 2000s or 90s or even 80s. We’re talking post WWII that’s their modern era They’ve literally done nothing since the 40s. Pretty amazing actually.

Kind of what I was thinking..... If he's showing something this fall, then let's go. But I don't care if the best QB this year won't be here next year. Play the one that helps us win this year.....this year. This is a year by year thing....we'll worry about next year next year. Who's to say we can't challenge for the conference this year with a senior that puts us on a trajectory and gets us a super stud transfer next season... Let's try to win as many games as we can this year....

And why would those 2 from AAC and the best of the Mountain West do that? And who would pay this collection of teams an upgraded TV deal? And why would they do that?

If you truly hate SMU……you want to watch them do this. Really pay their way into the ACC and watch what happens next. We’ll be back in the same conference with them in a few year only they’ll have spent all those millions to end up right back where they belong.
