I suppose it's plausible that Tech could hire from within, but here's my thought: It has got to sting for them to lose a head coach to a conference mate, and an internal hire might not make a big enough splash to appease their wounded alums.

Louisiana Tech has done well against the state of Mississippi so far this season. Let's hope that continues against Mississippi State.

There are still some moving parts based on the games to be played today, but if I'm understanding correctly, here's the situation if we lose this afternoon: Wednesday game vs. MTSU/FIU winner Thursday game vs. ODU (assuming they lose to WKU today) Friday game vs. LTU (unless they get upset) Saturday championship vs. WKU/UAB/Marshall (or someone else, if there is a big upset on that side of the bracket)

We don't have shooters. Our MO is to methodically get the ball inside to Simmons. Good defenses take that away and basically invite us to beat them with shots on the perimeter.

NIT tournament with no CUSA teams, most likely. NCAA autobid is still in effect.

If only! Actually, the all at-large formula and reduced field this year pretty much preclude CUSA from being represented. We are leading the conference in NET ranking at 62, as of today, but there probably aren't enough games left to catapult us into the conversation.

Interesting note: we have split the series with every single team we have faced that currently has a winning CUSA record. Something to keep in mind for those final two against UAB...

It would help if UTSA could hang on to beat UAB.
