  1. I really wasn't trying to start an arguement here, just wondering if the announcement was ever made. FFR, I too seem to recall RV mentioning in a post on here something about an exciting announcement this spring.
  2. I just don't see the marketing opportunities for North Texas with the Super Bowl unless you are looking for a big corporate type to sink money into an athletic facility at NT. Of course, if we are still looking for the big corporate type in 2011 to kick off our stadium plan, then we will have a problem.
  3. The love of selective memory. TD was hired, as untbowler stated, 2 to 3 weeks prior, and discussions had been taking place. It was well known that TD would be leaving SLC as soon as their season was over.
  4. Actually, Phil Knight bought and paid for Oregon's not Oregon State's.
  5. I never had a beef with Scottie being brutally honest. It was his inability to ever admit NT did anything worthwhile that wore me out. Not one positive post about the basketball team this year, nothing about TD coming in and changing an old worn out attitude, nothing. He came across as bitter all the time, and his constant negativety and disdain for RV was petty.
  6. Things are looking up at NT, thus minimizing the amount of topic choices Scottie can badmouth!
  7. I know this isn't popular at NT yet, but how about just going to support your university regardless of who we play?
  8. Pretty interesting closing comment considering not one person posted about being envious of TCU and their coach. I'm sure OU is full of Rhodes Scholars. Big deal if they were signed as non-qualifiers, they were making their grades when they beat your beloved OU, who, BTW, was successful for years with players that didn't attend class, dealt drugs, shot up the campus and got paid for jobs they never performed. Oh, and were coached by the "Bootlegger's Boy" that bent the rules any way he could.
  9. This has been discussed before and is not feasible for various reasons.
  10. This is very true when it opened. Of course, when it opened I was in the 8th grade, and I am now 41!
  11. Softball Defeats Nationally Ranked Louisiana-Lafayette Courtesy: University of North Texas Release: 05/09/2007 Courtesy: Rick Yeatts Murfreesboro, TN (5/9/07) - The North Texas softball team won its first-ever game against Louisiana-Lafayette in the perfect spot: the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The seventh-seeded Mean Green sent the Ragin’ Cajuns to the elimination side of the bracket with a 6-5 win in the first round of the conference tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the MT Softball Complex. The Mean Green (22-34) will remain in the winner’s bracket, facing third-seeded Troy on Thursday at 3 pm. NT extends its first-round conference tournament record to 4-0. NT handed the Ragin’ Cajuns, ranked 22nd in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, its first-ever loss in the conference tournament. North Texas tied the game three times and then scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take its first lead, 6-3. The Mean Green held off Louisiana-Lafayette in the bottom of the seventh after giving up two runs. After ULL loaded the bases with no outs, Ashley Lail came in to relieve starter Kristina Fowler. The sophomore walked her first batter, which scored a run, and then gave up a sacrifice fly to make the score, 6-5. With runners on the corners, Lail forced a grounder to first. Fowler fielded the ball and threw home to prevent the runner from scoring. Christen Jonse made the tag for the second out, and Lail struck out the final batter to seal the win. The Mean Green used a three-run seventh inning to take the lead. Kadie Platt started the push with a one-out single. After Taylor Johnston struck out, Lauren Bergstrom posted her first hit of the game to put runners on first and second. Platt gave the Mean Green the lead, 4-3, by scoring off a Ragin' Cajun fielding error. Susan Waters knocked home the eventual game-winner with a two-RBI single. Fowler earned the win for the Mean Green, pitching six innings and allowing five runs off nine hits. The junior picked up her eighth win of the season. Holly Tankersley knocked in the game’s first run with a single in the bottom of the third inning to give Louisiana-Lafayette an early 1-0 lead. North Texas then intentionally walked Lacey Bertucci to load the bases with only one out but Fowler was able to work out the jam. Waters tied the game on a wild pitch by Brittany Cuevas in the top of the fourth. The All-Sun Belt player recorded the team’s first hit with a single to left field. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on a groundout. The third baseman scampered home after a wild pitch went off the catcher’s glove to the backstop. The Ragin’ Cajuns quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run by Tara Hamilton. Taylor Johnston posted a solo home run of her own with a shot to left field that tied the game for the second time. The home run was Johnston’s second of the season. Vallie Gaspard led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a double down the left field line. After advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt, Tankersley knocked in her second run with a single to center field to put the Ragin’ Cajuns ahead, 3-2. North Texas tied the game for a third time with an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning. After reaching base on a walk, Muller scored from third on a fielding error by the third baseman. The Mean Green tied a school record with its 22nd win of the season. The 2004 and 2006 teams each posted 22-win seasons. North Texas will face the No. 3 seed Troy on Thursday. The Mean Green is 1-2 this season against Troy and 3-4 overall. In the Sun Belt Conference tournament, North Texas is 0-3 in second round games and 0-1 against Troy. The Trojans eliminated the Mean Green from last year's tournament

  13. Just when I think all the MUTS fans are bad, one jumps up and redeems himself!
  14. If that is the case, then why were the cops called?
  15. Didn't feel like writing a novel. You can beat me over the head with all of your facts and film watching that I don't have time for, but I know what I saw in person or on television and what I listened to on the radio. Poor coaching equaled poor quarterback play.
  16. Supply and demand at its finest. I guess there is our answer to our increase for this year. Add 92 to last year's total and walah!
  17. Kind of like a untplaymaker hurricane warning.
  18. Why in the world did he run out of bounds on the onside kick he recovered?
  19. Really? Then why didn't any of the QB's check out of a running play when the defensive had 8-10 in the box? Why didn't the QB check out of a 3rd and 25 draw play? I could go on and on, but it appears the answers are in the immediate posts above.
  20. In my days at Denton High, the thought of being sent to see Coach Collins was enough to get me to walk the straight and narrow. He was a great man, the same Collins the new DISD stadium is rightfully named after, that everyone respected. Plus, I knew whatever punishment I received at school would be minimal compared to what my parents would do when they found out I got in trouble. There's the problem. Most parents expect the school to raise their children, yet they are the first to yell at the top of their lungs when their child is disciplined. It is ridiculous and the reason I chose not to become a teacher/coach.
