Except for the Jesus guy, virtually all these protestors look like middle class white people with too much time on their hands -- and who've done pretty well under capitalism.

They consume too much air.

These global warming nuts are fun to watch, though. Today in DC there's going to be a mass protest against "warming" (and probably toilet paper, as well) by the true believers -- and there's six inches of snow on the ground.

Yeah, I see this a lot where I live. It's funny how a lot of these protesters are white, middle-upper middle class college students who are being subsidized by their parents. Then they graduate and go on to get their MBAs.

Some Democratic lawmakers fired back that Republicans didn't need to see the bill anyway, since none of them voted for the stimulus when it moved through the House the first time and would probably stand in opposition. Ethnic television is great! Where I live, we get a ton of Korean shows. And with HD, you can almost smell the kimchi.

And who do the corporations pass the cost of tax increases on to? Consumers. Who else suffers? People who are trying to find jobs, but big, bad evil companies have a hiring freeze in place becuase their costs are too high. So, we get higher prices and fewer jobs. Think the economy is in bad shape now? Just wait until fiscal policy is being directed by Obama, Pelosi and Reid. It'll be the 1970s all over again. Oh joy.

The stuff on Snopes comes from the candidate's website and the Tax Policy Center. The Tax Policy Center is a project funded by the Brookings Institute and the Urban Institute, bot of which are left of center. So while the TPC is officially "non-partisan," its analyses are consistently more leftist oriented, reflecting the views of the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute. Bottom line -- take TPC analyses with a grain of salt.

Exactly. Except that, in this instance, the invisible foot of the government (gas taxes, enviro mandates, etc.) helps to keep the prices high. Oh, and not to mention that we haven't built a new refinery in this country since the 1970s.
